kind of explanatory similar to that of my characters forum. was the reason why you stayed is because of the characters, the fact touhou is still ongoing and wait to see more? or maybe just the fact its all a banger soundtracks and remixes? for me, this era of mine came after my nintendo era, its the fact they copyright everything and take down everything in sight, but touhou? the copyright is almost not there, just follow ZUN's rules and youre sailing, the amount of freedom is amazing with doing whatever we want as long as we follow ZUN's rules, yknow? but yeah, everything from touhou is a banger and there's something for everyone in touhou. plus crossovers too!! how about you?1 point

Am glad. :) Tbh, I've been a little leery of horror scenes since Kimiko. I don't just use the reactions as a gimmick for the CYOA, but to gauge everyone's interest. That entry has the lowest number. Granted, it was the start of this experiment, and I think the lack of votes was partly because it was so long. Good guess! I'm not sure I recognize it. Details can apply to a few different Youkai I can think of, though nothing is a match. But I'll leak one detail on my youkai I have chosen: So far in the house, the group has not encountered one Youkai. They have encountered *three* now. One I have referenced but not by name, the Inugami of the Fortune Teller, and the most recent one, but we'll have an entry on them in the next post. Side note. Youkai being afraid of eyes is a common motif, especially those with Buddhist undertones like Agappa. As always, all options are viable, even if some are moreso than others. I won't tip you all off one way or another, I'll just go with whatever you pick. ;)1 point

Greetings. Do not feel bad about having a more horror vibe, it is very fitting, and having a variety of moods help to keep a story fresh. Besides, it is not the first time, the early chapter were very tense. And we are in spooky month, so it fits . A new Youkai, yay! I think I know which one it is, but I have forgotten the name. Is it the one that make people want to commit S then it hang a lock of it hairs (shaped like a rope with a knot) so that they give in and K themselves? I don't remember if they had many eyes though (Oh, so that's what Aggapa saw. Meaning she'll be useless against it) The options now, I doubt talking to that Youkai would work, unless Oscar convince the Youkai that Wriggle and Cirno can't be hanged since they can fly, but then the Youkai might want Oscar to hang as well. Maybe there's a magic trick where Oscar can levitate, making the Youkai leave in disappointment. Hey, that's might not be a bad idea after all . Though if it is the Youkai I am thinking, Oscar would need some kind of protection, or else he could be manipulated into committing S (oh, potential tension, I like the idea more and more, especially given Oscar might have S before to end up in Gensokyo) Reading a random spell from the grimoire sounds pretty funny, but it could be the beginning of Oscar turning into a real magician (Him being a "fake" magician may be one of the reason he ended up in Gensokyo, cause people lost faith even in "fake" magic. Doubt it, but possible). Flashbomb could be effective, but a bit boring if you ask me. Asserting the situation for hints as to what's keeping the Youkai trapped could work, but Wriggle and Cirno are in danger. Well, turns out I'll change my vote.1 point

Since my explanation wasn't the sharpest for Wits (lol) and I have a couple of minutes before work, let me try again. :) So Youkai in GSG take inspiration from not just Touhou but traditional Japanese lore. Meaning they have strange habits and limitations. Looking into the room, it looks like this thing was trapped in a room with only a paper door as an obstacle. One Wriggle going through removed. That said I'd be lying if I didn't say the flash bombs was my second favorite option. Outside opening a grimoire, flipping to a random page and reading. ...Klaatu barada nikto...1 point

Oof, Master, I see you are very passionate about the main games, with a reply like this then perhaps I can't escape anymore. I'll need to plan a day just to try my hand at it, which might become a problem because when I start something, I tend to follow through it to the very end so when the time is right, I'll start with Koumakyou and if I end up liking it enough then I'll make a saga of reviewing it all up to Touhou 19 (Forgot the name lol). JESUS, Yume, are you a soldier or something? I'm sorry for your loss. To be honest with you, I started following you mostly because of my little mess up back in the day, however, it turned out you are so good at this that I'm unable to leave anymore Take responsibility also as I said earlier, I tend to follow things to the end so you don't have to worry too much, so you may already consider my day brightened. Considering that you said we bring some stability to your life, I guess being around is a plus in those trying times you may be passing, life is full of ups and downs but keep steady and feel free to take a break should you need it. Stay safe Yumetou, I mean it. Alright, finally to the chapter! The horror part was a nice touch, we can't run away from it if we are making a "realistic" Gensokyo setting, so don't be scared of trying to add it to your entries, although, I have to admit that I was too busy finding Team 9 antics to be cute to actually feel the horror, I mean, it almost felt like watching Scooby-Doo for a moment. As for my choice, yeah, I don't know enough of this youkai to risk the first option, and trying to talk it down feels like a dumb idea, instead, I ALMOST chose to try and read Marisa's tome but it will probably sound like pure gibberish. So I went with the safe option of using the old and reliable flashbang. P.S: If anyone here does know if that guy is weak to closed doors, please, do tell me, maybe we can trap him and continue to explore for more loot.1 point

