The phone tengu with a missing texture skirt. Day 12: Hatate Himekaidou Hatate is an okay character. She definitely isn’t interesting in my opinion, but she has enough to kind of go off of. Her personality is generally pretty grating to me, as she tends to only care about news reporting and her rivalry with aya, going to dirty methods for it. Hatate generally tries to show what it would be like if aya played dirty with news, but fails because hatate isn’t like aya at all. Hatate instead really just exploits her ability to make news, which aya isn’t even close to doing. Let’s take another angle of her character possibly showing how the tengu operate on a normal level with hatate as the example. This also wouldn’t work because she isn’t similar to a normal tengu, with her not being very active in the field and not getting caught up in the usual tengu business. Overall, the two angles she could show fall flat because she doesn’t have the character development to show them, while also not showing anything unique. Hatate ends up only giving us her as a character, which is a rival to aya that doesn’t show up more than like twice. She really just feels like a purple aya in my opinion.

The real nothing character Day 11: Sara Sara legit has nothing lmao. A short speaking role, a mediocre design, and not much else. She isn’t even notable in tpdp for being a good puppet, where she is also pretty mediocre. Overall, she doesn’t stand out.

It’s that kinda character you obsess over. For me, it’s characters like doremy and satori.

Keep this woman 100 feet away from a graveyard or else. Day 10: Seiga Kaku Seiga is a character that got destroyed by fans. Wayyyyyyyyyy too many necrophilia jokes made people not consider this character for her actual strengths. I personally just don’t care for her in general, as I’m not huge with her character, but I can say she has some cool points. I like that she is a wicked hermit and is being actively hunted and generally disliked by most, as she is never up to any good. Overall, a character with some cool points that was butchered by fans.

The best of the moonies with actual speaking roles Day 9: Yorihime Yorihime is like Toyo but cooler. Better personality, better design, not as violently racist, and a cool ability. However, she’s definitely a character dragged down by her location being the moon, which just makes her lore annoying to see all the purity stuff that honestly annoys me a lot. She’s a great example of a character who could be good if we had her not be on the moon and instead somewhere else. Overall, a character with potential dragged down by lunarians having a terrible personality quirk.

Oh hey, a cow! She drowns people! Day 8: Urumi Ushizaki Urumi is definitely a character that could do more. She a Rumia-adjacent character, which I describe as a character whose role is to remind people that there are a lot of deadly youkai around, and Urumi functionally does it well. The problem is everything else, where she’s a boring personality and not too interesting. The only detail I have for her is that she does a lot of fishing, which is like nothing to go on. A huge problem with a lot of newer touhou characters is that they aren’t standout, which is why characters like Keiki are special because they actually have more than just lore or just personality, and that’s going to be an issue for most new characters until they show up in books for more than a cameo. Overall though, Urumi is a character with a role and nothing else. Her design isn’t even good.

Red girl with horns=peak design Day 7: Shingyoku Shingyoku has a really unique design and stops there. I like their female form more because I’m a sucker for horns, but I generally think that they have a solid look all around. Once again, I always wish that PC98 characters got more lore, but that probably won’t happen. The bad part about most PC98 characters is that compared to other characters, they don’t even get a basic role. Hell, eika I can say more about than characters like kikuri or Shingyoku. But overall, Shingyoku is kinda just there.

Why is this character in this series again? She’s the moon? Day 6: Kikuri Kikuri is another not very notable PC98 character, like most of the lower parts of my sorter. Kikuri is a moon, which is funny, but I feel like she has very little potential as a character unfortunately. Not much to say for her, but at least her design is very unique.

Goddamn peach obsessed moonie, making racism a part of the lore Day 5: Toyohime Toyohime is a part of the absolute worst part of the lore, which is the moon. Most lunarians are incredibly racist towards anybody that isn’t another lunarian, and it’s very annoying rather than interesting. You literally cannot have most lunarians interact with other characters without taking a away a major part of their character, and it’s why we never see them. Toyohime specifically also happens to not be interesting as a character as well, and doesn’t even do too much in SSiB. Overall, toyohime is an uninteresting character that doesn’t do much, is part of a terrible part of the lore, and has very low potential to do much more.

Legalized nuclear maid (bomb) Day 4: Ruukoto Ruukoto is a PC98 character that I wouldn’t mind seeing again. She only really was introduced along with mimi-Chan and was only in that ending. She simply doesn’t have much, and is locked in PC98 jail, so she doesn’t have much character at all. Maybe one day we will see the literal ICBM and nuclear maid again someday.

Bird who shows up like one or two times and never again Day 3: Tokiko Tokiko is a less existing character than Reisen II, but at she’s a neat enough concept. I feel she should show up more with rinnosuke to give her some character, and I feel she could do some neat stuff with that. Unfortunately, she’s unnamed and only gets fanon stuff, most of which aren’t notable and not too major to note. Kind of a shame, with her having potential to at least be a satisfying bit part character.
-
This is definitely the character of all time Day 2: Reisen II Reisen really just never does anything notable. To me, she only exists to pad out the personalities of the lunarians by painting them as more insane. She replaced Udonge after she deserted, and this Reisen became her replacement, because the watatsukis couldn’t deal with losing udonge and just replaced her like it never happened. This ends up with a character that never really matters, not doing too much in her book and never showing up again. Reisen II is the most nothing character in the series, as she has barely any personality given to her in her book too. Overall, Reisen II was used to pad out another characters lore and lost all of her interesting stuff because of it. I wish she got any chance to do something, but we also haven’t dealt with the moon since 2015, so I don’t think she’ll be able to be relevant for a long time.

