  1. A few months ago, I was starting to feel like my professional writing was growing a bit stale. I was writing a lot of the same things, and it felt very routine. To shake myself out of this rut, I started an ongoing fan fiction where the audience would choose what happened next. The Gensokyo Survival Guide. It seems to have made an impression on a handful of people, whom I am very happy to write for. But there wasn't really a place to receive feedback or ideas. The handsome and charismatic Gri has suggested I make an OoC, but my life was hectic at the time and I struggled with where to put it. So, I am dropping it off here. :) If you have any comments or suggestions for the fan fiction, or any other projects I may undertake as Touhou fan fiction, feel free to leave me a message here! Whether its a review of the story so far, ideas for what might come later, or just complains that Team 9 has taken over the thread, I am overjoyed to hear you took the time to read my silly adventure. @Gri

  4. I've joined this forum for the following reasons: 1. I am a chronic lurker, however this forum seems much simpler and smaller than others I browse, so I wish to utilize it in order to get more comfortable with posting. 2. Despite haven been a Touhou fan for 2 years, I've yet to directly engage with the community whatsoever. I've always felt that the essence of Touhou was in its community, and thus I feel that being so detached from it has greatly diluted by appreciation for it. 3. I generally just don't have many people to talk to. I departed from my previous online friend group a while ago, but I've grown much more reserved than when I first met them, so my efforts to attain a new one have been impeded. My primary interest is in philosophy, with history as a close second. My interest in philosophy, to me, is simply a reflection of a very holistic range of interests. I could say that I'm interested in biology, mathematics, and engineering, but I don't feel I have enough real knowledge or motivation to learn these subjects to really state that. Rather, I deem them a subject of my "philosophizing". When it comes to philosophy itself, I'm particularly interested in ethics and society, and occasionally dabble in epistemology and ontology. My only real hobby is thinking way too hard about everything ever, and then barfing it all up in incomprehensible walls of text with no regard for the reader whatsoever.

  5. Hey, It is this lad, Gou. Some may know me and well, to the ones that know me I have something to apologize for being immature, to leave you lads, Busk, Von, and Soda, and Issac if you are still here. I really do have lots of fond memories with you lads. I really treasure and cherish all the moments we spent. This might sound corny but I don’t feel good without a proper departure. I apologize again. Things were difficult past few years but now I am rediscovering myself, that also includes my love for Touhou. And I am glad to say that I have found my passion again. And who made those experiences of early Touhou for me better? That’s you guys! The moriya shrine! That I once called home. Now Touhou as a whole is my home now. Countvonumenor, I really glad that I met you and talked with you. I gained a lot of knowledge of Touhou and I even more, I love you passion of discussing Touhou to a whole. You really are an inspiration! Calling you a brother is not a lie. I really do see you as one von. Thanks for being who you are in this wonderful community. I know you will reach your goals, brother. Buskerdog, The Touhou game jam was an invaluable experience for me. I am really grateful that you included me as an artist that time. And on that note, I am so happy that I got participate in the Remix Tournaments twice. Thank you busk truly. Soda, you know because of you I improved a lot on my art and had a lot fun with the group. I appreciate your encouraging words on art! Thank you for being wholesome Soda! Issac, well I only got one thing to say for you. Thanks for being who you are. :> And all the other wonderful people on the shrine who have been warm to me, I thank every one of you. That’s all my lads. And thank you for having this Onigama Gou in the Moriya Shrine.

  6. Thriller isn't specifically horror so I should've specified there. But I will still check out House of Leaves! Lolita on the other hand... I will make sure to stay away Thanks, I will read through it right now :)

  7. I'm currently reading "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov and I... don't like it tbh, I haven't finished yet but reading it is kinda messed up. Like at the start, the editor? (I think) kind of insulted the author, so that's quite rough. I don't care if he won some awards or something, reading this feels like reading porn almost, like why is he describing it like he is REALLY enjoying himself, if you know what I mean, like that's so freaky, and weird, and disgusting...about young girls too???? What the actual fuck. That's why his ass went to prison or something, I don't remember. I'm gonna finish it through tho, to see how eveything goes... Don't recommend it, might update if I change my opinion (maybe NEVER lol). But wait... Thriller? As in like horror? I gotchu! "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski I haven't read it yet, but I have a feeling this might be a really good book. It was praised a lot, and I heard it changes how you'd normally read a book too! And it combines that with a really cool story. I'm planning on reading it. I got to know the story through a vid talking about a Doom mod (the game, Doom). It's one of my favorite videos. CAREFUL THERE IS SPOILERS FOR THE STORY FROM THE BOOK

  8. @GamingTime I haven't play Touhou for awhile now since TH07. I don't think you can change the controls with any programs that comes with the game but you can remap your computer's keys instead. This is a post that have a link to another site and in that site they already did most of the stuff for you so that you can configure your keys easier (they made a "script") . https://www.reddit.com/r/touhou/comments/6wjjyf/control_remapping/ Or you can go straight to the site here. There are very helpful instructions there https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=219.0 Or you can try to understand the whole thing instead (from the main site that contains the original program, I have not use it yet but I think it's kinda complicated so I recommend using the program from the shrinemaiden site instead, although the thread is quite old...) https://www.autohotkey.com/ Also be careful of ghosting. Basically it means that you're holding down 2 or 3 or more buttons and you are trying to press or hold other keys but the keys you're trying to press doesn't register, it might be important when you're trying to move diagonally and shoot at the same time, for example: you're holding down "S" and "D" and trying to shoot (press a button) but it doesn't work. So be sure to test it out with your keyboard, especially if you're on a laptop. Here: https://keyboard-test.space/#google_vignette

  9. This thread had several reading recommendations: Genre-wise, I don't read as much sci-fi compared to other categories, so I'm a bit lacking in recommendations there. Closest I could get would be Frank Peretti, and I would not recommend his work to just anyone; maybe check out the Cooper Kids series, if you don't mind younger-level reading (but skip the first one). I remember being impressed by Ender's Game, but I felt it would have been better as a more self-contained work instead of a set-up for a series; take that as you will.

