  2. Hello, since I will probably become more active on the forum from now on I decided that it might be good idea to introduce myself for the people who dont know me from discord. This is actually the first time I write something like this so bear with me. ABOUT ME As you might get from my writing I am not native english speaker and I come from central europe. Im currently studying economy/logistics with focus on railway. Im pretty rational person who saw stuff no-one else should see and escapes into phantasy form the issues that he has from that day. I love spending time with my friends, I´m also big fan of humor, fruit spirits, rum and wine. In my free time I read books, listen to music and go on hikes with friends. HOW I GOT INTO TOUHOU Since I dont remember when and what was my first exposure to Touhou content let´s say it was Unconected marketeers demo back in 2021. Then I went and learned a bit about the series, then I downloaded the pc98 games and EoSD. I had lot of fun playing them so I went searching for other games and then I stumbled upon Moriya Shrine around the september 2023. Later in march 2024 I made account here and then joined the discord server where I was active member untill about december. Since then I read all the official manga, Hifuu stories and fell in love with the characters and the interactions between them. My favorite character is probably Aya because I always loved making shit up :D. That´s probably all I have to say, if you want to know more about me or just ask me some stupid question feel free to DM me here or on discord. Take care y´all, and remember that life without phantasy loses its magic.

  3. Hello! I am a high school student in Japan. I am currently developing a JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game) based on Touhou. I have almost succeeded in developing the game and will be able to release it in the near future, but the development of the English version is stalled, so I need your help. All you need to do is to teach us how to translate the spell cards we specify into English. If you would like to help with the development of the English version of the game, please let me know by replying to this message! Below is the game information and screenshots. If you have any questions, please ask! Supported OS: Windows, Mac OS, Linux (If you want to play on Linux, you need “wine” emulator software.) Playing time:5-7 hours Game size: 600MB

  4. Hello to anyone reading this, apparently an introductions page exists on this forum, so I think giving an introduction here would be appropriate. I think? (I don't know if I'm late here and I don't have an account on Moriya Shrine, but I have been reading since at least the part where Marisa and Oscar meet released last year. This is one of my favorite stories I've read on this website. Sorry I don't have much to say.) from Gensokyo Survival Guide OoC and Off-Topic is, so far, my only post here. I made the account essentially just to post on how much I like that fanfiction (Gensokyo Survival Guide). I did not even have an idea what to name the account, so it is just 'No Account Name Idea'. A user named kymoh called me nanashi, which I think is a nice name (it literally means anonymous though). It reminds me of pineapples (ananas in a bunch of languages). Another fanfiction here that is nice is War, Peace and Vengeance. I started liking Touhou at least in 2023 or possibly early in 2024? Because I clicked on a video of Cirno's UNL theme and 9 Destiny - It's Always Cirno's Turn after I watched Teto Territory. Then I found out Travelling Days by Crazy Beats. I didn't really pay much attention at the time, so I don't know when this happened or over how long, but I ended up on the Touhou Fandom Wiki (which got raided) looking for 9 Destiny's lyrics. I haven't played any official Touhou games, but I do play Thousand Night Anamnesis and Phantom Bullet (mobile Touhou fangames) alongside Len'en (Touhou-inspired Bullet Hell series) and Little Doll Queen (Touhou fangame on computer). I hope everyone has a great day. War, Peace and Vengeance Gensokyo Survival Guide

