I'm back! It seems that now the cat is out of the bag... didn't expect to fumble stealth this early but getting a taste of fighting should be beneficial for us in the long run, normally i wouldn't use my trump in the first mob that appears but since Kymoh already voted for it and my own curiosity asks for it then let's be a bit bold for now. Also while the "Queen Remilia" thing sounds very in character i'm still having my doubts about what you call "Fairy State", how are they even managing themselves? A very hardened Dai is probably the president or something, maybe a prime minister? while Cirno acts as the "face" of the state. Not only that but i'm pretty sure i read about some sort of Hakurei military in the earlier chapters too, Reimu even bothering to build an army? Oof, sounds almost unreal.

And i just learned how to quote! Welp, i should say that you somehow managed to fit in a story almost everything i was searching for in a Touhou quest, namely, building up a random guy from the ground up, not only that but you seem to be really knowledgeable yourself so i could say that i'm "eating good" this time and that you deserve all the attention i can spare. About Oscar, i can straight up say that i would completely hate any boss fight against him, i have my own philosophy that half of a conflict, be it a simple debate or a fight, happens inside one's own mind. What do i mean with it? Well, Oscar is literally faking his way into Gensokyo and magicianhood with fancy words and cheap tricks, and that only works because They Don't know it. In a fight, people normally wouldn't have a way to tell if Oscar is tricking you or not unless you already have him figured out but on the other hand, Oscar himself thinks he is inside his ELEMENT, right now he has the best possible mentality he could ever have since his "innocence" prevents him from understanding that he proclaims the equivalent of Inhumanity in a supernatural sense, to him, he is simply doing what he already did his whole life. Eventually, he will have a few wake-up calls, this is unavoidable, and he will discover how deep he is into the rabbit hole but by then i would expect that he will have his powers to back him up. Agreed, i never feared Marisa for possibly murderizing a man in the middle of the controversial "Hooman village", no, what i feared was the destruction of said mentality i wrote above, the last thing we need is to have Ozy doubt himself or worse, to lose a very specific card he has right now, the power to state a WRONG fact without actually lying! Yes, he is not a magician and can't do magic, but he doesn't lie about being a magician, it's just that to him, a magician is the same thing as a profession (a questionable one but still a profession). And that is not a lie, probably the reason why Agappa is so interested in him since she clearly knows he is a normal human but at the same time is not lying at all, must be quite a paradox in her eyes or eye. Back to Marisa, her long historic as the underdog probably was the reason to why she chose to believe that Ozeyas was so skilled that she just couldn't sense him casting, after all, she was stated to have achieved her place through hard work and a questionable behavior, probably explains her obsession with big booms and shining lasers which might be a way to show that she is more than what she seems. Kind of like how some animals try to appear larger to intimidate potential predators, with that said, should be in our best interest to avoid an actual proud magician like the one whose surname is literally Knowledge, not only because she would never fall for such a trick but because we have a very questionable book in our inventory right now. Reimu, another sore topic, as Nyoko said, Oskers right now is an anomaly but not only that, he is an Outsider who claims Youkaihood. You guys probably know about the infamous fortune teller and i'm not faulting Reimu for doing what she must, but right now Oscar is in a strange gray area where he is not really a human from Gensokyo and at the same time now part of it, meaning that technically they have no legal power over him unless he chooses to settle in the village and officially stay in Gensokyo forever which he probably wouldn't like. To be honest here, as much as i like Gensokyo, someone like me would never realistically be able to last there, the main objective would be to return to society asap and Oscar should be feeling the same right now. So sad that his fate is now in our hands no? Don't want to sound like a villain but despite my concern for his safety and well-being, Ozymandias is now a tool for my own amusement and as such he will be denied a normal life for as long as i can influence it, Be strong now Osu! On a side note let's keep some distance from the Hakurei shrine for now... Oh and before i forget, i think Yukari would find a weird use for his skills too, performing what seems to be a magical feat in the eyes of the villagers would further advance the shady Youkai agenda.

Alright, as part of research to create a timeline for fan activity within Western Touhou Fandom, I discovered a some neat info about a lost Touhou circle called Distant Union. Distant Union was a circle in the United States that published physical Touhou fan books alongside pdfs online. This was paired with an online store site called Doublepuma Store. The only other Touhou circle in the United States I know of is Fantasy Mechanics, which deals with fangame creation instead of fan books.

Sanguine Rose came from these lands. While Queen Remilia seemed honourable and a decent ruler for a land… Her people seem less than honourable, so I should watch my back. Even under the cover of the sun, this black uniform grants a kind of camouflage in the shade of the trees. I should still watch out as this is not a perfect camouflage like certain bugs or insects have, but it’ll have to do. I follow behind the caravan, sneaking across trees, arches and grottos so I always know where it is. But after about an hour or five of this sneaking around, something peaks my interest. The sweet stench of blood fills the air around me, and I can’t help but investigate where it is coming from… It appears to be from a battlefield, though I can’t figure out who won and who lost from the bodies I can see. It does appear to be a fight between the Scarlet’s military police and some bandits… which is probably why the Empire is known to be the safest place in Gensokyo. A little further, the bandits who seem to be primarily made up of Western Youkai, catch me off guard. Some are wearing garments worthy of a commoner, others wearing hastily-made clothing likely because they have no money. I guess they did not have time to loot the corpses on that battlefield earlier for some better clothes. “Ye mone’ o’ ye li’e!” the one who seems to be the leader shouts in an accent matching her position as a criminal. Well, antagonizing them for their lack of time is going to end very poorly, so I’ll keep my mouth shut as I think about how to escape this predicament. They have completely surrounded me, all five of them, and something tells me they won’t take ‘I have no money’ as an answer… There is a hill behind me that drops down to the road, but I would most certainly get caught by the caravan I was following as I hear it coming… When did I get in front of it? Also, what do I do with those bandits? \------------------------------------------/ HP: 144 MP: 48 No crippled body parts New Items and/or Equipment: Nothing Attempt to find a fault in their encirclement. → They’re exhausted, and some are even bleeding. Give them their own money. → Perhaps their exhaustion makes them less vigilant. Give something else away. → Substitution is the primary skill you must learn on the Plains, but it is surprisingly useful outside of there as well. Jump off the cliff. → I’d rather be horribly maimed than give criminals a chance to kill me! Make them witness their own horrors. (-22 MP) → Laying bare their hearts should confuse the enemy enough for me to dash. Some Military police barely clinging to life provide a distraction. ...Are those more bandits on their way here?