This video unlocked a memory back in 6th grade when my hair was kinda long for a boy (like a sorry excuse of a bob cut) and this girl tied one side to make it look like one of those pony-tails but on the side that I only ever see in animes. When I looked over to the other boys they pointed and laughed but those girls insisted I looked cute. Were they fucking with me? I was already the socially awkward quiet kid who couldn't pick up on social cues so it's still a mystery to me to this day. Regardless, I kept it the whole day til the tiny rubber band thingy holding my hair finally snapped. I still yearn for that one day I get to feel cute despite looking ridiculous. I've always wanted to grow my hair but schools and relatives always gets me to mow it down before I start looking like a hobo. But now that I'm done with high school I finally got a chance to turn into Diavolo! I've also got that old asian sage that probably kicks ass in martial arts tournament beard layout so I've wanted to grow them to do the full hermit-that-dispenses-life-changing-wisdom loadout but they haven't moved an inch since high school so I guess I gotta mow that and just go straight for the strawberry-haired mafia boss style. Anyways I'm supposed to add to this thread but everyone already knows the people I watch so here's one my favorite from Leon Massey whom I discovered for his mostly fighting game essays. This one really got me realizing how much games is built around combat and how we even got here. I played the old point and click Fallout 1 and 2 and I think those games were awesome and later played Disco Elysium thinking I'd enjoy it since I've enjoyed point and click adventures with RPG elements before but the lack of combat really made it feel very slow and I just couldn't get past the first 2 hours. I'd really like to try other games where combat (or anything where life is at stake) is not the main focus and its just you interacting with the game's silly mechanics but I find it hard to focus without someone dangling keys in front of me.1 point

Hi, long time no see! This time there will be very few, and very dubious, but still finds. 1: Touhou on nicktoons??? I found a video from one guy, where they supposedly show a fan animation of touhou on Nicktoons. At the same time, he called the video lost media, and in the description it says that he downloaded it from some remote site. Honestly, it looks very much like a fake, but I decided to share. I would not pay much attention to this, if the same video was not posted on another channel. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0b0efh64Qg https://youtube.com/shorts/NYxQemsnqMw?si=8ZuClr7hvzQ689rC https://youtu.be/mXhaZbv-m1s?si=DYYf8jT8BmMesIu5 2: KKHTA P*rn... Someone drew p*rn art based on KKHTA. It got noticed on Reddit. However, after some time, the author deleted the art. All that remains is a part of the art itself, its saved page on the Wayback Machine, which only shows a white background, and another version of the full art. My favorite would probably be Sanae She just feels like the most "realistically relatable" to me if that makes any sense, which is kind of ironic considering she's essentially half god. Hear me out Comes from the outside world, up until then lived a normal life Probably a huge geek (I read this somewhere, forgot where) Thinks everything in Gensokyo is cool, especially extermination I mean, you could connect Sumireko to this to but... 2 words: Superiority Complex. And I like Sanae's design more, though I would admit its a bit plain compared to other characters. But that's just me--1 point