  6. Karakasa Kozo ‘Umbrella Ghost’ As discussed elsewhere in the Gensokyo Survival GUide, a number of Youkai are said to manifest over time, typically 100 years. Among the most prestigious of these is the Karakasa Obake, or ‘Karakasa Kozo’ meaning Paper Umbrella Priest Boy’. This surprising looking creature resembles a standing Japanese umbrella. These traditional umbrellas are made of paper with a layer of oil over them to make them resistant to the rain. A Karakasa Obake resembles this with a single large eye, a long tongue and one or two legs emerging from the hem of the umbrella. Karakasa Kozo are benign creatures, often surprising humans by following them stealthily, before licking their victim with an oily tongue. Though not dangerous, this may still be traumatic in the right circumstances. Karakasa Kozo usually have a lasting affection for humans, and are difficult to spur to violence. Oddly, while most Youkai arise from eyewitness reports and have essays documenting them, Karakasa Kozo have no reported sightings in Japan. This may be due to the Karakasa Obake's talent at being unobserved, or simply because they are so harmless no one considers them notable. That said, umbrella themed Youkai are not uncommon, and one should take care not to confuse the playful Karakasa Kozo with their more dangerous cousins. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The tumbling head rolled along the cobblestone path. The old rabbit somehow maintaining his perch on top of it over his wheezing. The two girls hurled after the two. Though Sekibanki could not help but think resentfully that Kogasa might have an easier time keeping up if she closed her umbrella… She felt her head begin to come loose, one hand rising to push it back into place. It was surreal. A couple hours later, she and Kogasa would have dozens of witnesses to their inhuman nature. Farmers coming home, housewives working on food at the windows, children playing in the street. Now, the roads were mostly empty. Mostly. A housewife could be seen with a friend. Chatting with one another through a window. Normally, Sekibanki would have just walked right by, completely below note. But with Ichibanki bouncing ahead of her, there was not exactly an opportunity for subtlety… “Koggers, I am about to do something stupid.” “I told you not to call me—” Kogasa’s irritated reply was cut off. Replaced with an expression of shock as Sekibanki threw aside her picnic basket. She held up her hand, holding aloft one of her spell cards. Danmaku surged from around her hand, flaring into the air overhead. The tired rabbit watched them rising impassively. They rained down onto the stone. Rupturing into the ground and throwing up shards of rock. Each creating a pothole large enough to catch her beloved extra head. Yet as she and her friends approached and the dust cleared, all she could see were empty potholes… ...And Ichibanki, laying brushed on her side. The tired old rabbit sitting passively on top of her. A tongue lapping at his paw. “What the hell man? I thought we were cool.” Sekibanki hissed as she started forward again. No sooner had she started for him, than the rabbit’s mad dash resumed. Faster than she had ever guessed he could have moved, he bolted again, rolling Ichibanki beneath him. Each rotation of her head followed by an ‘Ow. Ow. Ow.’ The two Youkai followed, ignoring the two women staring at them from behind as they pursued the hare. Kogasa’s eyes rose, taking in her surroundings. “Seki, I think…” She stopped as the other Youkai ran around the corner. Her slender fingers clung to her umbrella, her extension of herself. An odd feeling of foreboding filling her. Before she reluctantly followed. “You damn creep! Give me back my head!” As she rounded the corner, she could see Sekibanki racing up the path of the Fortune Teller’s house. Its shape looming ahead as though to blight an otherwise lovely spring day. The disembodied head lay on its side on the doorstep, a flash of white passing as the rabbit bolted through a hole in the wall, beneath an Ofuda. His legs briefly kicking to either side before he passed through. Sekibanki bent down, picking up Ichibanki and tenderly brushing at the head’s face, bruised as it was. Kogasa walked beside her. Her demeanor suddenly subdued. “So...we have Sekibanki. We can go on that picnic now and try to enjoy our day together.” Sekibanki gazed down at the mirror of her own head. Its cheeks and face dirtied and made puffy from bruising. Still, Ichibanki tried to smile up at her. “Nah. I’m going after that rabbit.” “...Sekibanki, you can’t. That house is forbidden! And…” The word ‘cursed’ somehow stuck to the roof of Kogasa’s mouth as she watched her friend. Still, Sekibanki only gave a shrug as she eased the other head into her shirt to keep it safe. “Don’t care. I thought he was a chill guy. Now I’m going to give him a piece of my mind.” “But—” “You can wait here Koggers. I don’t want you to see me shouting at an old fogey anyway.” Kogasa watched her friend for a moment, hoping she might back down. But Sekibanki started for the house. Before with a small sigh, Kogasa followed. Who knows. Maybe she could find someone to scare here… =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The house is encircled with Ofuda, protective charms against Youkai and other spirits. How will the two get inside? = Ease Ichibanki through a broken window and have her open the door. = Maybe a passing human could open the door for us? After all, the Hakurei Shrine is supposed to check on it...sometimes... = Kogasa counters the Hakurei Shrine Ofuda with Ofuda from the Moriya Shrine. = Dude, you can fly. Just go up through the balcony.

  7. As the son of a software engineer, I was raised with intimate awareness of how bad pretty much every reasonable option of operating system was; as with many things in life, it can sometimes seem like a "pick your poison" scenario. I personally continue to use Windows 11 despite despising so many aspects thereof, simply because I'm too intimated to change over to something else with different but ultimately comparable problems. If you want a perfect operating system, you ultimately have to build it yourself, and if you have the time and skills for that, you probably don't even need to. On the bright side, this is a relatively mundane problem to have, so nobody should be losing sleep over it.

  9. Hi everyone, I am pretty much brand new to Touhou. I have been listening to the music off and on for a few years but I honestly never knew it was an expansive game series with tons of other media as well so a friend got me into it! I have been trying out the games for like two weeks now. I am brand new to bullet hells and all I have done so far is beat Touhou 1 and 2 on normal. I do however love the fighting games so I have been playing a ton of 12.3 and 15.5 and find myself pretty decent at the game. Nice to meet yall, I am Ryu. I hope to be around for a while.

  10. Hello everyone! I'm Crab, and I'm pleased to meet you all. My story with Touhou is rather long time-wise. I remember seeing few videos I loved over than a decade ago ("Bad Apple", "Prismriver Sisters on Drugs", and that one with Ronald McDonald), but I never really got into the franchise since 2017. Hm, almost another decade it is... Since then, I was mostly a hermit (I'm a hermit crab, not an Hermit crab, mind you), I only joined one Touhou Community before this one. And then I left without interacting much, heh. Instead of knowing other fans and talking with people, I just went to search for the golden fruits that the worldwide community had to offer. Mainly musics and fanarts, but few games were also magnificent for me (I hold a sweet spot for Megamari). And I don't remember where I downloaded my first games (possibly here), but only years later I saw Moriya Shrine and thought "Maybe I should keep this website in mind" due to my passion for the sea, if you know what I mean. Later I ended up joining their Discord, chatted for few months, made few friends over there, and then I decided to make an account here. So this brings us to the present! At my late introduction. Well, that was longer than expected, so I will make the rest quicker. -Favorite Touhou Charater? Iku Nagae -Favorite Theme? No idea. Too many to count. Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly is fire, though. -Favorite Doujin Circles? I treasure FELT a lot, and really liked many many pieces from CarrotWine, fromadistance, and Alstroemeria Records. -Do I actually play the main series? No. Not a bullet-hell fan overall. I'd rather stick to the rest. -Am I a lore nerd? Not really. I enjoy it's lore, but not nearly as much as other people do. -Favorite Game? Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. I should mention that Hopeless Masquerade/Antinomy of Common Flowers are close though. -Favorite Animal? Birds. All of them. Did I miss anything? Well, if anyone wants to know more, feel free to ask! I won't use my claws on anyone who's not trying to eat me.

  11. I'm a simple Crab. I set sail for plundering but ended up staying. I think I visited this place a long while ago for downloading some games, but I'm not certain if it was really here or somewhere else. Years later I got here (again?) and thought "Well, let's give a shot to that Discord server" and few weeks after that I decided to make an account here as well. I may or may not be lost at the sea, yet I shall keep sailing while there is booty to be found!

