  1. My first topic on here and yeah, the tittle. May be a dumb question. I personally think the map is straight up amazing. So much detail and so much effort went into it, it's unreal. There are a bit of inconsistencies maybe (If I recall corectly the PSHV is located near the Hakurei shrine, but in the MC map it's way off in the corner of the map). I've been exploring it by foot for the last few days and honestly it feels much better than flying in creative. Makes you really appreciate the map.

  2. I'm stupid... wait no that's not my nickname lol, what i mean is that we have a dedicated thread to post reviews and i completely missed it, i believe this is here to make sure your other thread stays unpolluted by random replies making it easier to focus on the story which is completely reasonable considering i haven't found the "Reader Mode" other sites like SP or QQ have. So i sincerely apologize for messing that up, feel free to ask someone to delete the review if you want, i think the message i wanted to convey has already reached you so it's okay to get rid of it. Now speaking about the story, it's funny that i also missed the fact that Osu is a redhead which further alienates him from other villagers since most non-youkai villager should look like your average asiatic guy, it's probably going to become his trademark along with the top hat. I also hope team 9 will appear after school this time around just because their *Surprised Pikachu Face* is going to be funny to see, Rumia seems to have some lingering feelings about trying to eat Oscar but it's kinda of understandable considering she was and probably still is starving. Overall, i should say thanks for the treat, especially interesting to see that our TRUE ordinary magic man needs to worry about his finances. With Love, Yer frend, Good and Ol' me

  3. Short answer: there'll be a spotlight so I don't have to think about every interaction that happens in between the Nations of Gensokyo at all times, but they all exist to a certain extent. Long answer: For this first 'arc' it'll mostly be the Scarlet Empire and the Underworld taking the spotlight, as they are the most important and the ones with the most lore to utilize (as well as the ones who would have a decently unbiased and complete education). But I have plans for almost all of the factions to make them important sometime in the future (except for the Garden of the Sun, they've been willingly vassalized.) but I'll let you in on the starting line of thought for the two you seem to want me to discard for my own sanity. For the Hermits (which I assume to be Senkai): That Mausoleum has to have appeared or will appear somewhere due to the waning magic, the question is how long can those hermits last before they realize they have to exist in the physical realm? Also, where will they appear? For the Netherworld: The Yama have lost new hell and most heavens as well as 冥途 (Meido) [which functioned as a court]. They're going to want those facilities back. All in all, just one realm outlined in the RPG has been slightly changed and even then they might become important down the line, likely diplomatically. But let us first get back to the country Mina is a citizen of so she does not have to go back to the Sanguine Warband and risk her life again.

  4. Woo! Can't wait to see what comes next. :) Did you shave down the factions? I had a lot of them in the original RPG idea, mostly to give the player characters a lot of potential leads and make the world feel more expansive. But having so many factions might be a weight on the story. Some didn't really have any impact on the setting either. I don't think either the Hermits or the Netherworld are even referenced outside a faction outline.

