  1. I was really different years ago. Hehe, I'm glad to have found this community. That's all

  2. Hey, It is this lad, Gou. Some may know me and well, to the ones that know me I have something to apologize for being immature, to leave you lads, Busk, Von, and Soda, and Issac if you are still here. I really do have lots of fond memories with you lads. I really treasure and cherish all the moments we spent. This might sound corny but I don’t feel good without a proper departure. I apologize again. Things were difficult past few years but now I am rediscovering myself, that also includes my love for Touhou. And I am glad to say that I have found my passion again. And who made those experiences of early Touhou for me better? That’s you guys! The moriya shrine! That I once called home. Now Touhou as a whole is my home now. Countvonumenor, I really glad that I met you and talked with you. I gained a lot of knowledge of Touhou and I even more, I love you passion of discussing Touhou to a whole. You really are an inspiration! Calling you a brother is not a lie. I really do see you as one von. Thanks for being who you are in this wonderful community. I know you will reach your goals, brother. Buskerdog, The Touhou game jam was an invaluable experience for me. I am really grateful that you included me as an artist that time. And on that note, I am so happy that I got participate in the Remix Tournaments twice. Thank you busk truly. Soda, you know because of you I improved a lot on my art and had a lot fun with the group. I appreciate your encouraging words on art! Thank you for being wholesome Soda! Issac, well I only got one thing to say for you. Thanks for being who you are. :> And all the other wonderful people on the shrine who have been warm to me, I thank every one of you. That’s all my lads. And thank you for having this Onigama Gou in the Moriya Shrine.
  3. Finally, got cured of my procrastination. I'm really sorry that I make tourny a drag. (Shoot, now I remember that I have to give my final statement in the pervious one) KISIDA KYODAN & THE AKEBOSI ROCKETS - Beautiful Diver: I'm really loving the starting beat. Honestly, I happened to replay it a several time. The ending of the sound loop seemingly back to the start and of course, All of the instruments are pretty nice, I need more of that piano. 8/10 Boga - The Doll Maker of Bucuresti (EoSD Arrange) EoSD style of remix? That takes me back to when I was a bit obsessive with everything EoSD related. Hmm... I don't know how to feel about this one, it's a bit nostalgic but the muddy felling which DK mentioned is here. Overall, it's good. For that, I'll give it a 7/10 TATAMI STUGIWO - Dance of the Poisoned Candy It's funny to see one of Gou handpicked remix is in the first round. I'm happy to see that everyone enjoyed this entry. On the other note, I apologies for some part of the theme being hard for to listen. Again, Gou sincerely apologies for the last part of the remix. Alright, while, I was thinking of Christmas, I was thinking of dolls, and conveniently this theme pops up in my feed. I read the title Christmas and thought this will be perfect for the tourney and here we are. I really love every part of this remix minus the ear crushing segments. Merry Late Christmas everybody. (I feel out of place saying that when tomorrow is basically new year.) 9/10
  4. Lad count me in.
  5. It's about time I came back to posting music here. Please notw that there will be a variety of genres. As for the quality, have a look. Touhou soundfonts, it's has been quite a while since I popped one of these. It's theme is from the final boss of Plant vs Zombies. (The orginal one) Needless to say, it's refreshing to hear it again after so long. Aside nostalgia bias, I would like more music box cover of them. (I've only discovered two) From the circles of 凋叶棕, heart aching piece of arrangement. Honestly, I'm quite impressed. This is going to be in the list of my DnD playlist. I don't have of a clue of what genres this is. Please do enlighten me. Ay, it is a first for me. I don't know who this man is, but the rhythm and the pace are all too familiar to me. Doesn't that sound Touhou? In any case, I guess I'm in sort of jazz mood. Ah.... good old folk, now that a bloody brilliant. Oh, that reminds me. Lads, I hope you're prepared for this Halloween since the music is going to hightime.
  6. Indeed, it can get tiresome at times. I still don't have a facebook account since I'm tired of the lads at school trying to message me about anything they came across. Oh, for discord, I have only seen a friend use it at a tuition. For starters, most of them ae like that. Although, I wasn't expecting the word "Villager" here. It's has been a long since anyone at my school called me that. And yes, it's infuriating. A matter of preference really, but I understand where you're coming from. Those people, I generally tend to pay no mind. At least, you can share the same interest in this thread.
  7. Indeed, it does sound like Virus but I have my own guess that it's based on Sonata No. 8 Pathetique, the third movement. Timestamp being 15:11. It could be. There aren't many vampires in Gensokyo. Oh, and I tried thinking what would happen when they bit people but here: Perfect Memento in Strick Sense Page 75-76
  8. This will be a place holder post for now and here is for the national tf2 month first:
  9. Yeah, you're right about this one chief. TheM3ds with his Flanderization thread (God, I miss him a lot), Count with his underappreciated character thread and yeah the character hate thread. I don't really know how to make a good title; consider this as a refresher. Ay, I ain't aware of the "Aya being Zun's wife" meme but this is the one right? All right, it's for announcement of 15.5. Very nice picture and how I miss this by not checking Twitter. Back on the topic of Aya For a crow, I've to say she has got a strong voice and cows naturally have it too. Anyways, I would really love to read her newspaper since it contributes the expositions among characters well in a natural way. If only she took several pic of Alice and put 'em on the front (as well as other forgotten charaters from the banished realm). Also, one question. Where does the "ayaayayayaya" meme comes from?