  12. Hello. I guess I've technically had an account for 3 years now but I've never actually used the forums. I started playing Touhou around 10 years ago and think I have some decent accomplishments at least as far as clearing every game/extra stage, as well as a few successful Lunatic and NN runs. Here are my exact records in case anyone is curious: I don't know if that's gonna impress anybody here but I'm proud of some of those and hey the most important thing is I had fun over the years. Main reason I'm posting here now is I decided to upload some of my runs to my YouTube channel to show some of my friends and to see if anybody else is interested. For example this NN run of Flandre. If that sounds like something you might be interested in then by all means stop by my channel and take a look. Feel free to leave any feedback on my gameplay or suggestions if you have any.

  13. hey there, yet another one dropped, slightly late if you've seen the wattpad ver but idc now. since im already 3 chapters in as of making this moriya ver, next week i'll probably drop [2]. i'll also need to make a separate topic in misty lake for discussion of my fics as a whole without further ado, let's get to the actual thing, enjoy!! [1] -> *A massive flash happened at the place that was said to be the mark where Gensokyo is. A land of fantasy where the forgotten go. The gone and forgotten, basically.* Human: "What happened?" Human: "A massive flash... c'mon!" Human: "Is that so?" -> *Humans gathered where the flash was, like they knew where Gensokyo is. Only to see...* Human: "What's... happened here?" -> *Two familiar girls stood at the back of the crowd before squeezing through them. It was Renko Usami and Maribel/Merry Hearn...* Renko: "Is this... Gensokyo?" Merry: "It is... Renko.. c'mon!" -> *The crowd watched the two disappear into the territory of Gensokyo.* Renko: "Eh? Wow, Gensokyo is larger than I thought." Merry: "Yeah, I've been here before, remember?" Renko: "Oh yeah. Say... what's happened?" Merry: "I'd say, an almost world ending event..." Renko: "Oh my..." -> *The two dashed off to their first destination, the Hakurei Shrine. Or... what is left of it...* Merry: "This is where that shrine maiden is... what the?" -> *As soon as she paused, she slowed down until she stopped.* Renko: "Th- the... shrine maiden? Gensokyo..." -> *Renko looked around. The whole place is almost flat, except the Youkai Mountain, which doesn't look that mountainous anymore, and this hill.* Renko: "Merry, is this what Gensokyo looks like?" Merry: "R-Renko, I could've sworn... it was all here when I went... no..." -> *Merry remembered the flash from earlier. It seems like... whatever this flash was... it wiped out everything notable of Gensokyo. But were the residents prepared for this event?* Renko: "Search party?" -> *Merry looked down, realizing this is Renko's chance to get into the action of being in Gensokyo but it was ruined... however, maybe hope is not lost?* Merry: "Search party. C'mon, Renko, let's-" -> *A pillar of light flashed in front of them and in that pillar was... Sumireko?* Renko: "S-sumi!?" Sumi: "Ah, say... how you do Renko!" Renko: "H-hey. What brought you here?" Sumi: "The flash, of course! Lookie here!" -> *Sumireko showed the screen of her phone, it showed that the flash is becoming breaking news.* Sumi: "It's so bad that Japan had to cancel most airline trips! Have you heard?" Renko: "Is that so?" Sumi: "I know right! Say, where's Reimu-cchi-" -> *Sumi began to dash to the shrine before stopping when she past the Hifuu Club girls.* Sumi: "... oh. That's... something?" Merry: "Well, we were about to figure out who was behind this... you.." Sumi: ".. want me to join you? Well, I have more knowledge of Gensokyo since I've been there longer than you have. Bet I'll be a valuable asset..." Merry: "How'd you-" Sumi: "You're kinda.. predictable, y'know?" Merry: "Whatever... anyway, what abilities you have? I can almost manipulate boundaries... Renko-" Sumi: "-Can determine location by the night sky like a GPS, yup. I can use ESP!" Merry: "ESP? Sounds familiar..." Sumi: "Ohoho.. watch this!" -> *One of the few nearby half-dead cherry blossoms broke out the ground and starts to float around for a bit before Sumireko sends it flying off somewhere.* Renko: "Ok, enough about Sumi... shall we go ahead for a search party across Gensokyo?" Sumi: "Sure! I'm coming with ya!" -> *Another pillar of light appeared next to them, Sumireko appeared in that spot.* Merry: "Well, no time to lose, I suppose!" -> *The three headed down the mildly broken steps of the Hakurei Shrine hill and determined their next destination to what was left of the Forest of Magic.*

  16. XD What an evil laugh, you're making me giggle out of fear! Aside from that, you make a lot of good points. Never even noticed Rumia saying 'Miko' til you mentioned it. You've been operating for 30 sleepless hours and still manage to be the smartest one here... speaking of which, I'm a bit curious why you're up for so long? Also... Osana Reimu... it was so sad... and yumetou's latest chapter did too well of a job capturing those emotions again ;-; hehe, I remember scrolling down, seeing your name in the 'Recently Browsing' section, and thinking "someone's going to get cut off mid-typing, and it ain't gonna be me ." BTW I love the 3D design! Although Agappa with such a manly face looks so hilarious haha

  18. Originally I wanted to share this video on the touhou general sub forum, but I decide to post here because this post isn't really much about discussion but more about letting more people know about this media if they're new to it. Also, I want to post here because I feel like this subforum needs some more posts. This video goes over what The Hifuu Club is about, the contents inside. And I think it's really cool, especially the stories. I thought it was some written work but it seems like a cd of some sort, I don't know tho, I haven't gotten to it yet so I don't know if it's a music cd including with the stories or whatever it is... So yeah, if you like mysteries and touhou, then give this media a go! Who doesn't like some mysteries? (maybe not foe some haha) Oh, and... ignore the thumnail of the vid :)

