Sigh. I've mentioned in the past I hate making longer entries in the GSG. Oh, I love writing them, but they seem to intimidate readers, or perhaps they just don't have the time to read my longer entries. Which is sad, since I am writing them for you as well as me. This week I had to bite the bullet though. Every time I tried to tighten the entry, it felt like it left at a boring point for the audience. I mean 'you are in an unfamiliar place, you see a lady with a house for a hat ahead of you. What do you do' isn't the best ending point. And her hurrying Oscar to bed was equally dull. Hopefully you all enjoy the entry regardless! I am hoping to start writing these twice a week as my life's chaos begins to fade. Hoping for shorter entries too from now on, meaning they will be faster, easier, and better for the audience to read.2 points

The Human Village Erroneous and simple name aside, the Human Village is the main settlement of humanity within Gensokyo. Lying along the Canal of Willows and encircled by the Forest of Magic, the Human Village is a walled Japanese style village of the late Meiji era. It is home to numerous sites of note, including the Hakurei Shrine just outside the village, Hieda Temple, Suzunaan book shop, numerous stores, and the only school in the region. It is largely inhabited by humans native to Gensokyo, though a sizable minority of humans from various Outside World countries may be found here as well. As a new arrival to the Human Village, you will have both distinct advantages and disadvantages over the natives. You will be both healthier and better educated than most natives. However, you will need to learn Japanese, as well as the dangers of living in Gensokyo, and most of your education and life experience will be of little help. The Heida Temple School offers free education for Outsiders, with the understanding you will integrate and assist the village. Opportunities to make money for Outsiders were typically few, however Otherworldly Ventures has invested in a number of facilities to assist in both housing and vocational training, in exchange for half your income and contract of service. Usually for five years. A few examples of Otherworldly Ventures storefronts include: Azuma no Pizza-ya Daiyousei Sharecropping Honengyo Fishery Perry Lumber Company A Normal Human Blacksmithy Bintara Clinic & Pharmacy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Among the throngs of people lining the road, a figure moved among them. Drifting between the curious observers effortlessly. She had lived in this village far longer than most, and knew its superstitious inhabitants well. Which made her all the more leery of what lay beyond the wooden gate outside… For his part, Oscar rocked back and forth on his toes. His little trick had worked, but the line of eyes gazing down at him and the silence was beginning to unnerve him. The quiet was thankfully broken as the double doors swung open. He wasn’t sure what he had been expecting. But the woman in her blue dress and square hat definitely hadn’t been it. Despite her simple dress, the stern look she gave under her long white hair was enough to freeze the blood. A fact made doubly sure as Agappa crept behind him. Peering nervously around him. Yet again he was a barrier between two people… “Ah, good evening.” He said, his throat finally mustering the courage to speak. “I’m--” “Come with me, Outsider.” Her tone was curt, but she left the gate open as she turned. Which was more than enough for Oscar. The Magician followed after her. A fresh sense of relief washed over him as he passed under the gate. He had no idea where it was or how he came here. But for now, he was safe… =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The gate creaked audibly as it swung shut. Blocking out the nighttime sounds of the forest and securing the village once again. Three pairs of eyes gazed from the darkness. Kimiko’s voice cursing in the darkness. “We could have caught him just now. He had enough meat to feed us for the night.” “Shhh, patience little sister,” A creeping voice emerged from the dark behind her. Its tone was understanding, though the way it spoke was enough to make even the Maneater’s skin crawl. “We could have caught him, yes, but his screams would have drawn out the town’s exterminators, not to mention the little friends who so thoroughly bested you.” The soft touch of satin fingers against Kimiko’s cheek almost made her jump. Even as it tenderly brushed her hair behind one ear. Ripples of anger at the barb pulsed in her mind, but she knew not to react. Her oldest sister would see it as reason enough to humiliate her further. “It would be truly terrible if Agappa Haraume reporting to Eiki that a human was attacked by Maneaters, or the Gap Hag becoming aware of our presence so close to her pets. Even Ex-Rumia awakening would mean death for we true Youkai. No. We know the hole he has fled to. We will draw him out in time. Hariko will go into the town in the coming days, and fetch us something to eat. When suspicion is roused against him...then we strike.” The low mocking laughter of her eldest sister was joined by the giggles of the second eldest. Her arms and hair raised to the half-moon, sinister hooks glittering in the light. A promise of the feast to come. If only it would comfort Kimiko’s empty belly… =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The houses that passed were of simple make, Oscar noted. Scarcely larger than sheds, though the space inside was about the same as an apartment, he supposed. The figure ahead of him moved confidently through the streets. Ignoring the bystanders who watched with naked curiosity. Eventually they came to a simply but distinguished building of wood and clay, adjoining a much larger structure. Whether it was a mansion or a temple, he couldn’t tell in the low light. The woman slipped off her black shoes, the red bows looking unnecessarily large in the dark. Without a word he began to follow. “No shoes.” Agappa’s voice was low and monotone as ever. Glancing over his shoulder, he could see she had already pulled off her broken sandals. With a roll of the eyes, he pulled his worn wool socks free of his shoes before following the trail of light from a room down the hall. The space was sparsely furnished. A number of educational materials written in an unrecognized language sat in stacks or on posters on the wall. A telescope and astronomical display by an open window. To the right, sitting imperiously behind a desk was the stern face of the woman gatekeeper. “Please. Sit.” The words were more like a command than an invitation. Though Oscar was too tired to do more than silently oblige, taking a stool facing the desk. Agappa followed, careful to keep in his shadow. “Tea?” “Please.” He didn’t feel parched, but it had been at least half a day since he’d had anything to drink. If anything, he wished there was food too. But it was best not to press his host. A moment later, a steaming cup of green tea sat before him. One he happily took. Even as the stranger observed him coolly from the opposite side of the desk. “So tell me. Who are you, and what are you doing here?” =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = “I am Oscar, though my friends call me Osu. They were trying to guide me here when we got separated.” = “I am Oscar Diggs, Magician Magnificent and Sorcerer beyond Compare. Didn’t you hear?” = “I’m sorry, we seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot. Would ah...Twenty dollars convince you to let me spend the night?” = “I’m sorry Miss, is this an interrogation? Because I’ve had enough threats for one day.” = “What an excellent question. I will be happy to answer it in the morning.”2 points

