  2. I would also love to reply with a longer response, but too am tired from college work so instead I will share some pixiv stuff from my feed https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/92127191 https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/100144153 https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/101262951 https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/101808057 https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/100784095 https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/101712970 I tried to include mostly newer ones from touhou, though there were definitely a lot more not included here. Makes me think more about how much work they are putting into each drawing O-O A lot of times pixiv can be hard to navigate for western side, as typing in the searchbar in english will yield no results. Instead, you type a word, and it will give a tag that has the closest relations to that word, and it will give all art with that tag included. Despite that pixiv gives an overwhelming amount of high quality art, especially from touhou when compared to other sites. Good night sleepy boy
  3. I feel like this point is an almost entirely different problem. While yes, deleting old art is pretty wrong imo, and I too do not have a lot of respect for those who simply switch to waifu simulator game drawings (thanks kancolle) I think that they do not have to pay mind to what the fans want them to draw, especially if they arent doing it for money. Sometimes interest in a series can wane, and you will instead become interested in a different series. Say, for instance, you in particular. You become big on posting topics on warhammer or something, and it gets a good amount of people to like you and follow you to see your discussion boards or videos you make on the series (i admit this point is a bit of a stretch but hear me out). Suddenly, warhammer has lost some of the luster it had before, and you see this bright shiny newer series called "touhou project". all of your attention shifts suddenly to tuhu lore and tuhuposting, making touhou videos instead of the previous warhammer ones. the fans can become confused by the change, but wouldnt you still be in your right to move to a different form of enjoyment, even if it disappointed other people? I definitly agree though it can be super annoying to find someone who suddenly stops doing touhou stuff ;-; On the topic of them being mercenaries, i mean yeah kind of. a lot of them either genuinely enjoy the flavour of the week anime, or rely on commisions to gain income, and fortunately people enjoy seeing high quality art of the anime they enjoy. That is part of the issue with touhou being less mainstream, is that by logic it should be getting much less than we have already gotten, but fans are just so miraculously dedicated and talented that we have already gotten a lot more high quality art than other niche fandoms. some of the problems with finding high quality art feels more like an issue on the western/english speaking side of the fandom personally, as most reddit posts dont really fall into the "high quality" style you brought up, yet every other pixiv post i come across from touhou has a TON of detail put into it, its insane. if you wanna be able to see more high quality stuff i would check out pixiv directly as thats usually where the good stuff is. Sorry if i sound kinda dumb, I'm not used to making big posts like this yet! ;-;
  4. Its positive for them, as It is always a good thing to be able to change and enjoy other things, but on the other it does make touhou look a bit more barren. i dont see the series fans dying off anytime soon (considering the fangames have gotten less frequent yet higher quality in recent years), but I can see that there has been a noticeable decline in the amount of fan manga and doujin being produced/translated than there was in the early days. it makes me a little bit sad as i quite enjoy reading them, but as long as the artists are able to enjoy what they are doing its for the positive. I forgot about the second option, i guess i would prefer to keep a tie, especially since there are some newer high quality touhous to draw too (chimata, virtually anyone from 17 arc). idk i just wanna see more chimata
  5. I was also in a phase where I read a lot of visual novels. have a few fictional books i wanted to try seeing them referenced in other stuff (and then there were none, salems lot). How is forbidden scrollery later on? It didnt hook me too much in the first 3 chapters, but i want to keep going.
  6. same honestly, im far too obsessed with these characters haha. last really good one i read was "rise of the evening star", one written back in 2013 on maidens of the kaleidescope forum. its very good, detailing an oc villain who doesnt follow spell card rules. the quality of the villain itself is debatable, but they did a good job making a villain who is op but can still fail, and man is it satisfying whenever the protagonists get a good hit in against her. i reccomend.
  7. I see, thats probably why i feel dumb all the time haha. I used to read a good amount, you may be convincing me to get back into it. Are you a christian as well? Most of the biblical ones I have read already too. also how are you reading like 7 books at once, jeez
  8. A strange question, but a question I became suddenly curious about. A lot of times with other large fandoms I see large video essays dedicated to examining parts of their fandom consistently, yet in touhou fandom in the west, that area seems to be lacking. I don't believe I am entirely qualified to fill that role, and it could always be because we simply lack fans in the west, but as far as I know there are as many as around 100k-200k. I was reading a study on why people struggle to write essays in general, and it stated that one of the bigger reasons is that people read actual books less nowadays. We lack finding things to give us strong opinions, and have difficulty with sentence structure. This leads back to my question, as I'm curious to see if it holds any water. How many here read books? (not counting manga or comics)
  9. my personal list touhou hrtp- eternal shrine maiden. im not too fond of the pc98 games, but zun definitly had his magic touch back then as there are still some excellent tracks in these touhou soew- complete darkness. i dont know of many tracks specifically from this game (asides from theme of eastern story) but mimas theme in this feels intense, and very well made. honorable mention is love colored magic touhou podd- reincarnation. speaking of mimas theme, another classic pc98 track. im not too familiar with podd ost, but reincarnation is probably the pc98 track i come back to the most. touhou lls- sleeping terror. honestly a really hard pick, this one has a lot of really good tracks, but i decided on sleeping terror. its the track i think of first when i think of yuuka, and this game as well. feels like a final boss them despite not, zun probably made both this and inanimate dream and wanted to use both. touhou ms- legendary illusion~infinite being. man, who couldve seen this coming lol. another hard pick, as this ost also has a lot of really good tracks, but i have a bit of a bias towards this one. it was one of the track that introduced me to touhou, and is one of the only other pc98 tracks i keep going back to. it feels almost like some of the later final boss themes in the series, going for a more cinematic and climactic approaches. honorable mention to romantic children. i will come back tomorrow and tackle the next few games.
  10. woah its L from death note, hes here hes a touhou fan guys woooah

  11. i kinda just showed it to my friend before either of us were super into it, and eventually it just became a thing we talked about. ofc i wound up being far more into it than he was, but he still likes the series. just tell them about it or show them one of your favorite aspects of the series, and if they like it then they will.
  12. where du=id you find the english patch? thats where i have trouble.
  13. tenshi, koishi and suwako are all up there for best hat. at least for me, i also like sakis