  20. Hm, do my eyes deceive me, or is my ally in dire need of assistance? Well, fret not because I got you! If it's a name to fill in the required amount of players that you guys need then feel free to use mine. However, I can't promise to be here on the stipulated date though, mostly because I'll be either at work or going to college so I probably won't even have the time to play with you all but if you guys need my opinion or decision for something then I can set a behavior for myself based in what I would do in most situations. Mota's behavior list: Help ally at all costs If ally dies then avenge ally at all costs If vengeance is successful then suicide If vengeance is unsuccessful then I'm most likely dead anyway Oh, before suicide I should write and publish a biography about my ally Alright, this should be enough. I always drop by on Sundays if you guys have any questions, have a good evening everyone.

  21. You know, I always tried to provide an educated guess and a complete review whenever I appear here but MAN, Have you guys seen Soshmal above me? An entire essay just to analyze a few choices and very organized too, with a few emotes and expressions there just to make our reading a bit less dry. I tip my hat to you, friend, masterfully crafted I say! Perhaps I have always tried to be a "Soshmal" myself but seeing a professional at work is enlightening. Maybe I'll keep being the funny guy then or at least try to be one. Still, you won't escape from this little debate though. First of all, while I agree with most of your observations, I must point out that Ozzy and Houdini both have yet to meet Alice, so it might be impossible to dream about her unless a bigger player is at work... and considering this is a dream then I already have my suspicions. The second is about Rumia, why her? I can't rule out this possibility since we had already talked with her before, it's literally the first plot we stumbled upon arriving here but I have some other ideas that might be acceptable too. Mainly Sekibanki herself, Houdini just met her and she didn't really introduce herself to him, which already paints her as a "stranger" and the "self-loathing" part could allude to a future plot that Yume might be working on for her, from the little we saw in the recent chapter, we know Seki dropped out from school and is apparently unsatisfied with her current state of life, considering she mentioned about how living while hiding is bothersome, nothing straying too far from what we about her so far. Oh, while I was busy thinking, Master Gri went ahead and already posted a reply right above me, I had completely forgotten we had a "shinigami" dream before, I probably wasn't part of the party here yet. Now that I think about it, maybe the dreams aren't just an in-universe "skip" of sorts, it reminds me of a quest I read once about a kitsune guy who worked for the Moriya shrine I believe, and had some interesting dreams from time to time. I never got to read everything in that quest, maybe I should go search for it one of these days. Still, like Master said, there is no need to worry too much here in particular, I decided to go with the stranger option in hopes of being either Rumia or Banki but best friend is also a solid option. Hello there Yume! Glad to be talking to you. So, I liked this idea so far, it gives us, your local "Yappers" more ammo to keep yapping and it's always funny to see how much we missed the mark. With that said, this is probably my FOURTH WIN in the coin toss and I'm also on a winning streak by the way, without counting my victory from Nyoko's side. It's a shame I failed my ultimate goal for the last chapter which was making Eientei known but I still leave victorious today, Sexybanki just happens to be my favorite Grassroots member not only because I think her name is funny but also because Dullahans reminds me of an old anime I watched as a young teen, a quick google search said the name is Durarara!! I won't go into details but I used to be quite a big fan of that headless biker girl, hehehe. However, now that I think about it, the coin toss is rather interesting, I didn't care back then but you mentioned we were the "Kami" once right? And Jo'on is currently taking everything we own to decide for the next draw. Can we run out of things to use for the coin toss? I remember someone losing a Kimono before and now someone else has lost some jewelry. Have I lost anything to her? I have a feeling we won't be seeing Ozzy for a while. Poor guy. I hope he can find something edible inside Saddam Hussein's hiding place. Also, I have a feeling that he will probably end up leaving on his own, and we'll get to play both Houdini and Oscar at the same time. I just hope we won't keep those two separated for too long.

