  1. The same carapace that protects me does not allow my growth. Not everything that shields you is good for you.

It takes courage to change, my friend. I am no coward, but outgrowing a thick carapace is not an easy task.
Some are trapped within their own shells, and those who don't even bother protecting themselves are a rare sight.
Perhaps all species gotta grow in order to get rid of what shields them, but only in a different way.

      Yeah, I should molt.

Why only one beer? Why not two? Or three? Hell, take all of the beer!

  3. My turn! Sincerely, I barely use those icons, but it's good to have them ready. Also used to have different wallpapers, but ended up settling for this one instead. Zero regrets so far~
  4. Sincerely, I think they are in the right size for the art. Making it bigger would be a bit weird in my humble opinion. Also, I really like your art style. The way you draw their eyes reminded me of Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba). The last one (Aunn) was my favorite from this set!
  5. Sun is trying to kidnap people to participate in the Hunger Games. Something tells me you have a promising career regarding those sort of games. To be fair, the issue would be mostly someone who isn't there end up winning the game (such as the NPCs I suggested) which why the "Shadows", while edgy, are somewhat better since they have some connection to people rather than just random NPCs (or than people that were added without their consent). If we are doing NPCs, gotta make them shine a bit so defeat won't sting (as much). But sincerely, reducing the number of applicants seems like the most suited option. If we have 12 and need 24, count us as doubles? Two crabs fighting each other in order to get the hand of the prettiest oarfish at deadly combat would be roman-... would be the wrong setting
  6. I'm not sure how the districts are different from each other, but if we are in a shortage of people could we have two smaller games instead of a single big one? Another suggestion (boring) would to fulfill the blank spots with NPCs/bots that randomly choose certain actions or something. Or maybe fill it with the "Shadow" of someone, which would do the complete opposite of certain person's actions. If the actions of the Shadow and the original causes conflict in a direct match, maybe kill the Shadow and allow the original one to survive? And if the original dies and the Shadow persists, the person has indirect control over his Shadow (still doing the opposite that he would do). I really dunno how the game actually goes so keep in mind my suggestions might be worthless (lol), but if they are possible it would be better than trying to find +10 people. Stalling it to oblivion would likely kill the idea, and trying to get many more people might also end up like stalling it. I might be able to get +2 people for this, though, so I'll see what I can do regarding that. In conclusion, your honor, my client (me) don't know what he's talking about, so please go easy on him.
  7. Hello there! I'm Crab. There are all sorts of things for all sorts of tastes when it comes to Touhou, so take your time to explore this magic world filled with cute anime girls (and awesome music). Since you mentioned these fighting games, I'd also recommend playing Touhou 14.5 (Urban Legend in Limbo, or "ULiL" for short). It's very similar to 12.3 and 15.5 with good story as well. Also worthwhile to check some fan games if you are interested. There is gold hidden at every nook. I hope you enjoy your stay!
  8. I was thinking about asking something of the sorts, but finding an already-existing thread is even better! My favorite character is Iku Nagae. I feel I'm rare breed nowadays, but I do like miss oarfish a lot. Her design is great to me. Beautiful clothing, red eyes, purple indigo hair, and the part of being a celestial is sincerely appealing to me. It's very easy to get lost on those beautiful scarlet red eyes, can't lie. Such grace.... Just look at her for a moment, please. I think highly of her (even though she's just someone who wants to do her things in peace), and if even a Youkai can ascend it's nature, why wouldn't we be able to do it? We can turn into better people, y'know? And if a crab is lecturing you about evolution, you better take notes! Chop chop! Her ability of reading the atmosphere is good for reading the room and making smoother moves when talking to people (also to avoid landmines), and it's great for someone who likes going for walks but don't want to get under rain (me). Not the coolest nor the most useful ability, I know, but it has it's uses. Her theme is okay (too repetitive but suits the occasion really well) and her pre-theme is even better (gives a great feeling of anticipation). I just wish she appeared more on the series. I also like other characters a bunch (Kokoro, Koishi, Byakuren, Eiki, etc.) but I'll leave that to another opportunity. In fact, I'm impressed that so many people like Koakuma and Daiyousei. EoSD is a very liked game, but originally these characters didn't even had names. But even so, the community loved them and turned them to be greater than they were supposed to be. So yes, I'm impressed in a wholesome way. Also, I made the character sorting not long ago, so I feel like this is a good place to share it. Feel free to either judge it or ask further!