jesterdist - Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom, Nuclear Fusion V2 Not only have I featured jesterdist before, but it was a previous remix of this same piece. I was impressed then, and I'm freshly impressed now; there's an energy to this arrangement that isn't quite the same as a typical rock remix, and it compliments the piece excellently. Kurodama - The Last Remote Similarly, I posted a Nuclear Fusion performance from this guy some years ago. The skill in diversifying a solo-instrument performance such as this is inspiring. With NicoVideo still down, I'm at the mercy of the reposter as to proper accreditation; hopefully it's sufficient to relocate when needed. as key_ (_bazaar records?) - Eat up my HEART??? I deliberating on this one a bit, due to having other options I technically preferred while having held on to this particular remix for some time now. I hold Hartmann's is overrated, but the motifs have been utilized admirably by many talented musicians. I'd prefer if they didn't always "give in" to the refrain, rather committing to the eerie tone the piece starts out with, but I understand the temptation.

Magician A Magician, not to be confused with the various magic users of Gensokyo, can refer to either an item imbibed with magic which animates it, or a human who has ascended to a higher state through magic. Using a series of rituals, Magicians purge themselves of human limitations, such as the need for food or aging. Instead, they feed on raw magical potential, often taking up residence in mystic towers, forgotten ruins or arcane libraries. Their extensive lifespans and need for magical knowledge insures even a young Magician is a formidable magic-wielder, though the level of study needed to become one insures they are few in number. Pulling out a book, and slamming it on the table. It was an old thing, that much was obvious. Its surface worn from countless nights of reading. The cover clearly depicted some kind of Chinese design, complete with a dragon in its center. Whatever it was though, it was sure to be valuable. “This will suffice, child.” “...Child? I own my own store, ze.” “I am willing to wager a tome of my own against this. If you win, I pass it to you. If I win, I keep this as my prize.” Oscar gestured to the side. Agappa’s eyes dully rose, the visible black book emerging from the handbag around her neck. Its surface traced with Occidental designs. “...Okay, that’s more like it.” The young woman’s smile flaring under her thick blond hair and wide-brimmed hat. “Ready for some flashy dan...” Her words died on her lips as Oscar silently rolled a ball under a cup, and began to shift them in place. His hands moving with a building speed, until they were a blur. Team 9 stared in slowly building awe at the display. Until Oscar eased the cups to their final position. “Choose your cup, and claim your prize.” Silence descended upon the crowd. None of the children, whether human or Team 9, dared to even breathe. Scarcely standing over them, and only just meeting Oscar’s gaze sitting down, the witch flashed a frown of discontent. Before her eyes fell to the cups. Holding aloft her broom, she deliberately set it against the cup on the right. When her eyes went to him, they seemed entirely robbed of their earlier energy. Before the handle of the broom flicked aside the cup. There was nothing inside. The crowd seemed to slowly take a breath. Marisa on the other hand bent her knees, eyeing the other two cups. Carefully peeling back the remaining two to reveal… Nothing. “Wow, that’s not bad.” She said, a hand extending to run over where the ball would be. The fake ceilings in the cups staring back as she peered inside. Brightness returning to her face as she held out a hand. “I thought you were pullin’ my leg, but a spell like that takes real skill. I didn’t even sense you castin’ it.” “Such paltry things are only a fraction of the power of Oscar Diggs, master of the arcane.” “Cool. So...wanna danmaku fight?” There it was again. That word. Narumi had said it earlier, and he still had no idea what it was. His ignorance was not helped by Marisa wriggling her eyebrows at him. “Alas, I have not the time. Please, your wager.” “Ehh?! The witch turned, her eyes flicking to Cirno in her disguised state. The expression on her face was...weird. It wasn’t fear, he didn’t think. But very much a kind of nervousness. Cirno had been almost fearless of Kimiko, but something in the lines of her face said she knew what the stranger was capable of. The other three looked just as nervous. But somehow, Cirno managed to speak. “Osu-san is...n-new, to Gensokyo. He doesn’t even have his spellcards yet.” “Oh. OH.” Comprehension and surprise dawned on the blond’s face as she turned back to him. Extending her hand. “That explains everything. I’m Marisa. You kin think of me as a big deal ‘round here. You kin consider this yer welcoming present from me.” With only a moment’s hesitation, she pushed the book towards Oscar. The man completely unaware she already had half a plan to get it back by the next day. Idly, he took it, stowing it in Agappa’s bag as Marisa smiled to him. “So, yer Oscar Diggs?