  22. The Grassroots Youkai Network An informer affiliation of lesser Youkai, the Grassroots Youkai Network is often used to pass on information between weaker Youkai. Usually as a means of protecting themselves, whether against Humans, stronger civilized Youkai, Wild Youkai, Spirits or other threats. Many of these Youkai act as informal advisors to Otherworldly Ventures, confirming details in this book and assisting in tracking down rumors. Its members are usually anonymous, leading the Otherworldly Ventures team to assume the Network is widespread throughout Gensokyo. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Guessss Whhhooooo? Back again for more of your money! If you had any. I’ll take your jewelry. Don’t give me that look, you’re a Kami. You’ll make it back in donations in a few months...or decades, depending. Now to flip this ring. Heads, Houdini goes to the Stalls. Tails, the Buddhist Temple my loser sister stays at. ...Wellwell, I guess he goes to the stalls. But if you thought meeting the local bunny girls would be that easy, you’re going to be very disappointed. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The rabbit made its way down the cobblestone road with long hops of his back legs. Though as he bounced frantically towards the line of stalls, he could feel his strength leaving his legs. His bones, old for rabbits, ached painfully. Each hop brought him closer to his friend’s rescue, but also towards his own exhaustion. He could see them ahead. The figures were dressed in peasant clothing, one taller, the other shorter. But even his old nose could smell they were rabbits. The two sat around a table, eating. The taller gagging, even as her companion pointed and laughed… ...Why were they so hard to see… The periphery of his vision grew dark. His throat struggling to take in a breath. The two stood, grasping their great bamboo packs before turning to leave… No! The sight brought new strength to his limbs and he bounded forward. But his body failed him. Even as he struggled to catch his breath, he fell forward onto the road. Darkness consumed his vision, and he slipped into a despairing sleep… A pair of red shoes crossed the cobblestone pathway. Their owner gazing off towards the horizon. Dour thoughts clouding an otherwise youthful mind. Even if the basket hanging from the crook of her arm promised some cheer. Her eyes slowly passed the homes that lined the space. Idly wondering if life would be better if she moved out from the Village. It was not easy living in hiding all the time after all. But experience had taught her that life was just as dull anywhere else. Perhaps moreso, as the Human Village was a magnet for Incidents. And it would be lonely without her friends around. Her eyes turned towards the Heida Temple as she passed the road, a voice in the back of her head wondering if Keine would try to rope her into going back to night school. Before she stopped in mind stride. In the center of the road lay an elderly rabbit. Breathing heavily with his eyes closed. The day was still early, so no humans had seen him, but he was sure to be a lucky hawk or dog’s lunch… With a soft sigh, she turned. Changing her path to walk towards the wheezing creature. Stopping in front of it to set her basket down. The cloth over the top rustling as a pair of red eyes peered out at him. Crouching down, she studied it for a moment. As though rethinking what she was even doing. “Hey.” There was no reply. Only more ragged breathing. “Hey. Wake up.” Her words didn’t seem to be helping much. But at least he opened his eyes to that. A hand reached into her basket. Ignoring the feeling of hair and the odd nip of teeth against her arm. “Ugh, you’re in a rough state...I’m not much of a pet person. So sorry if you don’t like it or whatever.” Her slender hand emerged. Offering an Onigiri to the exhausted rabbit. For a moment, it could only sniff at it, before slowly nibbling at the offering. “Wonder what you are doing here...this is the worst place a rabbit could be. Did you come here with the rabbits from Eientei?” Only the sound of munching met her ears. “Not much of a talker, are you? I think we’ll get along.” Gripping the exhausted rabbit by the scruff of the neck, the young lady awkwardly lifted the fluffy creature. Dropping it into the basket. Its food soon following. “You just get some sleep. We can sort out introductions later.” The basket began to sway again, drifting from side to side as Houdini caught his breath. The basket itself was half stuffed with Onigiri. Cooked rice, plums, fish and other fine foods mixing in the space. But he could pay no mind to that. Nor to the one he had already been chewing on. For across from him, was a human head watching him. “Hey.” Oscar would probably have startled at that. Houdini however, was too relaxed at his age for that. He was just grateful he had dinner and a ride. A pleasant enough thought, as he returned to sleep. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Well. You found someone at least. What distant dreams does your Patron share with you? = Wait, and Dream of your Best Friend. = Wait, and Dream of a Witch's Strings. = Wait, and Dream of an Afflicted Soul. = Wait, and Dream of Stranger's Self-Loathing.

  23. Hi guys, I've introduced a new bug tracker to help and sort all issues with site and downloads into a trackable section. This will make it easier for our mods, rather than using forums posts and you will be able to see the status of each report. It's pretty simple, just click on Report new bug and enter as much information as you can and it will be created and it will notify the responsible peoples. 24. Finally had time to make an entry. Though I really should be in bed now, so no long thoughts from me. Just two girls going into a spooky house because of an oddly lucky rabbit.

  33. With the new announcement of gensokyo 2, the new and improved fantasy world by ZUN 2 that uses worldbuilding 2.0 techniques. with new unique characters like cirno 2, yukari 2, flandre 2, and most importantly unnamed spinning creature 2. Do you think gensokyo 2 will be better than gensokyo 1? I need you to take your time on this question as the answer may not be obvious at first. Just know that flamethrowers were not actually banned and arent considered a warcrime. the true reason we dont use flamethrowers in war is due to the fact that flamethrowers cost too much to make and are a heavy issue on military logistics. SO GUYS gensokyo or gensokyo 2?

