I usually don't listen much on PC so I stick to the basic music player or VLC if it's a specific format that isn't supported. As for phone I use Poweramp, it works well and it has a lot of customization.

It depends what type of content you are searching for but r/piracy's megathread is considered safe and has a lot of good resources out there.
