  1. AND TODAY'S THE DAY!! MY BDAY IS TODAY!!

  2. I was brought in by the overwhelming amount of memes, but the music of the franchise is the ONLY thing that is keeping me around this fandom since the pandemic. It's oddly satisfying in a way that other music from other games unable to do (except the Katamari series). The games are okay however they're too punishing for me and the bullet hell genre is pretty stale for my taste so I eventually quitted after 2 years of playing the games continuously. Though I need to give them credits for immersing me with the awesome music, it's like it's an album with a game inside of it. The canon lore I've acknowledge during my time of being in this fandom is also pretty interesting and sometimes outright funny (haha futo arsonist) but I don't feel motivated enough to dive deep in it.

  4. Well, it turns out I have been a bit too tight in my scheduling again... So I'll just spin this into a way to make everyone else have a chance to contribute at a more relaxed pace. I'll create a character every week and process the suggestions when I find out about them. Also, I'm quite lax when it comes to the restrictions, finding something that could work in the context presented is already hard enough, that you don't necessarily have a completed character, but rather a concept of one is natural. There are a few key answers to important questions that need to be answered, though. First: Does it feel like he/she is wrongfully persecuted? -> If yes, they pass this question. -> If no, did they live in Former Hell originally? -> If yes, they pass. -> If no, they don't. Second: Would they even somewhat agree with the core ideal of the country? (That being: "Through Understanding Comes Peace!") ->If yes, they pass. ->If no, they don't. You can ask a few other questions, but those two are cardinal rules I follow when I characterize people from the Underworld. It's possible for there to be an exception to those rules, but good luck finding it. I have no clue what my subconscious has planned for me either, I just know it has something coherent planned. This is also not the best first chapter/prologue I have ever written, but it's there now, as a testament to my struggles to become a 'good' writer. whatever that illusionary title may hold. The Troubles have indeed kept me away longer than I'm willing to admit, though for now it hasn't been so bad as to require hospitalization. I also bought quite a few things not related to Touhou that interested me, which also kept me away, but Gensokyo is a place that feels familiar to me. It is a place to rest the weary bones of a traveler of the internet, though too much rest hurts the same as too little rest. I also get way too carried away making plans and working side jobs that I don't rest as much as I probably should, and I refuse to complain about my situation because it can always get worse. My whims also haven't taken me to Gensokyo in a while, so that's also a reason. Considering I disappeared of the face of the earth for a while, I completely understand why you didn't come here every Wednesday just to confirm that I am in fact still gone. I was more so gauging the interest and the trust of the people who care to come here and read my ramblings than I actually wanted one person to create six characters. Also, it is extremely difficult to be mediocre at something. To write well enough it doesn't have any notable mistakes while writing bad enough to not leave a lasting impact on the people that read your work. Also, you don't have to contend with city poets. Well, I don't want to make a habit out of advertising my story in another story's forum, but if you want to contact those people privately I won't mind. In case you haven't noticed it yet, I bury as much meaning into everything I can, which leads to some strange circumstances when people don't pick up on certain key meanings and I misdirect them because I want to practice manipulation. Though I somehow retain a certain air that makes them keep their guard low around me. That mystery is hard to keep when you're the one initiating the conversation, so I avoid doing that as much as possible or provide answers that bring more questions. So you can consider this a source of inspiration to make my writing a little more complicated; I like a challenge, after all. Yumetou once said that I was someone with a great understanding of Youkai. I respectfully disagree, as I only know two, maybe three Youkai deeply and about half a respectable amount, with most of my information coming from trusted sources or applying common storytelling tropes to Youkai to make the illusion that the net I have is as wide as it is deep. I also do a lot of research if I think I am lacking something necessary for the misdirection, which then somehow turns into a great understanding of Youkai for someone who can barely recall what a Gotoku Neko is. (That being a forgetful cat that came into this world by having their tail singed at the fireplace [at least, that's the most likely explanation].) So I can't say I would know much more than you. I had not, but I did hear of the Youkai that sits on you so hard you suffocate, the Kanashibari, which the pillow-flipper is related to. Also, there is opportunity there for a Former Hell Makuragaeshi. Straight from Yokai.com Does that remind you of someone? If it does not directly fit the theme of Old Hell, figure out if it is related to someone who is. While you're there, go read up on the kanashibari, as well. It does not have to be a 1-1 transcription of the Youkai as stated, as Goutokuji Mike will remind you with her mere existence. Considering you got another try due to me overestimating my abilities, go try again. I should also put up a timer when I start writing these things because where the hell did the last hour go?

