  1. @vanykThe Fragile Online DVD had "made in Taiwan" at the back, which probably confused me. Thanks for your info. It looked odd to me that I assumed them to be a Taiwanese circle, I looked a bit further and it appears that at least the lead member, Yu Shimoda, is obviously Japanese. Still, the Taiwanese voice-over was an odd choice. By the way, I bought that from Japan (Suruga-Ya perhaps, I can't remember) so I doubt this is a specifically Taiwanese release. The main reason I'm posting is because of the partial meltdown (how surprising) of "iconic" MMDer Siraseuni (白瀬うに) who recently (at least after 2023) privated her Red Alert series. Now this isn't lost media as reprints exist on Bilibili but it's better to keep an eye on this one, as TouhouSubs' translation of the series is also gone due to quitting his YouTube channel in 2018 (and YouTube auto-privating unlisted upload in 2021). So here's the Red Alert Touhou MMD series in its entirety (episodes 0 to 7.1, remakes of 1 and episode 5.5 are also included), all with English subtitles from TouhouSubs. All original uploads from Nico (original smile encodes), no reencodes there. 9 episodes were planned originally but the series was aborted after episode 7.1 due to a computer/data loss incident. 白瀬うに has to be one of the most hilarious case of careless, unreliable and stubborn artist (my words might not be strong enough) I have ever seen in this MMD scene. Basically lost her mind after her hard drive incident in 2015 and has never recovered since. Always plans things to never complete (or work on) them afterwards. The most notable is the silently aborted Scarlet Alert project from 2015. There's also a collab video in 2018 that was never done, and a "reboot" project called Marisa-chan announced in 2019 that never saw the day. Spends her time between multiple long periods of hiatus/inactivity and locking-unlocking her Twitter/X page. Her last dumb (for me) move was privating an iconic and inspiring series such as Red Alert. What happens inside this woman's mind is a total mystery to me. Now compare that to another iconic MMDer such as キューリ (author of the Mushishi Wriggle and Scarlet Karakasa series) and it's night and day. As an example, handling a similar data loss incident was piece of cake for them, as they did have backups. キューリ also seems to be a very nice, well-adjusted and fast-learning guy. By the way, Mushishi Wriggle has just started being translated into English by PoGu.
  2. Okay, as promised. About 東方奇闘劇 3, I don't need to post anything as it has been archived on the Internet Archive already and there's a full DVD ISO there. You can also find 東方奇闘劇2- Supreme Duels as a DVD ISO, so the best imaginable quality (compared to typical late-2000s/early-2010s potato uploads). For those who don't know about them (or people stumbling across the post via a search engine), they were animated works made by AQUA STYLE mimicking game cutscenes. They also featured very nice voice acting. 東方見聞録 by circle FRAGILE ONLINE, released in 2004 (DVD authoring date: 22nd of June 2004). This thing is 20 years old! I'm offering a full DVD ISO. I wasn't aware but this circle seems to be Taiwanese. There are multiple segments consisting in a series of illustrations with dialogue at the bottom. The first segment is narrated by a male Taiwanese voice-over (with a funny distortion in the audio). There's one segment called Luna Dial which reminds of those Touhou Soccer animated shots (I haven't checked if they were made by the same artist or not) that has very poor video quality. And no, this is not due to the limitations of DVD (bitrate is a steady 7Mbps throughout the whole thing), but they probably had a very low quality asset to begin with (or their MPEG2 encoder was very poor). Not sure if we have the first Touhou animated doujin release here (it's only 2 years after the official release of Touhou 06), but it is a nice piece of history nonetheless. Some very keen observers will notice the weird scaling artifacts on the video, when watched on a regular modern display. This is because the whole thing was produced at a resolution of 640x480 then loosely scaled using nearest neighbour to the standard 720x480 of NTSC DVDs (you never want to do that). Scaling it back to 640x480 using nearest neighbour will give you the correct picture back.