  6. Currency in Gensokyo For average everyday exchanges, most people—whether Human, Youkai, Spirit or Devil—use Mon. A currency traditionally used in pre-modern Japan. These appear as a round, decorative coin with a square or round hole in the center. These may be made of gold, silver, iron, bronze or even copper. Their worth may be less obvious than in Outside currency, but in general their size and the metal used indicate their value. Be warned natives will often try to use your ignorance to their advantage, claiming the coin is worth less than you suppose. The coins themselves are named for the unit of weight, which reflect their value, rather than the metal inherently used. If you are uncertain, insist on your coin being weighed by a third party. Mon are the base currency, equivalent to ‘cents’ or individual ‘yen’ on Earth. These are usually made of copper or iron. More valuable coins are cast in Silver or Gold and are known as Shu, Bu and Ryo. Gensokyo’s insular economy means ‘exchange rates’ or inflation are alien concepts, insuring a stable if stagnant economy. 4000 Mon are equal to 16 Shu. 16 Shu is equal to 4 Bu. 4 Bu is equal to 1 Ryo. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= It did not take long for the young magician’s cries to draw attention. Even along a street so desolate as this. The farmers and fishermen may have been hard at work, the craftsmen and merchants minding their tables. But his specialty had always been youngsters. Even if he loathed being typecast as a children’s performer. Across from him, in the courtyard of the Heida School a number of youths played among themselves. Some engaging in simple games of ball and rope. Others in make-believe, aided with sticks and stones. One of these chased a fellow student, before Oscar’s cries drew his gaze. Most of the townsfolk seemed to be fairly like what he would expect of a Japanese village. This one was much the same, except for one feature. His straight, short hair was a rich red. The youth glanced back at his friends, before hurrying out towards the street. Brown eyes assessing him curiously. Despite this, he seemed skiddish of the world around him. Scurrying across the road with a burst of speed, before stopping to stare. Body tensed as if expecting Oscar to jump at him… Oscar felt his heart sink at his approach. Both because his first victim was a child, and because he wouldn’t have much money. Still, presentation and confidence were key in pulling in others. He flashed a grin. Extending a hand with the ball. “Ahh, a brave soul, at last! Do you have the courage to challenge my arcane mastery?” The young man’s brown eyes gazed up in nervous wonder. Before eventually managing a nod. “Very well then! Place your wager on the counter. If you succeed, I will double your money.” With sudden animation, his hands went to his side. Feeling for a small ring of bronze coins. Oscar’s heart sank again as the child pulled the leather cord and dropped it on the ‘table’. Not only did he have no idea what kind of money it was, the kid didn’t even have that much. And he didn’t need to be a master magician to know the fact they were bronze meant they were borderline worthless. Focus, Oscar. Presentation. “Very well, child.” With an agile motion, the ball rolled beneath the cup, marked only with a tap of the finger. And with a flurry of motion, Oscar shifted the cups in place. Whirling them around one another with a finesse worthy of the best con man. The young man’s eyes remained on the display, mouth open slightly. Until the cups came to a stop. “Now choose! Which of these contains my magic ball? Do you have the will to see past the veil of our reality?” To the side, Agappa sat. A frozen expression of fascination bordering on horror upon her face. Eyes staring levelly with the table. To the young man’s credit, he ignored her, which was more than Oscar could say. Instead extending a small finger, and bringing it against the correct cup. “Its this one...right?” Oscar had to admit. The kid had sharp eyes. Which made his satisfaction as he leaned the cup backwards to reveal nothing inside all the more satisfying. The youth stared transfixed. It was only then Oscar noticed, a few others were standing nearby watching. “W-wow! How did you do that?!” The child exclaimed, gazing at the cup. Oscar smiled knowingly at him. It took him a few moments to realize that he had lost his money. Those brown eyes turned low, hair covered his face as he reached slowly for the coins on their string, and extended it to Oscar. ...Damn. It was probably all he had too… “Keep it, son.” “Huh?” The magician smiled down at the surprised youth. “I said I would double your money if you chose the right one. I never said anything about taking yours. But…” The motion was one most kids back home knew, though he doubted any would know it here. It would be worth a hell of a lot more than five cents. Oscar extended his hand towards the young man, who could only nervously watch as the hand slipped behind his ear. Before producing a single nickel. The expression on his face was priceless. “Woooahhh...you really are a magician!” Oscar grinned at that. Almost as widely as the youth. Sometimes being the good guy paid off. His hand rose, giving the kid a ruffle of his tidy red hair. “There you are, kid. Tell your friends about me.” The kid turned with an excited cry. Holding aloft his strange, newfound treasure as he rushed back to the others. Well. His con-act had only just started, and he was already down five cents. But he seemed to have made a good impression, and already other children were hurrying, both to watch his trick, and to wager their money they could chose the right cup. Eventually, he’d stop feeling guilty about this… =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= You've time for another set of customers! Who shall it be? = A group of students from the Temple School out on recess. 7. Viktor Sharii - Lullaby of Deserted Hell I actually found this one a while back. There were plenty of other options, but this stuck with me as being especially appropriate for the source material. The motifs work in a wide variety of situations, but nothing beats the serenity of a good solo for it imo. Avenue Room - Dazzling Hellfire To balance out the energy, this is a far jumpier arrangement. I've said before how much I appreciate folk rock hybrids, and this is an excellent example made all the more intriguing by the varying motifs it has to work with. T-Jerion - Hellfire Mantle I wavered on this one for a while; I wanted something semi-climactic, but not too climactic, lest I short-change the follow-up (a silly consideration, but still . . .). I couldn't say what finally decided it, but I'm fairly settled now.
