  1. Reimu's face and reaction is actually perfect lol
  2. Who are your 'favorite runner ups' after Koakuma and the reasons why.
  3. Hey maybe you can also try some doodles on sticky notes and leaving them around "THE STRONGEST WUZ HERE"
  4. Oooh! Yuyuko has that very pretty long dress and equally beautiful danmaku patterns in particular! I can already imagine it in this style! Looking forward to whatever you decide all the same but I'm for it!
  5. Absolutely it was worth it! Any plans on doing other characters in this style? Would love to see!
  6. Absolutely awesome. If I had seen this going into a restaurant It would have made my day and week. Awesome artwork created by an awesome person! As for the 'spread', just keep at it and she may become like your 'signature' in school and eventually gain the curiosity of those who pay attention. Either way, your enjoying your art and sharing your talent so its a win-win!
  7. Awesome pic! This truly Embodies the (Other) Scarlet Devil hehe. Would love to see more in the future! Keep at it!
  8. I'll spend it like I do every year: Loving Myself... wait don't take that outta context!!!
  9. Welcome to the shrine Mr.Kitsune! That's a really cute Futo pic you chose! Be it music our source modding, work on whatever you're motivated on at the moment for that'll yield the best results! As long as you're enjoying yourself and being productive, then it's a win all the same! What are some of your preferred FPS and Rouge-likes?
  10. As a 'Reisen Fanatic', care to explain why she sticks out above the others?
  11. I didn't see anything insisting we be a particular sex so I think you can be whatever you want. I think people chose a female character due to that being the "Touhou Standard". Anyway I am curious as to why it would suck in your opinion. This is actually a topic I enjoy so it piqued my interest.
  12. So yea basically where can I watch the movies/comics online lol. It just hit me that its always been a charming series that most people know exists yet rarely if ever talk about which strikes me as odd. Good grief... Anyway thank you so much for introducing me to Vince Guaraldi. I never noticed how beautiful the music of the series was as I was often focused on the characters and interactions themselves, where the music is 'background'. Even so, the "Charlie Brown/Peanuts" music has a unique, iconic sound that... honestly I don't even know exactly how to describe it, listening to it again but it just wouldn't be the same without it and is just as important. Thanks to you, this is the first time I ever sat down to listen to his music and focus on it. I think I just found my new "Focus and chill" music for a good while. You... are truly awesome! Seriously, you just made my day! "...And then, Hatate and Yukari relax over a nice cup of tea, listening to music from the outside world the later brought along, enjoingy a peaceful, incident free day in Gensokyo at the Himekaido Residence..."
  13. Oh that much is true but it seems that no matter how much I try through games (official or fanmade) artwork, music or any other thing, there's almost like an outright rejection of it or some kind of typical "Yea but 'mainstream x' series is so much better" as if even admitting to liking Touhou or any other 'niche' series is a bad thing, though what I receive the most is just "...Ok." like truly not interested. I insist there are more into it than we think too since, to this day, fan content is still being made. I refuse to believe they are all solely from Japan and the only 'westerners' are us. It just doesn't add up... And I live by the words of what I preach, my friend~ (Or try to hehe) 'When" so you still are working on it? But that means you're able to beat Hard which is already an impressive achievement! When you do achieve it, show me! Might inspire me to keep going in TH12.5 Anyway while I know the feeling of wanting to tell everyone about your awesome 2hu scores, "old farts" might consider it unprofessional to post a picture of a game with 'Japanese cartoon girls'. Its frustrating, but that's just how things are. You know the situation better there, but I'm not sure if your workplace is the best area to do that. How about your fridge at home instead? Lol. That "huh" reaction hurt me to think about as I've encountered countless instances of that. I had a similar situation where someone found Rei'sen cute and I tried to expand as much as I could on her but possibly overdid it since the eventual response was "Oh ok." with no further interest. It stings, it truly does... And this was one of the best case scenarios. I've run into hostility so much more. My advice is to try to hold that excitement in for now and slowly get into more detailed conversations about anime and games with those who know about it, learn their tastes and when you feel like taking a chance, do it in a subtle way like a really cool pic of a 2hu character that is close to what they like. There's also a chance they might have run into Touhou characters, thinking they were 'original characters' or something. Or if they're into a particular archetype, try to reel 'em in with that. Even if their preferences are shallow at first, any interest is better than none. Here's hoping we both find real life 2hu friends someday! Summed up, I advise against doing such things at work specifically, but to try to go for it with patience when there's low to no risk and not to get disheartened. The Shrine is always open after all~
  14. This is going to keep me up all night.
  15. F Care to tell us why you're leaving?
  16. She'd be nomadic and wander Gensokyo mainly since I'd be a prankster and having a stationary base would make me easier to find for my foes. I'd lean toward Fairies, as previously mentioned, as we have pranking in common. After that, the Kappa due to their technology and the Tengu because of their control over information and Hatate of course. Lastly I'd extend a hand to 'weak yokai' with the intent of gathering them to get 'revenge' toward getting bullied. I'll state Orange as an example of such a character since she was mentioned. Tanuki-Hime Hey~ Didn't you ever wanna get back at that shrine maiden for picking on you? Orange: But she's so strong... Tanuki-Hime: So am I~ *If anything goes wrong, I'll cover for you~ Listen, this is what we'll do... *whispers prank in ear* Orange: ...Oooh! That could work! *NOTE: Totally lying~ Not sure about the Danmaku/Spellcards as I imagine my Tanuki being in a written work and the story being more about the 'everyday pranks' but she'd lean toward deception and illusions rather than power. But if plugged into a Danmaku based game, she'd probably be an early/mid game boss who is researching the incident out of boredom rather than being involved directly so yea 'early stage menace"
  17. I'm pretty sure I heard "toh-hoh". Reading these commends made me think of something that is semi-related to this: Are there, in fact, 'closet Touhou fans'? For one reason or another, maybe the real life people may not wanna admit it or something? Just one Touhou fan I could talk to in real life would be so nice...