  9. Poetic. I loved it. I'll go outside of the topic for a moment because I agree with that. It's a thing where your perspective of the world affects how you exist within it. So being optimistic or pessimistic don't change how things function, and only how they affect you. Also... we gotta have some spice of life to make things enjoyable, no matter what it is. Even if you look "autistic" while doing so. Being happy is often way more important than what some people think of you. Now back to the topic, I see your point. It's interesting to note that in this case, your singular perspective matters more than what other people think. So if you genuinely think that magic is real and your neighbor doesn't, you might be able to cast Fireball and he cannot. On the scenario proposed of the Great Barrier going down, that would convince some people that magic is real, so that wouldn't really be a problem here. It only sucks for non-believers, heh. It also impacts the total amount of people who are capable of doing so (abandoning your old beliefs isn't always an easy task), and how many would be convinced (or allow themselves to be convinced) that magic is real, thus letting them cast spells or not. I assume it takes more dedication than just simply believing, but if a high-school girl managed to do so, then our Council of Wizards shall rise. And thank you two for the extra input. I really wasn't aware of the Hifuu part of the lore.
  10. Lots of hypothesis incoming, so I'll try to be brief and fail miserably. I also should use spoilers to conceal the walls (or maybe bricks) of text and separate different scenarios. Also, a disclaimer must be added because I'm not a huge lore fan and there are holes both in my knowledge of Gensokyo and in the plot itself. This will be also somewhat biased towards some of my world views (and also expanded for a bit). Overall, I hope this can be somewhat entertaining. So lets begin this mess, shall we? Premises of my scenarios: Different Scenarios: I think on few different possibilities on what would happen that can have "modifiers" added to it. Gensokyo's nature isn't clear, so all we can do is speculate on what could be truth or not. We can also change the premises of the discussion so we could entertain more of these thoughts, but the scenarios I want to explore are the following: 1) Barrier served to protect Youkai from the outside world, so tearing it down would make them be forgotten and soon extinct; 2) Barrier served to strengthen Youkai. So despite being there or not, the mystical beings could still exist and be at full power even when Gensokyo is but a geographical line; This scenario needs more details to turn out interesting, so it's better divided between "2.1" and "2.2". 2.1) Same as the section 2, but the Youkai act the same way they do at Gensokyo and keeping the issues at minimum; 2.2) Again, same as section 2, but the Youkai will rebel and try to expand their domain over fear. Some gods and youkai would be against such violence, so there would be conflict; 3) Same thing as scenario 2, but on turbo while on fire! These are my thoughts. Lotsa spoilers, I know, but I tried to make it brief and better for the eye of the reader. Thank you for reading!
  11. Steve can carry a whole mountain on his pockets and still run a marathon in the exact same way he would if he was carrying a single feather. He has endurance, can punch around 1 cubic meter of stone into nothing, and yadda yadda. If that power was converted into higher jumping, stronger punches, and/or more resistance, maybe he could have a chance against some characters, but using the Minecraft movement as reference? No shot. And without any equipment he could lose to a simple and single fairy just like you'd lose to a zombie or skeleton. If we think about a full-geared Minecraft character, I'm not even sure if he's able to handle few characters because I dunno what is even possible at Minecraft nowadays. I remember enchantments and potions only (besides having a full armor and bow/sword). And even if he had those he could easily lose to Rumia, for example. So overall, I doubt Steve would stand a chance against pretty much any Touhou character if we do the power-scaling like that. He'd be a phenomenon at the human village though, as the hardest-working man to ever set foot in Gensokyo. Building homes for those who need and farming resources to feed the population. All in a day's work.