  10. Yeah, she is awesome. Most of time her opponents are simply protags so, she might seem weak there but that is infact, quite admiring. Although, danmaku not her finest craft yet she is still cool nonetheless.
  11. Aya also represents everything wrong with the media, but yeah she shows up in pretty weird games. Also, didn't she have a book made about her? Wait, do people hate her for taking someone else stage 4s? (Momoji wants to know since she need to have that 100% of her own thing)
  12. We'll have seen X character is too hated for no actual reason, how can one anyone not love X, etc. That might be pretty subjective otherwise, there are some that go a bit much with their view. This might sound very much like "what character is your least favorite and which is your fav" In which case Aya, sure she shed some truth in her own questionable headlines but I don't see why she quite hated. Shall this post be serve as a way to possibly vent some frustrations that you may or may not have. Also, feel free to give your opinions and reasoning on this matter. (I might need to add some more text later.)
  13. Aye, now first all of this kind of thing is inevitable for every series and Touhou just appears to be just the perfect one. I myself haven't witness the "incident' of the people joining it from questionable material alone but not most of them I say since they are many work to be exposed to. Most of what I've seen known it from the fanworks, and maybe 50? 60% from said material. That's my point of view anyways. I believe it's somewhat in balance so, back to your topic, Horny Fans... Yeah, seems about right with a cast this big you'd be foolish to think there aren't any said fans. So far, after reading how japan handle things in earlier posts, I got some points from it: Japan doesn't really care how much horny material there it and it's a hit to have those. It's vastly different from the west and have a different view opposed to it. Their very origin are quite... Erotic indeed so, the more the merrier just like those wired period when everyone joins in the boat and does.... stuff. To top it off *Religion* So, that slides? Well, to brought a point of my own I bring you the perspective of me, a Burmese. (I don't know how this will relate) We've never really cared about those thing but later it was all shot down to ground and the freedom of speech vanished into thin air. Odd, but seems like it's in the middle. Aye, I'll save a history lesson for a thread. Aye, but I do have a question why does the more 'exposed' clothed character ie. Kanako is not too lewd but the reverse happen for the tightly ones, it appears to have the same effect. (It might already mentioned in earlier thread like months ago)
  14. After coughing and building stress from school I've met suika in a fever dream of mine: I'll be back with more info later. Maybe I'm seeing things but I think I've a dream that I want to accomplish.
  15. Mike? Aye, Pss... We got somewhat the same last name.
  16. I don't know but old is gold lads. (With some ero beat feels)
  17. Ken has already posted it but friday hype for me.
  18. Hear me out, What if the land structure of Gensokyo changed way before it was sealed? Will the denizens be cut in half or will there be more? Another thought came along with this, instead of mountains what if it was located underwater? It would be troublesome for the yokai to live in but I believe the sages will move it to land. Going to the structure: So, they're going to be just beside an emperor or another human property which is not going to end up good depending on the mood of both sides and from there, we can assume the ambience starts to change in Gensokyo transforming it to Early Edo Japan with samurai yokai, priests and a lot of roughs also, more shrine? But as usual, this setting might affect the balance and freedom of the land. What do you think about this? And what would "change" if things starts to become like an ancient world. (It's already one, but more ancient)
  19. It seems that my memory was not that good; but as you can see this might be what I talked about. (Although I screwed up and this has became another topic but yeah, the one explaining about that is somewhere on the bottom)
  20. I believe so, it's more advantageous for them to remain in their beliefs, taking reference from my religion. As you said, it might seems strange for the residents of Gensokyo exposed to Islam and Judaism; It would be out of place but it works for them. Another thing, to channel the act of your religious practice, you first need a place, caves, forests and some other shelter. (You see this place has everything to create a new god via faith) Hmm... I wonder what will happened when Greek gods and various ancient ones finally sets in the world of Touhou spreading new religions and creating a lot of plot points. (There're some here already) (Unrelated: It would be funny to see an European Legendary creature (Ship) arrives in Gensokyo mid Ashikaga (Muromachi) Period introducing Jesus and Christianity. And Dutch joins the party after Gensokyo was sakoku) But aye, it does feel like it. The Pc-98 Touhou era was very good and those yin yang balls has the same purpose as Humanities (S rank lore attached to an item) Wow, I'm falling behind the discussion ah, you got me fired up so, I'll read the manga some time later. It's very refreshing to see points and yeah, I imagine it would be easier for Christian to