  35. Ah, I always love it when I get the notification about a new GSG post. It's a great refreshing feeling! And it seems like I'm not the newest one here anymore. Welcome to the GSGOoCaOT, @No Account Name Idea! It actually kinda looks like we both stumbled upon this series at roughly the same time. Don't worry about not having much to say! Everyone here has been extremely friendly and welcoming so far, so I think I can speak for everyone here when I say we're just glad to have another voice in the chat : ) Now as for you @Yumetou, I hope you're keeping well (I didn't realize you could @ people here, I'll try not to abuse that). Congrats on a year! You keep apologizing for the delays, but I'd just like to point out that in a little over a year of posting, you've written a total of 42 entries for the GSG. In other words, you have managed to make a weekly post ~75% - 80% of the time. For something you're making as a passion project, for free, to a group of strangers on a small corner of the internet, I'd wager that's pretty good! And on the topic of your posting... My brother in Christ, you have written *checks notes* 130 PAGES worth of fanfiction already, at least according to the google doc I'm using to keep track of it all. I admit I'm very new to fanfiction and so I might just be missing some context, but this is already a small novel on its own. If it isn't a real fanfiction, I don't know what is! As for my last post... I WAS RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT ABOUT IT BEING RUMIA!! YOU ALL DOUBTED ME, BUT I WAS RIGHT!!! MUAHAHAHA!!!! ...ahem, uh, anyways... I realize I did a poor job explaining my reasoning as to why it was Rumia. So, here are my reasons: Firstly, Young Reimu seems to be canon in this version of Gensokyo. Young Reimu is nothing if not a story about Rumia's inner-struggle with her nature as a man-eater We can tell it's canon because: There are a couple of times when Rumia calls out wistfully to 'Miko', which is what Reimu's mom was referred to as in the show. I'm pretty sure the black scars from the latest dream sequence were a reference to the darkness from the series end & reireimu IIRC somewhere in this thread Yumetou mentioned that readers would probably come into the story with certain expectations of how Rumia should be characterized because of Young Reimu, and so they might conform to that image. I don't remember exactly though. I haven't slept in 30 hours. After Oscar rescued her, Rumia would get upset each time Oscar showed her compassion. I think this is because she felt horrible guilt after being forced to confront the humanity of the person she was about to kill All of these point to a subtle sub-plot in which Rumia loathes her nature as a man eater and so loathes herself. To be upfront, this is my first time interacting with a forum outside of reddit or steam as well as my first time really engaging with a fanfiction, so I'm unfamiliar with the etiquette. I was worried that - in the case that you guys came to the same conclusions as me - I might have come off as condescending if I tried to argue my case much. Sorry about that . If I do make any kind of faux-pas please let me know, I won't take offence! And yeah, I admit that me thinking "Witches Strings" was Alice was just me going full tin-foil hat mode and reading too deep into things : ) Now as for you @Motaromc, my fellow zoomer... Yeah... sorry about that. I did see this when you initially posted it and was going to reply but ya know one thing lead to another and, well... I forgor Thank you for the compliment! But I'm no professional. Reading stories and dissecting them is a longstanding hobby of mine, and this one just happens to be particularly fun to tear apart. And by the way, the memes you make really liven up the thread! It's not the same, but seeing the effort you put into them inspired me to go into Hero Forge and try to make what I imagine Oscar, Agappa, & Houdini look like, which I attached below. I don't know why, but I've always imagined Agappa with this sort jaundiced, invader Zim colored skin. Ah, just as I'm wrapping this whole thing up Kymoh posts! Thank you Kymoh! The only reason I felt comfortable posting was because you guys were all very welcoming, so thank you for that :D But if me dissecting the story changes how you interact with it, I'm not doing them anymore D:< I'm kidding, but please don't let my little hobby take away from your ability to enjoy and engage with this series. I may have written a bit of purple prose above, and yet I also chose the danmaku option because it seemed like the funniest I think that's enough of my rambling. Hope you all have a good day!

  36. Woohoo! It's so fun seeing a new chapter and everyone gathers back to this familiar old thread to discuss it . I thought I was a bit late to comment on the previous chapter, so I was holding off on talking here until the next post. Well, turns out that took much longer than I hoped :P . And speaking of writing this fanfic for a year, apparently there's a whopping 112 replies (113 including this one) on this thread?! Since when?!? I agree, I haven't really talked to Soshmal directly yet but oh-my-god he put in a ton of effort into his analysis. And best of all he was correct about it! So if you're reading this Sosh, you are awesome :) I think you're doing great work inspiring everyone to read closely and use our imaginations. No username idea? Okay then nanashi (no name), good to see you're enjoying the story so far! I remember being in the same situation as you, reading a few days straight to catch up to everyone. So no worries about having nothing to say. But if you ever have any cool ideas to share, we'll always be here :D As for the new chapter, I've been wondering who Ichibanki is. Never heard of him/her, is that one of Sekibanki's heads or something? I don't have much time right now so I might come back to this later and make a more educated guess. It's also nice that this week's options don't seem too consequential- after seeing Soshmal's previous post I was kinda worried I'd have to use my brain for the next vote XD. So yeah, I assume it doesn't matter too much what Sekibanki/Koggers do next so I chose danmaku, it sounds the coolest.

  37. Back again. Sorry for the delay one and all. I can't make any explanations you haven't already heard sadly. So if you were hoping for something new and exciting in my life, you'd be wrong. Onward to the entry. A little longer one. I wish I had time to put in the effort I wanted. But I think the quantity of the writing shows my dedication to you all at least. Love Soshmal and Gri's theorizing! I put a lot of tiny details into interactions at times. Both to hint at future possible plotlines and encourage speculation. Soshmal especially's picked up on a few of these. @Motaromc Yes indeed! From the first post, the voters are all playing nameless Kami who are watching our hero and influencing his choices and that of others in the narrative! And having your things taken by Jo'on. As for if you can run out, probably not. There are at least four of you she can pick things from after all. Though you might just get tired of her making trouble and kick her out. That'll be a fun mini-narrative, watching you all throw her out of your cozy temple in who-knows-where. If I ever make this into a real fanfiction, I'll probably come up with characterizations and appearances for my voters as Kami, but that's for future Yummy Toe to worry about. Don't worry about Osu. I have a special idea for him if things go very wrong...or possibly two. Its maybe too soon for one of these reveals. Weird to think I have been writing this for a year now...if only I had more time to do so. One of these days I'll tidy up the story and post it to an actual fanfiction site to see what people think. Or maybe learn 3D animation to post these on Youtube. One of these days...