Inugami ‘Dog Spirit’ An ancient practice dating to the earliest days of Japan, Inugami are spirits of canines sacrificed in arcane rituals. From this ritual, a protective spirit is born in service of the family, who keep its mummified remains in a secret shrine, usually buried. These beings serve as bodyguards and agents. Protecting their patron from danger or sabotaging their enemies. Among their abilities are the power to manifest as a dog, invisibility, the power to strike others with illness, and the ability to affect moods or dispositions. A spiritual attack by an Inugami is difficult to repel and often requires a master sorcerer to remove. Signs of this affliction may include mood swings, pain in the chest, hands or arms, deep jealousy or taking on dog-like mannerisms. Inugami are hereditary, passing from one generation to the next, and even after their master’s death they will work to serve or avenge their patron. Due to this, the practice of summoning Inugami was strictly forbidden, with even the accusation of consorting with one leading to the exile of any noble accused of having an Inugami as a familiar. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Elsewhere… =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= “I thought the Fortune Teller was supposed to be rich! You’d think if he was so well off, his kitchen would be nicer!” Cirno scoffed at the odor of rot which flowed out of the kitchen. One hand resting over her mouth and nose in a desperate bid to keep the scent at bay. A mix of putrid meats and rotted vegetables which wafted in the room. To be honest, Wriggle thought it didn’t smell half bad. “He wasn’t that rich, and he’s been dead for years now anyway,” Wriggle replied back with a smile and roll of her eyes. She hovered upwards slowly, peering down into the pots beneath for anything useful. Her only warning that someone was watching her, was the sensation of something large striking her upon her back. “H-hey!” She managed that much before she turned. Wings buzzing threateningly. Half expecting to see Cirno trying to prank her, or a large aggressive insect taking offense to her looking over its meal. She didn’t see anything though...Nothing except Cirno, hovering on the other side of the room in search of sweets. Her wings gave a curt buzz for the insects in the room, before returning to her search. “Its not like he’s been back here to clean up the place.” “Yeah, but…” Cirno said, peering inside a ceramic pot. Which disappointingly was empty of sweets. “Someone had to be here, right? Why else would the food all be bad?” The question was stupid. Really stupid. The stupidest thing she may have heard all day. She couldn’t keep it from her expression as she turned around and stared at Cirno. “What?” “Yeah. I mean,” Cirno said as she turned. Absentmindedly scratching at her head while she thought aloud. “The food at my place doesn’t rot. The only insects I’ve ever seen there are your friends. Which log-ick-ally means another Youkai must have been here and brought them, right?” A voice in the back of Wriggle’s mind had to admit her thoughts made logical sense from Cirno’s perspective. The sound of the voice slowly receded in her mind amid a swell of sudden anger. Cirno and she had been friends for years. And not once had she ever noticed the way her insect friends acted in the wild? She had never noticed a rotten tree or dead animal? “This is why everyone thinks you are an idiot,” She said. Buzzing her wings as she gave up on the pots and stomped for the door. Cirno looked on in shock, before following after her. “H-hey! You’ve never called me that before! Why did--” “Why do you never pay attention to anything?” “Huh?” The putrid smell of the kitchen receded. Giving way to the scent of rotting wood amid the faux luxury of the crumbling mansion. Not that Wriggle saw much of it. All she could think of was the fairy hovering behind her. Staring with that same bewildered look she always did when she was awakened in class by Keine. “Can’t you take anything seriously? We’re in a house that might be cursed and you’re looking for cookies like a child! Come to think of it, why are we even here? Its all that human’s idea.” “ ‘That human?’ His name is Osu, he’s our friend.” “Who decided that?” “He saved Rumia from Princess Plantface.” “And where’s Rumia now? Still lost. But you can’t stop talking about him. Remember last night? ‘Where’s Osu-san?’ ‘I hope he doesn't get scared on his own' 'Please Osu-san don't be eaten by wild Youkai' ‘Wahahaha I lost two friends in one night! Promise you’ll never leave me Dai-chan!’.” For a few moments, Cirno was left in stunned silence. Only able to stare wide-eyed as Wriggle yelled in front of her. She and Wriggle had been friends for...longer than she could count. But Cirno couldn’t ever remember her acting like this. At the mention of Rumia however, she felt her core go cold. Her hands clenched slowly. Glaring back at her friend as her small teeth ground together. “Don’t. Talk about Rumia like that! She’s out there, we just have to find her!” “So why are we here? Or are you too stupid to realize his game? A random human wandering the forest in need of help? I bet he’s working with Kimiko! I think he’s a Magician who wants the Fortune Teller’s secrets, and you led him right to them!” “It was Mystia’s idea you jerk!” “Why are we here then Cirno? Explain it to me with your baka brai--” With bitter tears freezing to her face, the ice fairy lunged her hands forward. Shoving the unsuspecting youkai against a yellowing paper door. The wood crumbled under Wriggle’s scant weight. Cirno’s expression softened, even if the tears clung to her face. Wriggle started to push herself up, so focused on the moment she didn’t notice her wave of anger had seemingly vanished. Her confusion was broken by the sound of something shuffling behind her. Her antennae bobbed as she gazed into the gloom. Cirno, sensing a shift in mood, peered around her into the dark. Before a hideous face emerged from the dark. It was a deep blue, bulbous, atop the frame of a man. At first glance, the face had far too many folds. Though this impression was proven wrong as six, spread at random across its face, opened. Piercing gazes fixed themselves on the two. One eye red, two orange, and three yellow. “Would you like to hang from your neck?” The two friends screamed in alarm. Their argument forgotten as they clung to one another. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Oscar turned to Agappa with a smile. The bulk of the books under his arms were difficult, but he thought he had a good grip on them. She clung to him, not even glancing up at him. “Well Agappa, I think that’s close enough for government work. Let’s find the others and--” The scream of the two cut through the library in an instant. Oscar didn’t need to guess who had screamed. Nor how serious the situation must have been for the two to be so frightened. He rushed from the room, practically taking Agappa off her feet as he rushed out into the courtyard. Not noticing the crease in the paper set in the wall as it opened to watch him run. His shoes were not meant for his dead sprint, but they loudly rang against the crumbling wood as he scrambled down the stairs towards the sound of the screams. The two huddled together like lost children in the hallway, staring as a hulking figure approached them. He wasn't much taller than they were, and was only slightly larger in build. Were it not for his head, which was as tall as his body. A pair of orange eyes gazed piercingly at them from a dark blue face. One on the right of its forehead and the other almost sliding down its left cheek as it spoke. "Would you like to hang from your neck?" The figure was frightening, even if it had not noticed him. Indeed, so startling was it, that Oscar almost failed to notice the shape of a dog's skull circling Wriggle overhead. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= What now? = The door is already on the ground, and Wriggle was lying on it. Was this monster really trapped by just a paper door? = Maybe greeting the creature will give you the chance to talk it down? = Quick, grab the grimoire you won from Marisa and read what's inside! It might intimidate the monster. = The monster's distracted. Throw a flash bomb and blind it, then grab your friends and run.0 points