  10. My high school years were awful. 0/10. My happiest moments were walking with my dog. I eventually left and went to college however, and had a completely inverted experience. Everyone knew who I was, even if they had never seen me, I was one of the lead figures of my fraternity, and had more friends than I could count. I even was nominated for student body president, even if I only found out after the election. Life gets better. Keep your chin up, and focus on being your best You. Bad times pass, but good times keep you going long after they're gone.

  12. Ice Fairies Like all Fairies, Ice Fairies are spirits of nature. Embodying the cold and winter, Ice Fairies tend to be solitary creatures. Their isolated nature leads to them having strange mannerisms and interests, often out of boredom. These hobbies tend to be banal compared to other fairies, such as tracing frost designs on windows or leaving designs in the snow. They are active in autumn and winter, but hibernate or migrate to colder areas by summer. Ice Fairies internalize heat around them to freeze their surroundings, and a warm environment naturally repels them. If an Ice Fairy is a nuisance to you and your property, you can repel one by sprinkling salt around your home, maintaining a hot temperature or by placing word puzzles and equations around your property. Like all Fairies, they will stop to try and solve them, losing interest in what they were doing. Alternatively, Ice Fairies tend to be lonely, and may be cajoled through treats and simple gifts. They may struggle to befriend others, but an Ice Fairy as an ally will always stand by you. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The group continued on their way down the lonesome road, the Youkai and fairies hurrying ahead of Oscar while they walked. The sound of Agappa’s footfalls somewhere behind him. It didn’t take a genius to realize they were trying to keep him between their unwanted companion. Only Cirno was brave, or foolish, enough to stay near him. Floating beside him with her arms crossed and eyes closed. Oscar knew that look. Plenty of kids and a couple ex-girlfriends had tried the same thing. Cirno wanted an apology, but wanted him to initiate it. Which wasn’t going to happen. She tried to leave him behind! A change in conversation would work. “Hey Cirno--” “Not talking to you.” “Why are you scared of Agappa?” The question swept through the group like a cold wind. Even Daiyousei seemed to tense at the words. Cirno’s head nervously turned, as if to make sure Agappa wasn’t standing too close. “O-Osu, I know you are new here, but be careful. She can make bad things happen like--” The branch across the road was something neither noticed until it struck Cirno across the back of the head. Sending her spinning in place, until her head careened into the ground. Standing up, she rubbed her head. Pointing triumphantly to where she fell. “See Osu? She knew we were talking about us, so she made that branch knock me down!” Oscar might have expected Agappa to be offended, but from her place at the back of the group she seemed to watch bemusedly. As Cirno glared over his shoulder, she simply raised one hand with a blank expression. Waving mutely. “Grr, she’s so mean!” Cirno muttered to herself. The other members of Team 9 were slowing now, both to check on Cirno, and perhaps hoping Oscar would shelter them from the Youkai. “But...why do you dislike her so much? I mean, she’s just standing there.” “Its all a guise, Osu!” Cirno whispered, insistently. The others only nervously nodding. “Last week, we stole a pie from the Hakurei Shrine…” Even the mention of it seemed to make her salivate. Both hands rising as though to grasp the phantom pie. A low groan escaped the others at the thought too. All except Rumia, who looked downcast. “A delicious peach pie...but the Yamas don’t like stealing from shrines, so they sent Agappa after us.” “...And...I mean you’re all okay. She can’t be that ba--” “She put an oil heater in my house! When I came back, it was melted! And she drank my last cherry ramune!” “She swapped the sugar and salt in my izakaya…” Mystia continued. Tears sprouting in her eyes, before burying her face in her hands. “The customers were so mad!” “She stuck fly paper on me while I was sleeping in a bush!” Wriggle protested, antennae and wings trembling with rage. “It took me all day to pull it off, and tore out my hair!” “I’m hungry…” Rumia murmured pensively. The four turned, gazing back expectantly at Daiyousei. The green-haired fairy glanced from Cirno, to each of her other friends in turn, slowly realizing they were expecting her to speak. “Well...I wasn’t there, but I did find two brown rabbits in my flower patch that afternoon.” “SEE! See Osu! She’s a monster!” “I like rabbits…” =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = "I keep on hearing about these 'Yamas', what are they, and how do they know you're misbehaving?" = “Well, maybe we can talk this over. Ask Agappa about all this, and lets get the situation resolved. Who knows, she may go easy on you if you're friends.” = "Sooo...she only does what her bosses tell her to, right? How were you even caught?" = "I'm convinced. On the count of three, I pick you all up and run, got it?"