integrate. That's is indeed true. It would be very interesting to the lower society perspective with Zun publishing prints works and albums. All right, we'll see it when the time comes. Spot on good sir! Finally, I've met a lad who knows what I'm talking about. History saves the day, Qing dynasty is the best one to study, at least for me even though most of their demise is often caused by internal chaos. (Possible Touhou character inspired from this event?) Quite so, I first thought that female Tanuki were also given massive "gift" but yeah, maybe it was because common sense is missing in land of Gensokyo. There're a lot of unique abilities for youkias, it would be none the wiser for us to decide who is the "strongest" in term of spell cards as we haven't seen a lot of their skills. I.E Oni can do shadow teleportation. (Wait, Sukia already has that in the form of mist; you get the point) (Well, that's Touhou for you being created by a tipsy japanese man) anon doesn't really help in that regards. This is quite confusing for newcomers as there're no clear appearance to determine Touhous as moster girls or yokais. (Fancy Pants!, and hats did not make things easier either) I'm fond of your point especially the one that is in the middle. Also, fanon does two things: They either make Touhou too edgy and grim dark with shadow covering eyes or it's a very nice place and there're no male human aside from you Isaeki harem looking protag who gender is mostly male. Now that reminds me of this MMD covering the life of a villager who has gone mad and had broken thee balance and peace of Gensokyo. Either ways, If you want to make a thread about "Diamond in the rough" and "this" or just simply I'll sent my regards in massage. This does show some "accurate" depiction of Gensokyo showing what will happen when a vilager breaks the balance of Gensokyo. But it rasied me a question: Are they going to get exiled or executed depending on their action or just straight up be a slave for yokai? One of the reasons that the info in Touhou is vague is because Zun let fans to create their own theories and stories. There is or rather was a reddit post that had caught my attention a few months ago explaining "Zun Psychology" discussing about why he decided to keep the lore and character vague" (The thread might be nuked by those ungrateful "Redditors" whom has reported as "non Touhou content" (even if it's covering its creator and characters) It's very interesting to think about, are there gonna be spellcard rule or what will happen to the future of our beloved gods. One way is that one will witness those yokai even if they lost faith for 'em. Just like hell, but here is the problem. People not believing those thing existent automatically get a get out of jail card? Or it's the other way around? Ho, It would be amusing to read such a story about Kanako becoming the goddness of science. (Let's hope there's no fan-made mecha anime although, I would enjoy it.) Aye, I feel the same way about 'em being born in a town and experiencing arcade in another city of my country, Yangon (Rangoon) It was fun and I had my first chicken nugget in another city. (Mawlamyine) So yeah, I felt like a Moldavian shepherd never seeing a roller-coaster. Neither I am, but your point on Meiling is truly correct she would be much closer dragons wait, Sayano's a smoke dragon too. Aye, I do want to see an European Dragon in Gensokyo as it would be truly amazing. So, moving on to greeks, I've heard of that with Apollo appearing and one of suns causing Chang'e's husband death. (Huh? Hon yi is also Junko husband am I right? What? are there two guys named exactly named Hon yi? Another point to add to your thread in OVMJ's reply)Yeah, I'm intruged by your idea of gods (Oh boy, there're gonna a lot of 'em featuring Asian and Western ones) gathering at some spot (Hot spring?) in Gensokyo all and all having a party? You just gave me an idea to draw. One day, we' might even be hanging out on Shimo-Suwa (A dream in a bucket list "Meet A Good Old Friend In your Favorite Spot in Japan Especially One You've Considered a brother" I'm not even joking this's on my bucket list) No worries lad, having a long discussion with you have also deepen my bond with Touhou and I've also gained happiness in return. Aye, this is becoming interesting indeed, pardon me for taking two weeks and a full day to reply Numenor" You're never short on content aren't ya? I'm bloody interested in this stuff. This shall widen my view of Touhou. In return I present you the "history of Japan I guess." (You might already watched this but nonetheless, to refresh our nerdy history minds.) Aye, you have a brilliant point Von, this might be one of the causes of why they look like cute looking girls we adore a great deal. Nothing out of ordinary for the ones in Gensokyo, they had worse such as defending foreign people form moon, let a lose a dull bird of atom and so on.
  21. I too am confused as this piece sounds like One-Way Accelerator and I dug up the answer, a quote from this description: So the Og is from TeiShan Amaki's Theme from "Mrs. Estacion" and the arrange one is from Nitori's AfterExtra Stage Theme from "Mountain of Faith" (The current one I posted) And the One-Way Accelerator. (There're quite a few of themes based on a fan song) Aside that, I've stash this: Now for the big question, where does this come from? The circle is kimino-museum and it's also from an album; it's one of the best vocals I've ever heard and the flow is very good. Last but not least @Drunken_Flower will you handle tonight festival for a great man whom had made us who we are today.
  22. All right, suggestion on music about my first (finished) animation. I'm about to do that. Should I make a respective character theme or a new theme based on my skill or wind sounds covered by music box or all of the above?

