I recently found a spreadsheet documenting the amount of R18 present on Pixiv and Gelbooru. Touhou seems to be within the upper echelon in terms of percentage on Pixiv, but on Gelbooru Touhou honestly seem that bad . If we look at absolute numbers, well Touhou absolutely dominates, but that's just because Touhou's had so long to gather R18 stuff. Like Genshin Impact produces like 4 times as much R18 as Touhou right now.

It's been a while since I last made a contribution to the forum, so let's see what I can add. In regards to what you have mentioned, my one and a half years of using Danbooru as my main hub for finding Touhou images on a daily basis also brought at least some of the tags you mentioned. Therefore, let's get into a (not so holy) basic list of stuff of things that would make me say "same, buddy": Quite a few unholy things to my track record, to be honest. I think I should be ashamed of it. How recent is the spreadsheet? The results are very interesting, with some that I really did not get to see until now. Until I saw this, my reference came from another sheet I got last year as a result of writing a thread on r/touhou: Most damningly, given the actual thing above, Touhou actually has less mature content than most other popular series, as measured by me, right now, looking at Pixiv post counts: The procedure for all the data below is the same: I took the 10 most popular "copyright" tags at danbooru.us to get a list of "what's popular in the West". Then I went to pixiv.net and searched the main tag for each series, and then redid the search adding the term "R-18", which is the Japanese code for "mature work". I took note of the search results and calculated the "mature ratio" for each series. Touhou has the second smallest ratio, with only Vocaloid having less mature content. Touhou is NOT "so popular in terms of mature content". People want to lewd idols, battleships and genderbent historical figures more than the youkai. If the data I mentioned above is correct, Touhou might have more R18 simply due to the sheer amount of works. However, when it comes o percentage out of all the works under that tag, we are apparently very low compared to most other stuff. Alright this is something you all probably have dealt with and talked about. Every Touhou fan has seen that person talk about the Western side being not that dedicated to making Touhou content and or is less dedicated to appreciating good content. I feel like this is part of a deeper problem, maybe something dealing with the way the internet has changed the way most people grew up with consuming content. Tons of content on the internet is mostly just brain food with bright colors and or provoking material (Some edgy crap, and or sex appeal bait) Now here is the point. I feel like Western content in general is burning me out. I've seen everything from the darkest pits of the internet to the general tip of it. Now I feel like I've wasted my time as all of it was designed to prevent people from actually having a conversation and act like mindless machines who are driven by instinct for high-quality short form content and or constantly trying to be a dipshit to others for a reaction and or generally stupid takes because their parents never loved them. It's my headcanon that Hecatia is that kind of woman who is all rebellious and cool but she is caring and gentle (especially for Clownpiece), but at the same time this is almost guaranteed to be canon with the information we have from lolk and the books I love when people draw Doremy with baku ears. It's not proven yet that Doremy has baku years, but it's very cute I don't like fandom Yuuka, I prefer her canon personality much more, same for Shikieiki Sanae comes from the outside world and has outside world culture knowledge like anime and video games, so it's my headcanon that she is a gamer at some degree and likes Kirby

Okay, this question has been floating around in my mind ever since I saw something on Twitter that showed a thumbnail of Meiling sleeping and a hand reaching towards her chest. You know what people think when that happens. This clip garnered over 134k views (probably even more), whereas other Touhou clips get around 1–5k in general and sometimes get over 10k depending on the content. So the question I'm asking is if the Touhou fanbase is getting way too horny based on everything generated over the past few years. Some various examples of what I have seen over the years of "down syndrome" are: Mommy? : Memes depicting the [insert Touhou character here] as a baby seeking affection.These are done to death all the time, but due to their cookie cutter meme status, they still get a lot of views. Booba: Ah yes, everyone seems to just like the anatomically impossible and weirdly shaped mounds, which always seem to get more attention the more exposed they are. This needs no more explanation. Public Horny: Well, this relates to the proposal at the start. The general "outright bad" syndrome seems to have increased over the years with the growth of the fandom; this can be seen everywhere from Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, Discord, and wherever Touhou is widely discussed or made. These are only the tip of the iceberg; there are many more underneath, which are compiled into a possibly SFW or NSFW list depending on how you see them on the Horny rating scale. I get this so much! Like even if they act dick-ish why do they get hate for it? Like dickish villains are a dime a dozen and you don't see people running around chanting 'Moonbitch Moonbitch'. Is it just because they are one of the view actually antagonistic characters in Touhou? But even so they were soft on our Protagonists in SSiB -- They let Marisa explain the spellcard rules to them, then they agrees to fight using them. So yeah, I don't get where the hate comes from, I just don't get it.

Every other "weeb" fanbase has this, that's nothing new. Also - while I can't (won't be bothered to) provide actual data, it was already noticed that while Touhou Project has a larger amount of R18 content made than other "usual suspect" franchises (various popular gacha games with tons of waifus of all forms, personalities, shapes and sizes) objectively, the percentage of that R18 content among all Touhou fanmade content is lesser than this of fanmade R18 content of other franchises. So, actually, Touhou Project fanbase isn't that "down bad", it just makes so much stuff in general, that its mountain of porn inevitably became bigger.