I think we should have a good talk about this topic. I have had a lot of thinking about this topic for a long time. Recent twits by nmlgc and aggressive2hu inspired me to do more research to finally build a full picture. I understood that we should act now until it is too late. The more info I found for this post, the worse the situation became. And it is not just about Touhou, problems are much more serious, but mostly I will talk about Touhou because I really love Touhou and I hope to change situation for better at least for Touhou. The goal of this post is not to bring hate towards anybody in the fandom or ZUN, but to help people understand the roots of the problems to resolve them. CAUTION!! CAUTION!! CAUTION!! If you still want to believe that there are no serious problems in Touhou fandom, and still want to believe in Touhou and doujin magic, well this post may bring you down. You have been warned. CAUTION!! CAUTION!! CAUTION!! Before we start, I hope to see criticism which will explain where I am right and where I am wrong, because this topic is rarely discussed. Thank you. Have you noticed that something is not right? Have you noticed that there are much less new Touhou fangames, doujinshi and doujin music than for example 8 years ago? Have you noticed that a lot of new fan content is nearly unnoticed? Have you noticed that fandom is not united and split? Have you noticed that last Touhou games are rushed and story is less well-written? Doujin events examples: I suppose that everyone noticed at least some of those problems but I am surprised that nearly nobody tried to analyse why these have happened. Well, there are two main causes of the problems: the fandom and the franchise itself. Fandom: But there are other problems that may make people haters of not just fandom, but of Touhou itself. Franchise: But what I can say for sure if this topic is unnoticed and left undiscussed we won't be able to change the situation for better. I thought that Touhou was an islet of safety in current sea of crisis of mass culture, but alas it is already under the water. But wait, let's be clever and take a step further (unlike those haters): what about non-Touhou doujin scene, what is happening there? (Spoiler: the situation is similar there): But everything is not lost! We can change the situation for better if we will stop being scattered and will work together. The worst thing now is just giving up. Thank you for reading this. I would be really glad to receive criticism, corrections and proposals. I know this topic is controversial, but I think that it must be discussed. I just want Touhou fandom to become better. If you have any good ideas how to change the whole situation for better feel free to share them. Also feel free to share this post. There are also some other related thoughts about this topic: Afterwords: If after reading this post you want to hate ZUN or anybody else then I think you didn't understand this post. This post shows that hate didn't change the situation for better and only made it worse. We don't need to hate, We need to act. For the fans who are Still with us.1 point