  6. I'm fairly new, but I like the world and the breath of fan made stuff for it, and asides all of the Western shit I like has gotten bad so became more of a weeb lol. I'd say it and the Nasuverse are my 2 favorites for the moment (If my PFP didn't give it away)

  7. Perhaps it's obvious in my case, but it was music that brought me in, and it's music that keeps me here. There was a time in the middle where I was more engaged with the community aspect; the remix tournaments facilitated interaction in context of my pre-existent interests, and the various music threads we have today came into being around the same time. Garison DeCrick (who deleted his account some time ago) had several threads up of a style similar to CountVonNumenor, and those of us who were active at the time had a few non-music related discussions which are now lost to time (I remember an especially interesting thread about potential educational applications for the franchise). In many ways, CountVonNumenor filled the gap of engagement instigation left by Garison, just in time for the sudden boost in members incited by the DMCA incident of 2022. Inevitably, interests shifted, both of the community general and of its specific members. Nowadays, the older members are more lurkers, in much the same way as the oldest members were when the older members were new. I suspect this is the normal cycle for a fandom, and arguably should be; fictitious franchises should not be the core of life, and online relationships can only go so far without opening up to more direct communication. For now, I'm still here, and I appreciate the interactions when they occur.

  8. big boob anime women... nah in all seriousness, probably just a bit of character lore and design. major part was music and art, to be frank. the other like 20% was just because there's a lotta cool fangames based on touhou out there that I had fun with (like luna nights, which was my first "touhou game") since I never liked shmups the games didn't interest me, so I didn't touch them as much as I wish I could've. writing this fully aware of the fact I was like "yo dude these anime women look awesome!!!" and then it's a girl with a hat

  9. Is a combination of gameplay / lore / community / and inspiration. I have always felt fascinated with the whole rabit hole that touhou is. I like games that can add something to my life. In this case touhou serves as an inspiration to my art, my writing, and a lot of other hobbies and projects that I have, examples of other games that inspire me and my art are GD. I have always liked how ZUN gives to the community the possibility of creating artworks and derivate works. I like how touhou shows it´s lore and the story of the games and its characters. So yeah, touhou is probably one of my favorite things in this life :D

  10. Gameplay is just up my alley and I love seeing what the community cooks. Was never a bullet hell guy but I like games that tests my skills and knowledge and see my improvement over time. But beyond gameplay I like seeing passionate people use their skills and talents to show their love for something by making creative works or creating discussions. This community just have so much years worth of lore that I can't help but be intrigued

  12. well for me is not really much to say, i still enjoy touhou due to it unique gameplay which i like danmaku type game, same too with the OST that somehow better for such old game like EoSD or lower for example, after becoming fan for long time i not realized i just became fan of the most popular thing which that first time i discovered bad apple which i realized it touhou, even IOSYS and even arcade game like Pump-it-up contain touhou music beside bad apple, well stuff that related to touhou making me feel comfortable with it due that i'm not just attracted to a girl in the game but i able to find a friend in same interest with me but too bad in my place i never meet any person who even know what touhou is, some of them laugh or anything else

  13. I haven't played Azure Lane, but Lost World looks VERY similar to FGO which is the comparison I've typically heard (Haven't played FGO TOO much, but do know it, and I quite like the series if my PFP doesn't give it away lol)