  12. Liking an underrated character has it's cons surely (also it's pros, can't deny). My solace lies on the fact that skilled artists did (and still do) amazing fanarts of her. As for her theme... well, it's good but very repetitive. Shame that this characteristic also translated into the arranges too, so I end up disliking a bunch. Also, I took a while to see who you are. Nice to see you here too, Schloozy! Hope you are doing well. I think I should call you "Stan" from now on since it's the name you're going with over here, but yeah I still remember the little chats we had at Discord. I'm not forgetting that time when someone put a unsolvable problem, named it "Autism Test", and posted for us to solve it. The worst part is that we almost did it Hello Idkism! Welcome back! Kinda funny for me to say "welcome back" when I joined way after you, and while you were away, but still, take a seat! The more the merrier! Based. Come on, who doesn't like our Youkai Jesus? Even the Taoists should like her to a certain extent. If they don't, the religious wars might be speaking louder than their reasoning (I'm joking, it's totally okay to dislike things). I wasn't thinking about a game for the soundtracks, but I had to pick one I'd say Scarlet Wea- Nope, no way. Antimony of Common Flowers has better music. Miko theme is FIRE, Kokoro's is also lit, Yukari "new" theme is still amazing, Reisen's goes hard, Tenshi theme tells us that Jazz is the Celestial Music Genre (we had a removed jazz theme for SWR as well, so a nice foreshadowing mayhaps), and so many other character themes are so great I'd need to mention almost the entire character roster to keep this up. I also MUST remind the glamour we got from the Gucci Goddess Yorigamis' theme. Absolutely fantastic for it is both a great theme and it was perfectly positioned for the situation. My humble opinion is that ZUN should allow more people to produce more Touhou stuff. Get more people to make more games besides Twilight Frontier who are carrying the whole Touhou fighting games on their backs. So make other game genres, more manga stories, maybe even hire an animation studio, I dunno. Not sure how the bullet hell genre is holding up nowadays, but I feel like most Touhou fans treasure more the other aspects of the franchise instead of the main series shooting games. Come one, people want more stuff, and it would be great if they weren't focused only on the most popular characters. And over the old characters, I have no idea how the last remaining Kisume fans are still going. Compared to her, Iku is popular (I just checked the popularity poll from 2024 and Kisume is 1 or 2 spots above Kasen's Arm, lol). So yeah, I think they deserve more love as well, and the best way to show said love to all of them is by making more good quality content. Develop the personality of our bucket girl in a little series and suddenly more people will start to love her.
  13. They are my favorites of the franchise, but I never claimed to be good at them The reasons I like them are many. Soundtrack going perfectly with the situation you're having (such as the Pre-Battle themes), the different weathers that change the way the fight flows (AoCF has the possession thing which is also awesome), good character roster for all games, great story mode (except Soku, can't lie), and then there is the fact I'm a simple crab and just enjoy things I enjoy. So yeah, unnoticed things I like are also a plus. As for the puzzle games, I don't think you'll be disappointed by Antichamber. Some times it's kinda...trippy, which might not be your thing, but either way it's very enjoyable and manages to bring life lessons combined to the gameplay in a clever way. I'm very positive it's a worthwhile experience for (almost) anyone to have I'll properly check Outer Wilds later. So far, the premise of the game is great, so I'll be looking forward to it after I finish some projects.
  14. I can't deny that both Scarlet Weather Rhapsody (Touhou 10.5) and Hisoutensoku (Touhou 12.3) have high skill ceilings if you want to be competitive, but sincerely, you don't need to be good at the game to enjoy it. Sometimes I'm lazy to invest my time into mastering a specific game, but I can be enjoy it nevertheless. Plenty of times I just go against bots to have fun while listening to good music (I like "Dancing Water Spray" and "Fragrant Flowers" a lot). If you want less-complicated combat, you can try Hopeless Maskerade (TH13.5), Urban Legend in Limbo (TH14.5), and/or Antimony of Common Flowers (TH15.5). They are very similar to each other but with few different mechanics and/or musics. AoCF has the biggest character roster and also great soundtrack, so it's my favorite of these three. They are as fun to play as SWR and Hisoutensoku, and don't require lots of investment in terms of skill. Might be worth your while! And just as important, gotta love these celestials. I wish Iku had a bit more of attention nowadays, y'know? All the credit goes to Tenshi (which isn't that bad since I also like her), but we got nothing more for the Messenger of the Dragon Palace since the game's release. Come on ZUN... give us another earthquake incident or something. Ayyyyyyy, nice to see you here Polo! Hope you are doing well. Alas, I don't have solid recommendations for this genre, but I'll share the experience I had. I used to play Brawlhalla (it's rather similar to Super Smash Brothers, but Free to Play) and that game also has a high skill ceiling. It can be VERY frustrating, so even though I had my share of fun with it I don't think I should suggest going for it. I was also a big Mortal Kombat fan when a kid, but ended up stopping when things got... hyper-realistic. I guess I rather stay at the old games, heh. I have no idea how things are going for the franchise and it's fans nowadays. And since I'm digging deep into the past, there was also a game called "One Piece: Grand Adventure" from PS2 that I used to play as a kiddo. I recently revisited it and I loved playing again. Of course I might biased for the fact I'm an One Piece fan (plus the nostalgia), but even so I keep this last one as a recommendation! The combat isn't complicated, but there are some combinations that are easy to go unnoticed.