Greetings. I don't really have much to add that Kymoh hasn't already said for this week's chapter, other than "great job". It's cool to see Kimiko again, and this scene helps establish that Oscar isn't safe just because he got in the village. It's a bit the same for the scene with Keine, but Keine is more suspicious of him that outright hostile. Trying to impress a group of people with one big introduction + magic might have worked, but I doubt Oscar would want to try that again with the stern Keine who doesn't seem to buy his bluff. A simple introduction will do (Keine might react favourably if she learns who Oscar "friends" are, or she might be more suspicious if she learns he came from Muenzuka. No sure if Keine knows about the significance of this location in canon, but regardless it's a dangerous place and any "magician" coming from such a place could be bad news for the villagers) I don't agree with this. Sure, a long entry might turn off people who haven't started reading the series, but once they start reading it and taking an interest, I don't think they'll mind. If anything, longer entries can spend more time to describe the characters feelings, the small actions they do, and smaller details about the environment (all of which contribute to build the ambience). Better entries means more chance to keep people hooked.1 point

Hi, sorry I haven't been too active for the past week or two. I've kept getting distracted by other things during whatever free time I had. Anyways, I'm loving where the story is going with the human village! As Gri mentioned, I think it's great to finally be out of the forest and into a new situation. At first I was slightly bummed that I didn't get to find out what an 'indian rope trick' is, but the hilarious magic trick with the music balls (?) was more than enough to make up for it You sure got an awesome imagination Yumetou, I'm excited to see what other wild tricks you can come up with in the future :D As for the latest chapter, I'm really curious and worried to find out how Kimiko and the other yokai will catch Oscar. If I recall, this is the first time we see a cut to different perspective, and boy does it build some suspense. Let's see if Oscar will eventually face her head-on again, or if us readers can carefully guide him safely (or at least prepare him with a strong advantage)... personally I think it would be interesting to put an end to Kimiko's terror, so whenever I get the chance, I'll try to tip the scales to prepare Oscar for a confrontation :). I'd also like to know what everyone else thinks about the current situation, and what there is to do about it Another interesting part was the interaction with Keine. She acted much more serious and direct than I expected. Cutting Oscar off, using snappy one-liners, and only offering tea, despite how tired he must look?! This really must be an interrogation! XD While I'm so tempted to mess with her by choosing the "20 dollars to spend a night" option, I should vote reasonably for once. A normal introduction has worked before, so I'll go with that this time... But if someone ends up choosing one of the funnier options, I might change my vote >:D It's a new setting now, so anything's possible. Who knows, one stray vote and the story could go from a nice little conversation to a completely unrelated street brawl fueled by magic and panic Excited for the next chapter as always, and it would be awesome if you can start writing more frequently (no rush tho)1 point

Greetings, my my, what a speedy chapter this week, already to the Human Village (though it will be a welcome change of pace, since "walking in the scary woods" was getting a bit stale). Good integration of Narumi. She's a simple character with not much to it, so her not being there for long makes sense. Nyoko was right in that "magician" would make people react (though Oscar didn't know that). I like Oscar being "so done" with this trek through the woods ("no more questions, just get out of here"). Now, for next week choice: being late has its advantages, I get to break the tie. I'll go for the obvious "enter through the gate". Making a magic trick will get Oscar into trouble, but eh, not like he hasn't done with trouble before. Besides, what would people think if suddenly saw a Youkai jumped over the wall (and Aggapa could count this as "breaking in")? Or a suspicious person climbing with a robe or from a tree? If Oscar doesn't get spotted, then what would people think if suddenly there's someone nobodies knows dressed in a weird outfit? EDIT: Forgot the reference to Team9 cooking in the woods as Oscar walks by. A nice touch that shows a hint of what could have been.1 point

Here we go... Sadly, there is no download link for it. Magus night tried to recreate it, but they deleted all the files: But UltraStory's extra (thcrap patch for TD) has Kasen as boss. This patch changes extra bosses for most games (from 6 to 17 (100% changes extras since IN)). A lot of creators just decide not to publish their works (maybe because they are not polished, not ideal).
