  1. Side note that Deus Ex's soundtrack just got a remastered release, in case anyone's interested.
  2. A week or so ago, buskerdog mentioned Monster Hunter. I've never listened to Monster Hunter before, but the reference stuck in my mind, so I figured I'd give it a go. If a true fan of the series has more to offer, I'd be very appreciative.
  3. Been listening to this little soundtrack quite a bit this week. Quite a few remixes from the Music Collections among the tracks.
  4. There isn't any particular reason to post ARMS music right now, of course. No reason whatsoever. Purely random. . . . Alright, so I'm a bit opportunistic. What of it? The music is really good.
  5. Moon-Tone is a more obscure artist who specializes in lo-fi/chill/hip-hop, none of which are genres I have a firm understanding of. Sometimes I can't tell what the source piece is, but it's always good as a background for working.
  6. I randomly came across Cathedral's soundtrack before the game even released, and was impressed with it's simple but creative arrangements. The soundtrack just received an official release, which reminded me I hadn't posted it here yet.
  7. This is a piano album I found on Bandcamp and can't find anywhere else. This makes posting it awkward, because the links won't allow playback from here. But I've been putting off this one for too long, so I'm finally doing it.
  8. As a game, Rend had a fascinating production history for all the wrong reasons. But the music remains, and I believe it will stand the test of time if it is not forgotten.
  9. ???? Also, you mentioned Nemutsuki on another thread, and I had never heard of that before. So thanks! ???? I was going to post some Nansei this week anyway, but it seems especially timely now.
  10. Moss has a small but wonderful orchestral soundtrack. I consider it one of many "hidden gems" in my collection, since it doesn't get talked about much.
  11. @Mizuiro This is not what you're looking for, but . . . I'll share another Aka Kyuketsuki composition this week, because she deserves it.
  12. A moment for the work of Darren Korb. There's something undeniably unique about his compositions that goes beyond just style. While it isn't my preference, I still listen to it from time to time, reflecting on what I know about music.
  13. I don't know if this will become a larger thread, but I wanted to share this video and didn't think it would fit elsewhere.
  14. Earlier this month, Kokyo Active NEETs did several DDC arrangements. Good stuff. Plus, they released an old(?) performance the day after this post. So I'll add that too (because this is my new favorite remix of the piece).
  15. I believe this soundtrack got kinda swept under the rug when the game didn't perform too well. I'm not familiar with the details, but I'm familiar with the music.
  16. This week, Τeam αlternative Σnding released the OST to Glory of Deep Sky on Bandcamp. The album features an impressive collective of artists, including Wanwan, Spectral Nexus, and Aka Kyuketsuki.
  17. Follow up:
  18. Most of the VGM I listen to is melody focused, because that's a big part of what I like about game music. But there is something to be said for the other side of the genre. I think of some soundtracks in a category I call "cinematic VGM." Series like Assassin's Creed and Uncharted have large movie-like scores which work with their games in the same ways a film's soundtrack works (i.e., reinforcing the visuals). The music is still very much VGM, but it holds a flavor of ambience over melody even when melody is present. Case in point:
  19. I didn't like the switch from acoustic to electric at the end, but otherwise this is a nice piece. These arrangements are simple, but decisive. The arranger also does jazz.
  20. Real quick want to draw attention to @Teophyr's post on another thread. I'd never heard of this game, and its soundtrack is amazing.
  21. I've got you: Castlevania is among my favorite franchises for music, but it so large that I've only scratched the surface of what it has to offer. Other good pieces include Iron Blue Intention (also from Bloodlines), Clockwork (look for the Kirby Pufocia edit) and Bloody Tears (still waiting for the Netflix Season 2 OST). While not technically part of the franchise, there is another soundtrack worth mentioning in connection with it. EDIT: Four years later I find out the "Vampire Killer" remix I used was from Judgement and not SSBU. The record will be fixed to reflect this.
  22. You know I love orchestral, and both the arrangements and performances are superb! I see they just released a Touhou 3 medley today, so the chances of their continuing are high.
  23. Stumbled across the channel of Prismriver Orchestra this week. These are a few of my favorites from them so far.
  24. Here's a more retro entry for y'all. I don't hear much about this game's soundtrack, except that it probably would have been more popular if it had come out earlier.
  25. Also came across this randomly. I've encountered Princess Sylvysprit before; they're one of the better arrangers in the style of ZUN this side of Turkey. why not turkey?