    1. Isaac

      Isaac

This sounds interesting, either one would be cool!

    2. buskerdog

      buskerdog

I didn't know you were making an animation. Well, I'm pretty sure only you can answer your own question.

    3. Gou the frog

      Gou the frog

All right, I'll go with what is natural to me. (So, just gonna pick random)

  23. Will you tackle the the topic of Kinema-kan, Touhou PVDs as those were very good in 2009-2011 they're short but full of quality so, I suggest this might be a good topic to cover as of why they disappeared? (Although, we might get an obvious answer) and what're your favs in there. I have the ability of baffled speech so, will you take it Count?

    1. CountVonNumenor

      CountVonNumenor

You mean go into brief overviews of the old content? I do have some of those videos saved up in a playlist, so I guess it would be time to sort them up and give them a rewatch. I do not know so much about the technical side and behind the scenes for them, but I can at least offer impressions about those I know

    2. Gou the frog

      Gou the frog

Indeed, it could be worthwhile, if we're lucky, we might attract some veterans if not well, I'm happy to do the research, this's going to be fun to answer.

  24. Another thing come across my mind, it's something about the fairies, and souls floating around Gensokyo, fairies are trademark of gensokyo as they represent the nature of Gensokyo in some way; If the fairies are gathered around in max quantity, there's something going on and if they're none there's also something on. So, going back to the your first reply, what will happen if they're fond of you? Do you get an instant villager card and a warranty to not get attack by yokai. As for the souls, (Ghosts, Vengeful Spirits, so on and so forth) without 'em Gensokyo would be missing something as they boost the fear harvesting and also stand on par with the yokai, human and fairies to set the overall balance of Gensokyo and the tone as mentioned in your title. One more thing, I'm recently aware that the outside world and Hakurei Shrine has some sort of connection as Someone in the comments (reply) of (3) JOURNEY TO GENSOKYO - Visiting Shimo-Suwa in Central Japan - YouTube (I haven't read the manga and books so I don't know if this is accurate) One said the following:
  25. Time for a follow up question, what will happen? After the yokai and gods can't gather anymore faith? Does that lead to the downfall of Gensokyo? Will the yokai once again visit the human world or hell? Either way, this is not going to end well for them as getting less faith mean the disappearance of gods and yokai hence leading to only myths for the children story book. But consider this, what if the yokai that faded away reincarnate as a human in the outside world, will this make the fantasy land actually fantasy? Or how would they gain the balance back in Gensokyo? As of now, I only have 2 ideas: 1. If they were once again human, there would be a gap in Gensokyo place which makes it fading place like the former hell. The tone will change slowly as there would be only so much yokai left in Gensokyo. All and all, that would be interesting to be developed in theory; Meanwhile, the human that die are replaced with yokai but only evils ones as there might be yet another war between the two factions. So, what do you think about that? 2. The Hakurei Barrier allow the yokai to dip in and out since there're less faith for the god. Human to Yokai ratio is very much in a difference so, yokai disguised themselves as humans and breed on the humans to get the yokai population going (Pardon, as this is a brainstorm of mine) That way, they keep in balance with Gensokyo while they can also choose to gain faith from the outside world. Now then, another question: What is the future of Gensokyo when they're more village folks than yokais? Will they get eaten? (Not likely, since there's the seal) Or get warned by the fellow denizens of Gensokyo, will they be cast away form Gensokyo? Well, what if the humans simply leave Gensokyo and go on with their journey? That will surely touch the atmosphere around the land. We need to think harder, to what actually happen in the ancient periods of Japan, why and how did the yokai find out about Gensokyo, the land of fantasy and choose to live there? I want to add a bit of on my previous post, maybe the uproar of Gensokyo breached to the western side of myths and attracted those there to here. And usually, those ancients fight each other and agree on terms as there're quite a handful of Western ones here in Gensokyo: Vampires, Hog-goblins, Western Dragons? (Not sure on the last one) as this might change the overall Japanese yet harsh tone of earlier Gensokyo in Foundation. (Aye, I don't know if my words makes sense at all since that's something that I came up while watching Yakuza Isshin)