  45. Here are some of my thoughts: Cirno - Scout since he has all the ways to fuck with the enemy team. She'll do all the things expected of a scout main like landing 2 meatshots into default scattergun taunt into getting killed, always missing the second shot of the force a nature and soda popper, milking someone into laugh taunt into kill bind, robbing health packs from medics, hitting herself with the boston basher then grabbing the health pack the moment a teammate goes to grab it. The whole high risk high reward style of the scout just makes her feel so good everytime she outplays some fool and with scout himself already being so cocky, it's like she was born to main him. Also she probably paints her cosmetic with those highly saturated paints that stings your eyes. Okuu - Scorchshot Phlog pyro. The playstyle takes the rather complicated position of the pyro dumbs it down to what every new player likes about him, he doesn't need good aim to play, he can eviscerate large groups of unprepared enemies, the *ting* hitsound rapid fires. There are probably better classes she could play that is also not that hard to play like soldier, heavy, and medic, heck even stock pyro would be more helpful, but non of them has that same high as using your "mmph" as the enemy team rounds the corner and your ear ruptures from all the hitsounds while the enemy team panics and gets turn into ash. Over time she has found that spamming scorchshots at chokepoint is a very easy way to get mmph without putting herself at risk by actually getting close. Sometimes a voice will whisper in her ears to "shoot at the enemy sniper", "it'll be quick it" "just a little more and you'll fill up your mmmp", "they're not even that good, they won't hit you" it says, then she'll gets her head blown off instantly, she'll never learn from this mistake and will always let the voices win. Mystia - She's pretty good at heavy, actually no, she's damn good. She can always be found in the objective fighting the good fight with the team behind her back, like a massive brick wall the enemy struggles to take down despite being so fat and having a nice and shiny bald head begging to have a hole freshly punched into it. She understands what a good heavy can bring to the table and so she works hard to rally his team to victory and thanking everyone for their hard work, especially that medic that has been keeping her ass alive the whole game. But by far the most important aspect to heavy as to why she chose him is that he's a funny Russian man who says "pootis". While being a tryhard is good and all, being able to just kick back, relax, and do silly things is also important, and she finds it easier to do with the funny tf2 meme guy. She just kinda goes along with what the vibe of the server is, if its a serious game for serious gamers then she's gonna lock in, if one guy or the whole server is doing their antics then she's gonna join them. At the end of the day she's just there to have fun and whatever the teams definition of "fun" is then she'll be more than happy to help them achieve it. Sakuya & Scarlet - Sakuya would definitely be better off being a sniper since her aim is on point, and at this point she just look like she's playing aimlabs but the targets are tf2 mercs heads. But unfortunately her mistress demands to be pocketed despite already running the soldier bitchbox and cuntch combo. Though Scarlet is actually not that bad with soldier, her aim is decent, she knows how to propel herself forward with a rocket jump (and thats about the extent of her rocket jump skills), she knows where the health packs are so she can be left unattended and still survive. But she gets all pissy when she dies and doesn't wanna walk back to the fight so she gets Sakuya to babysit her and demand that only she gets the uber. Sakuya is well aware that her mistress can handle herself in a fight so she doesn't just heal her 24/7 and actually spreads heals evenly among the team so everyone is in tiptop shape (while paying close attention to Scarlet's health) while saving the uber for her mistress to go on a rampage. Scarlet just wanna have her fun by blowing shit up and Sakuya is willing to help her do that if she asks. Edit: I just realized I refer remilia with her last name more than her first name lol that scarlet gensokyo did do a number on me

  46. Greetings, First of all, congrats Yumetou . It's been 1 year since you've started posting this story (Time sure flies). Thank you for keeping this going for so long. Here's to more adventures. Now, for this week chapter, while some intros spoil a little what will happen in the chapter, I feel the one for this week ruined the twist a little. Still, I am happy about the result, and so far I like what little insight we got for Houdini's rescuer (good timing too, I just finished Kubinashi Recollection for the 2nd time). In canon, we mostly see Aya and Mamizou going in and out of the village as they please, and both belong to very dominant youkai species, so seeing the perspective of weaker youkai living in the village could be refreshing (although in your story, we already saw Team9 studying at school, but they are kid, so I don't expect them to do much else in the village compared to an "older" youkai). Also, yet why is there a head in there exactly? To keep watch on the food in case someone tries to steal it ? Or maybe to give a passerby a good scare there's a quick opportunity to get "faith"? Anyway, the choices: I like the choice presented: more consequence-free than usual, so we can choose what "vision" we want to learn more about the past (dream of best friend), the present or the future (all the other options) . Despise this opportunity, I am drawing a blank here. The "best friend" option seems the most straight-forward one, so I would go for one of the others to learn more about what is going on currently (or what could happen). Pretty similar to what I would have written, so I won't bother detailing my theories. I wasn't sure what "Afflicted" meant at first, but my hunch was Wriggle. While I would enjoy seeing Team9 again, I don't think it will move the plot forward a lot. We know that Team9 is in danger, but we are powerless to do anything other than watch the situation gets worse (unless Keine notice something's wrong, but I wouldn't bet on that). I would avoid that one. Its sad we only got one choice, but those are the rules. As for "Stranger's Self-Loathing", I got nothing and haven't though of Rumia. I am really not sure about what this choice could mean (somehow, I have some doubts it concerns Rumia), but it sounds grim (I am most curious about that one). "Witch's strings" does sound like Alice, but she wasn't introduced yet. Like you said, it could be a change in perspective, so we could see Marisa talking about the stranger she met at the village. Yet, if it's really about Alice/Marisa, then this feels like another the start of another plot thread. I think it's better to keep it simple, so I would avoid this one too So either "best friend" or "stranger" .... As you said, "best friend" could be an opportunity to learn more about Oscar previous life. I would go with this one for now. Oscar already had a bad dream last time (meeting the Shinigami), so I would spare Houdini and avoid it getting a bad dream about "someone self-loathing". Vote for whatever you wish. My vote this week is not one of confidence.