  14. Wages in Gensokyo We have in brief gone over the monetary system used in Gensokyo. One consistent question from Outsiders however is, what should be considered a 'living wage' in Gensokyo. Alas, such things are not so simple in this world. Most forms of work in Gensokyo are manual labor. Farming, fishing, wood cutting. These occupations seldom make enough money to compensate workers in cash. Typically they are instead payed in food or wares, which can then be bartered or traded for coin or other goods. Often, your employer will also furnish food and living arrangements for their employee. Though this may be as simple as a blanket in a warm corner of the house or a loft, to a spare bedroom. Provisions and bedding vary from employer to employer, and the onus is often on the worker to decide if their situation is acceptable. The Otherworldly Ventures Division of Labor exists as a source of relief however for any possible wronged individuals. In return for a small service fee (equal to your last week's pay), we will happily determine if your present living situations are acceptable, and negotiate with your employer. We also are able to find you positions elsewhere in our network (for a fee equal to half a week's wages for the first month). Otherworldly Ventures employs and has connections to everything from farmers to merchants and temples. There is sure to be a job that fits YOU in Gensokyo! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= “Ohohoho, it looks like you useless kami can’t decide what this loser should do! Never fear, Jo’on is here to guide you. Heads, he is headless! Tails he has the blue fairy do his dirty work. The Ryu, please.” *ting* “Heads! Hope his comes off.” =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The rumbling from behind him was growing louder. Wood splintering as the lanky beast tore after him. Its oversided fist smashing through the floor. Oscar tried to ignore it. His gaze remaining on the door to the kitchen. “Cirno, Wriggle, I’m going to throw you up to Agappa. You two stay up there until I deal with this guy.” “W-what?” The question spilled from Cirno’s lips with surprising earnestness. Her eyes, still ringed with frozen tears, gazed up at him. Her small hands grasping at his jacket. “You can’t do that Osu! I’ve already lost a friend. I don’t...I can’t…” “Hey, its okay.” He replied. The welling tears in her eyes made him glad he was such a good showman. Oscar doubted he could lie to a friend’s crying face. He smiled broadly, even managing a wink. “I’m Oscar Diggs, the great and powerful. Nothing can go wrong when I’m around.” Wriggle let out a huff. Cirno looked almost ready to start sobbing again. “Do you promise?” “I promise I will be back.” The reassurance in his voice fooled even him as he heaved his arms up. Throwing either of the two smaller girls towards the rafters, where overhead Agappa gazed with bleary eyes. Wriggle drifted upwards effortlessly. Cirno floated in place, gazing down with nervous eyes as Oscar dove into the kitchen. The beast in hot pursuit… The door thudded loudly as it shifted behind him. The door of rotted wood doing little to reassure him of his safety. In an instant, he threw himself into securing the doorway. A piece of firewood rammed into the sliding frame. Heavy earthen pots filled with scents he dared not think about slid into place. Scarcely a moment too soon. The lumbering thing rammed against the door, scarcely holding. With a few moments to himself, his eyes cast around the space, scrambling as he pulled his phone from his pocket. 18% power. Just enough for this stunt. Plugging in the appropriate add-on, he glanced around the room. Finding what he wanted more by the acrid scent of rotting meat than any logic. The piece of dried meat was beginning to age, but even the rot on it was not as strong as the air around it. This would do nicely… All he had to do was record. The door splintered. Shuddering on its frame before it fell away. The formidable shape elbowing its way through the door. Before him, the cocksure wizard stood. A willful smile on his face. “The monster at last arrives, to face the champion of legend.” “Silence! I will hang you by your neck!” The smile on his face, if anything, seemed to grow wider. Even as the lumbering thing drew nearer, he spread his arms to either side. “But Mister Youkai...I have no neck.” A low, soft but growing laugh escaped his lips at those words. His head in its top hat began to sway, shifting unnaturally from side to side. Until it seemed to fully detach. His curly brown hair swaying with the motion, revealing a mass of putrid dried meat where his neck should have been. The beast stared with its yellow eyes, the red and orange ones closed for now. Gazing at the face drifting overhead. That laugh of his ringing in his ears. The monster raised a hand, shaking just a little as he did, before grasping at the figure. Only to see his fingers move straight through it. Oscar’s laughter redoubled as the monster turned. Sprinting from the room in alarm. The room was still for a moment, before Oscar stepped from a darkened corner of the room, where his cloak had been wrapped around him. He sighed with relief as he gathered up his phone, the mobile projector beside it still glowing as his laughing face faded. The youkai and fairy watched form their perch overhead as the monster lumbered into the room. A moment later, it came sprinting from the kitchen. Its orange eyes closed, the yellow and red looking around in sudden fright as it fled towards the darkened halls. A moment later, Oscar emerged. One hand brushing at his cape. Cirno descended, happiness etched into her finer features. Wriggle, at least, did not look completely displeased. Agappa had her same expression as usual. “O-Osu! Are you okay? That youkai didn’t eat you did he?” “Hmph, why didn’t you destroy him?” “Nice to see you’re alive too Wriggle.” Despite Wriggle’s renewed hostility, Oscar found he couldn’t stop smiling. His hand rose. Brushing affectionately at Cirno’s hair even as Agappa slid down to join them. “Now little ladies, I think its time we get out of here.” “Bright thinking, Mister Great and Powerful. How are we going to do that?” That...was a good question. And that Youkai was still in here somewhere... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= What next? =Welp, best way out is how we came in. = There's a window here in the kitchen. Maybe we can slip out that way. = Wriggle's insect friends bring news of a hidden tunnel under the house. = I still don't see why we can't just break through a wall.