What is your most and least favourite Touhou OST?
Juuni replied to ReisenFanatic17's topic in General Touhou
My favs is 12 and 15 tied, and least is easily touhou 14. -
My condolences to all sumireko fans for what I’m about to say Day 1: Sumireko Usami This is the only character I actively dislike in all of touhou. The first issue with sumireko is her personality. I get the fact that she’s supposed to be a cringy teen, but she honestly is way too overdone in that aspect. It could have been something we could have related to easily, where she’s kinda like how you were as a teen, but instead it feels very forced and not very natural as a character. She basically feels like if you took an anime phase teen and cranked it up to 11, instead of a more normal teen with a healthy amount of eclectic nerdiness, which I think could work better and accomplish what I think would make her more tolerable. Secondly, her specific character interactions feel very fake. First things first, most of the characters she interacted with are the incident resolvers, yukari, and mokou. Each of these interactions besides yukari boil down to the gensokyo native treating sumireko as a basic friend, and nothing much deeper. Like, there’s no hesitancy to a human from the outside world essentially invading gensokyo, even though it’s treated as serious in every other case. Sumireko feels like a weird self insert, getting along with anybody she really meets and not having any clashes despite the entire nature of her character being a dangerous thing to gensokyo. I do like her bits with yukari though as yukari actually does treat her with caution, which is how mainly reimu should have responded to her presence. Finally, some things I like about her. Sumireko has an excellent design, and honestly fits her type of character really well despite my dislike towards her type of character. She also has a good theme. Overall, sumireko ends up feeling like a self insert fantasy character to me, not really meshing at all with other characters naturally and honestly holding herself back with how her character is. I feels as though she missed the mark of what a character of her nature could have been, which would be someone regarded with heavy caution to those higher up, but treated like a human to anyone not, which is why her interactions with mokou are probably second best because they make more sense character wise. I wish I could find a way to like her, but she just has so many flaws that I can’t find myself really saying much positive about her.

Hey everybody, I’d like to ask y’all if you guys are interested in me doing something here. So, I’ve done this idea before on my tumblr account around September of last year, where I took my sorter results and did a character opinion bingo on every single character in it, starting from the bottom. I would do one daily and give a small bio and opinions on every character. I was wondering if y’all would be interested in me posting this here as well. Of course, if I do it’ll be about 4-5 months of it, so keep that in mind. I’ll be done with the sorter soon for it as well, so it’ll be only a bit till it starts.

I’ve got burnout on monster hunter and still find myself coming back to it. You can enjoy a series even when you wanna be involved with other ones. I’d say it be fine to maybe just take a break and enjoy what other series you wanna enjoy, instead of worrying about not being a fan of another series. Overall, just play and get involved in what is enjoyable to you and don’t worry about it.

I think this type of stuff is the most fun to headcanon. Thinking on what an immediate future for a character is very different than awhile ahead, so I’ve really liked the ideas presented here. The only thing I’d say isn’t too well supported is that Marisa strays far away from magic that would turn her to a youkai, as she feels it’s unnecessary and she doesn’t need it. It’s essentially her big piece of pride in her work with magic. Some of my thoughts for characters going forward in the future has mostly been of Keiki. Keiki is an interesting case as she’s stated to have left the animal realm to live on the surface. She wasn’t welcome in the animal realm largely because her nature of making humans to idols upset the realms balance and caused incidents, so she moved to stop that. The interesting part is that this would cause her to lose her intial source of faith, only really having mayumi left as a consistent source. My headcanon is that this causes Keiki to lose godhood and become a normal youkai, Hina style. She would basically be doomed to wander the surface, not really fitting anywhere and having a hard time to adjust. I don’t exactly know what she would do from there, but my feeling is that she might either seek revenge on who she thinks got her there, or try to seek shelter with one of the religion groups. So yeah, many characters are fun to think about where they would end up as results of incidents and time in my opinion! Sorry for rambling about something slightly unrelated though.

The day I swapped to controller, first run i did was my IN easy 1CC. Haven’t looked back since. I think I’m more precise with controller because I’ve used them all my life as compared to keyboard only since last year

I use Firefox, mostly because google pissed me off enough with its security issues and Adblock junk that I left. It also runs lighter than google anyway, which I need when I run stuff on a mediocre laptop.

Well, I haven’t actually played it but I’ve seen a large amount on it. I have played WBaWC, which has a similar mechanic that I didn’t like either. For me, the general difficulty seems to come from more random and sporadic patterns and lasers, which just don’t sit well with me. I will also point out the fact that I am terrible at mainline touhou, with only one 1CC on easy in IN. But in general, it shows the elements that would make me not enjoy the gameplay that much.

UFO is my favorite game if we separate from the gameplay and don’t count side games. Its cast is memorable and really cool, with each character being meaningful eventually and having an excellent and interesting group dynamic. Furthermore, the story is simple and really good, being one of the times we actually visit makai. Finally, it has the best overall OST, where there’s really only one song I don’t listen to, and it’s stage 3. The general theme of the music is cohesive and fits each character really well, with no themes feeling out of place and all just making sense. Overall, UFO is amazing lore wise, character wise, and ost wise. Shame I don’t really love the gameplay, which drags it out of the top spot for me.