  47. I shoulda known it was too easy! While I'm admittedly a little disappointed bnuny didn't get to meet up with the other runny babbits, Sekibanki (I think) is definitely an interesting option for saving Houdini nonetheless. She doesn't appear all that much in canon or fanon, so she's somewhat of a blank slate and I'm excited to see how she's handled. The basket full of food she's carrying could imply that she's on her way to a meeting of the Youkai Grassroots Network, which may take them as far away as the misty lake. Poor Houdini has a rude awakening and a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to get back to Oscar! On the topic of Houdini, what I wanted to discuss last time (before I ran out of time) was the possibility of them turning into a youkai. For one, Houdini is old. Probably very old, given how Oscar referred to him as being "...as old as [he] was when [they] met". I can't recall if we have an exact age for Oscar, but he must be in his 20's at least. This would indicate that Houdini is at the very least (but likely more than) 10 years old, which is also the maximum of the domestic rabbit's average lifespan. Animals in Gensokyo that well exceed their expected longevity have the tendency to transform into youkai. There is also the emotional distress that poor Houdini must be experiencing; knowing his best friend is in mortal danger, getting so close to people who can help and yet ultimately being rendered powerless by his old bones and rotten luck. Extreme emotional distress is another path via which animals can become youkai, a particularly relevant example of this being in WaHH, when Tewi sets up a bunch of pet rabbits to be abandoned so the distress would turn them into youkai she can command. That was another one of the reasons that I was hoping for Houdini to reach the Eientei crew, but that's enough of that. Let's move on to discussing this entry's options. All of them are interesting, if a little cryptic (in a good way! no need to clarify, Yumetou!). Anyways, my personal interpretations and thoughts on them are as follows: As context, I'm writing this with the assumption that this entry's options will lead to a perspective change as opposed to a dream sequence like we've seen before, but I'm willing to be wrong. "Best Friend": Oscar Diggs I think my reasoning for this is pretty self-explanatory, given how Houdini and Oscar seem to share a deep bond. If this is a perspective shift, going back to Oscar could be interesting. If we're lucky, it could lead to Oscar escaping on his own and maybe getting some character development as well. If we're unlucky, this could be a game over. IMO, the time Oscar's spent trying to fend for just himself (or him and Agappa) have been some of the highlights of this series. While this option is definitely high risk, it could also be high reward. If it's a dream sequence, we could get some more context on what lead up to Oscar's spiriting-away. While not absolutely essential, it could still provide some interesting perspective on our protagonist. "Witch's Strings": Marisa (or Alice?) While this option almost certainly refers to Marisa, which I'll assume to be the case, the 'Strings' part makes me think of Alice the puppeteer. I'm definitely overthinking this though . Whether this is a perspective shift or dream sequence, this option could give us vital information on one or two of our main quests We could get more information on the meaning behind Agappa's prophecy It could also reveal some sort of connection between Marisa and Oscar. Remember when Marisa freaked out when she opened Oscar's wallet? I NEED TO KNOW WHY, DAMMIT!!! This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the situation at hand, however. Doesn't mean it's not viable, just that we would be delaying our current quest (not dying) in favor of another. "Afflicted Soul": Wriggle I'm pretty sure this option is in reference to Wriggle and her possession This option is the one that most makes me think that this time the dream will be a perspective shift, as my smooth brain can't see what wriggle would have to do with a dream sequence. Could lead to team 9 saving Oscar, but given that it's the "Intrigue" option, it could be more sinister. Who knows, the inugami might just win out and bring Oscar further from rescue. Either way, this is one of two options that deal with the situation at hand, whereas the Marisa and Rumia options deal more with other quests Agappa, due to her ability to see the curse and her connection to the afterlife, would definitely feature heavily here. Agappa is probably my favorite character in this series so far, so getting more characterization for her would be pretty cool : ). "Stranger's Self-Loathing": Rumia This option is by far the most cryptic, and potentially very interesting. I personally think it refers to Rumia due the hints I think I've picked up on throughout the story that Rumia is facing an inner-struggle in regards to her nature as a man-eater. There are several different ways I can see this going. Most likely it'll just help us resolve one of the first quests we got, find Rumia. It could also bring Kimiko back into the fold, but I don't know how (I had a whole train of thought on how this could happen but the moment I sat down to write it out I lost it...) There is also the potential that this could resolve both the current situation and the finding Rumia quest at the same time. With both her and potentially Houdini out in the wider world, there's always the chance that they could bump into eachother, and maybe he leads Rumia back for help. Anyways, you guys are probably tired of listening to me ranting by now, so I'll cut it off here. All of these options seem pretty interesting to me, so I think I'll hold off on voting until I get the chance to hear some more of you guys' thoughts. Hope you all have a wonderful week and that Yumetou can finally catch a break : )

  48. Finally got to write out a post. And after a rough day of work too. Before I go to bed, I've mentioned some choices the group makes have a random outcome. This is a good example, with myself setting up a pool of options and rolling a 1d100 to determine which outcome happens. In this case, I rolled a 71. Higher than the 1-39 I planed for Reisen and 40-69 for Tewi. Who found Houdini then? Well normally I would post the table of options, but I didn't get around to it. All I can say is you can probably guess. Instead of a direct action, Houdini is visited by a dream, from a mysterious force, the same Oscar has access to. As his familiar, Houdini can draw on knowledge through dreams as well. After a quick aside, he is sure to wake up, a little stronger and with more options for attracting help for Oscar.

  49. By now, I figure my stronger preferences in music are detectable. If not, then I'm succeeding in my goal of variety. Either way and to that end, this week should be a bit more unusual: Guilty Gear XX Without question, this is a hard metal soundtrack. Each theme uses a gimmick to make it stand out from the others, usually a contrasting instrument or style. Holy Orders employs a harpsichord, Babel Nose features some oriental influences, and The Original has interludes that almost sound like they came from a different game, but the electric guitar is always present in one way or another. Despite this not being my usual cup of tea, the track Blue Water Blue Skies caught my interest, and eventually led me to investigate the full OST. That's why it's GGX2 specifically; the piece I came across was from that game, and I've not been motivated to search beyond it. Anyway, it's really late, so Imma come back to the tournament tomorrow. G'night!
