@vanykThe Fragile Online DVD had "made in Taiwan" at the back, which probably confused me. Thanks for your info. It looked odd to me that I assumed them to be a Taiwanese circle, I looked a bit further and it appears that at least the lead member, Yu Shimoda, is obviously Japanese. Still, the Taiwanese voice-over was an odd choice. By the way, I bought that from Japan (Suruga-Ya perhaps, I can't remember) so I doubt this is a specifically Taiwanese release.
The main reason I'm posting is because of the partial meltdown (how surprising) of "iconic" MMDer Siraseuni (白瀬うに) who recently (at least after 2023) privated her Red Alert series. Now this isn't lost media as reprints exist on Bilibili but it's better to keep an eye on this one, as TouhouSubs' translation of the series is also gone due to quitting his YouTube channel in 2018 (and YouTube auto-privating unlisted upload in 2021). So here's the Red Alert Touhou MMD series in its entirety (episodes 0 to 7.1, remakes of 1 and episode 5.5 are also included), all with English subtitles from TouhouSubs. All original uploads from Nico (original smile encodes), no reencodes there. 9 episodes were planned originally but the series was aborted after episode 7.1 due to a computer/data loss incident.
白瀬うに has to be one of the most hilarious case of careless, unreliable and stubborn artist (my words might not be strong enough) I have ever seen in this MMD scene. Basically lost her mind after her hard drive incident in 2015 and has never recovered since. Always plans things to never complete (or work on) them afterwards. The most notable is the silently aborted Scarlet Alert project from 2015. There's also a collab video in 2018 that was never done, and a "reboot" project called Marisa-chan announced in 2019 that never saw the day. Spends her time between multiple long periods of hiatus/inactivity and locking-unlocking her Twitter/X page. Her last dumb (for me) move was privating an iconic and inspiring series such as Red Alert. What happens inside this woman's mind is a total mystery to me.
Now compare that to another iconic MMDer such as キューリ (author of the Mushishi Wriggle and Scarlet Karakasa series) and it's night and day. As an example, handling a similar data loss incident was piece of cake for them, as they did have backups. キューリ also seems to be a very nice, well-adjusted and fast-learning guy. By the way, Mushishi Wriggle has just started being translated into English by PoGu.