  3. @vanyk, @Pinky Cat You're welcome. Please note that my translation abilities are in fact very limited, I mainly assist in extracting subtitles (from hard-coded ones) and timing them. But I really like making more obscure or overlooked works more accessible because I'm certain they deserve it. Okay, here are 2 obscure animation efforts that I acquired recently. First is a PV DVD released in 2008 called "東方紅魔郷 ARRANGE PV" by circle "WITCH☆CRAFT" and featuring a very nice and early Reimu 3D model by ISAO. This was obviously made before the MMD era (MMD just came out or hasn't come out yet by the time this animation was produced). This isn't lost media yet, but only very bad quality reposts exist of this. So I'm posting a full DVD rip here. Now unfortunately, I couldn't make an ISO because the disc had very bad corruption or burning defects despite looking prestine, but I was able to copy all the files at least. That's why all the datestamps are wrong (they should normally read 14th of May 2008 at 7:52AM). There is also a very annoying interlacing glitch throughout the whole PV which makes the picture look very jittery (when deinterlaced properly). Probably an authoring bug or sign of amateurism. Some video expert might be able to fix this. Second is a very well known dogfight animation from Mudspike (oh, what a coincidence again). Catalog number is MUDS-0001. This is the Reimu vs Utsuho fight. This already exists in 720p on YouTube on the creator's channel, so far from lost media (unless the creator melts down). But this DVD edition offers much better quality and even a subtitleless version. I'm offering a full ISO this time. More will come later. A DVD ISO rip of 東方奇闘劇 3 from AQUA STYLE (only exists in very low quality uploads) and some very obscure thing called "東方見聞録" by circle FRAGILE ONLINE released in 2004, if I'm not lazy.
  4. Sorry for the double-post. My hand slipped while typing and that resulted in an incomplete post. My bad. Second reason, I'm currently hunting a piece of MMD animation that was recently reposted on Bilibili and simply named "【东方老物】东方文花帖 附赠CD提取PV". I for the life of me am unable to find anything relevant related to that animation. Search engines are of absolutely no help. There are 2 other reprints on Bilibili but none of them has a source and one of them even states having idea where that comes from. The fact that there are no credits in the video doesn't help. The only thing one can figure out is that it's based on 東方文花帖 (presumably Double Spoiler) and that it apparently was released on DVD. I'm unable to trace back the original product. So if anyone has heard of it and remembers when and where it was released, you're welcome. The music used for this PV is an arrangement of 少女秘封倶楽部 that some of you might recognize. That will be it for the moment, but I'd like to bring your attention to lost MMD models, in particular those by Mudspike/ImpulseJP. Everyone remembers their Marisa, but less their maid and enemy fairies models. Marisa is still available on 3d.nicovideo.jp but the fairies are lost to time. It's sad to see such iconic models (notably very brilliantly used by カーボン士 on Let's Take This Outside!!) vanish. One of their filenames were: - zakofairy20131223.zip - fairymaid20130820.zip They were also part of a very old torrent named "Touhou MMD model data" which indeed today is broken (only 27.5%). I really doubt someone still have the entirety of this torrent on their hard drive but one can always hope. In the future, if interested I may share more obscure animation (not totally lost but unavailable in decent quality for 2020s standards).
  5. Hello everyone, I finally attempted to overcome my legendary laziness. Firstly, I would like to thank anyone who posted in this topic. This is a true goldmine! I'm also glad my previous contributions on /jp (yes, post 33725346 on thread 33578796 was me) proved useful to the thread and actually helped Denist make his lost media video. Now about [東方] ハルノカケラ by シオビ, I swear I saw the original source posted on post 1 once. Anyway, this was originally posted on a BBS (see post 57), and its download link was thankfully saved by the Wayback Machine. This is actually the original source, before being uploaded to Nico. The reasons I'm posting are in fact the following: I'd like to share another very recent meltdown from Japanese MMDer aja. They have been active from 2010 up to 2022 (with a long hiatus between 2014 and 2021). Just like with たぴこ, this is genuinely one of those cases where you really wish the author would never come back rather than do that. While their work were nothing extraordinary, they were one of the very first into making Touhou MMD starting from 2011. This is what their Nico profile looked like (the account has been nuked). Unfortunately, I only saved a few videos, as I was only interested in their (not so bad) 幻想闘演目 MMD drama series. 4 or so episodes were produced with a presumably lost episode (due to HDD failure) resurfaced in 2021. If anyone has the rest (which is very unlikely), please share. Meanwhile, this is what I saved.