  18. Yea I just looked it up I love it. You should totally put it up and eventually there'll be someone who, without any prompts will go "Heeey it's Woodstock!" I always loved that little guy hehe. Also you would be an intellectual for owning and loving cats. (You've caught my eye fellow intellectual... mwahahaha!) And you're welcome for the response. Any place you recommend for someone wanting to get into the series further? Always looking for new comics to read~
  19. Well first I wanna say that yokai.com is a really cool site so thanks for sharing that! As for what I relate to, I will actually go with the Tanuki. "Tanuki have a jovial nature, and delight in playing tricks on humans." Delight. That alone is enough to sell me on them: fun loving pranksters. I personally wouldn't go so far as to harm anyone in particular or cause serious injuries (at least not intentionally) and just get a kick out of it, similar to fairies in that sense. Being shapeshifters, it's also implied that in addition to their appearance (human, object, etc.) they also change clothes which is awesome! Are you kidding? A wardrobe limited only by my imagination and magical power? That's just the best! I might go in the human village and make my living as a model for painters or something hehe... "In the ancient religions of the Japanese isles, tanuki were considered gods and rulers over all things in nature. With the introduction of Buddhism, they gradually lost their status." "While tanuki are not generally feared or considered malicious, they are not entirely harmless either. Like humans, each one is a unique individual." Those two things also caught my eye too as that would be (as an individual) my 'weakness' as a tanuki: I'd actively play pranks on Buddhist temples in particular for that very reason. With that being said, my runner up and a yokai, who I would like to befriend, is the Fudakaeshi I love the idea of being a "fuda ripper" to allow other yokai to pass through normally "yokai forbidden areas". I would be the "weird" Tanuki who would seek to befriend them and aid them in this as it would benefit both our kind. The potential synergy between the two interests me: I, the Tanuki, would make the Fudakaeshi's deceptions alluring through my shapeshifting ability (As I can also turn into an object, pretend to be money for instance) and this would constitute as a prank done mostly for fun as, even the Buddhists I wouldn't want to harm outright as much as annoy... lol. As for how I'd fit into Gensokyo as a tanuki, I'd would work with Mamizou when convenient but not be under her wing outright as I'd prefer to do things my way. Of course, she'd be one of the few I would never prank out of respect for my fellow species, in addition to acknowledging her power and not wanting to burn the bridge with her. Yes, I would prank Myouren temple specifically as previously stated, but also probably do so with the other religious sects too, mostly for fun and to tease those 'holier than thou' types. Naturally Reimu in particular would wanna whack me with her gohei, mostly since I'd tease her specifically by pretending to be offerings in her donation box only to then disappear when she's sleeping, tricking her further that someone stole her 'only donations'. It might get predictable though so I'd have to constantly find new ways to annoy her for fun. I'd often seek to work together with others, mainly the fairies due to the 'prankster' nature (maybe even shapeshift into one!). I think I would avoid being outright hunted by remaining on that borderline of 'not too dangerous but very annoying' Finally I'd have a 'calling card' to my pranks, inspired by the Furutsubaki no rei, using it's flowers as a sarcastic gift to the sick who seek assistance through faith specifically. Anyway got a bit long, I kinda wanted to give some specifics as to why I picked a tanuki beyond "they're cute". I went through most of the shape shifting yokai on the site and the Tanuki did indeed speak out to me the most.
  20. For a second I thought you were referring to the food lol. Good clickbait~ (I happen to like the food too lol) Anyway Lucy is love. I should hang up a sign on my room that says "The Doctor is In" I never considered that comparison. You have great taste.
  21. Kosuzu's smiles add on to it too.
  22. Welcome Raccoon! I always have a soft spot for non-human denizens! "That's a cute character! Where's it from?" I feel many of us had a similar moment when being introduced to the wonderful world of Touhou, myself included! We're glad to have you! Hope you enjoy your stay!
  23. Welcome Cris! We all tend to feel like the "only Touhou fan" of our respective areas and such, especially irl, but that's what the Moriya Shrine is for! I believe we as individuals decide how to enjoy Touhou and then share with and learn the similar and differing perspectives of others! And don't worry about being a Touhou pro! If it was that easy to do, it wouldn't be an impressive feat y'know?,
  24. I'm aware that's what Akyuu's Studio is for but I noticed most if not all the posts there, at least for written works, seem to link elsewhere rather than be posted here directly. Is there a particular reason for this? Something I'm missing/overlooked? There doesn't seem to be any specific rules there that aren't the standard forum ones. As for what I'm looking for, ideally something that is a hybrid of an art and writing site. Something like a "light novel" if you will. I actually feel the forum format works for this (post a pic or so if relevant, then the written 'chapter' in the same post) but there may be something I'm missing as to why I haven't seen an actual story in that format (or just not looked deep enough yet? lol) Btw, I am not trying to sidestep forum rules. On the contrary, I want to make sure I adhere to them before posting. To clarify, I have no interest in depicting NSFW, which seems to be the main big 'no-no' here, which I am in agreement with btw. Basically, I would like to have some romance/flirting or the option to do so but have no intention to make it graphic nor the main focus and was wondering what was that threshold between "Moriya-friendly" and not. All my questions may seem obvious to others here, but I believe there is no such thing as a foolish question. I figured this was the best place to post/ask this and there may be others aside myself who are also wondering about the details of what's truly allowed and where the line is in order to make sure not to cross it and be respectful and considerate to the forum and community as a whole.
  25. Stumbled here by chance, love your  background picture so much! Good taste! (your bubbly Orin is awesome too!)
