  1. Like other people said in this chat, Hong Meiling is a character that is always made fun of, but I think there is something else to this whole situation. Meiling is my favourite character for 3 years now, so sorry if this post sounds biased or even straight up angry. I had all those thoughts building up inside my mind, and this is the only chance I found to let them all out. Let's begin. Meiling always gets mocked for a multitude of reasons, like being weak, sleeping on the job, and being good for nothing, and this is only to name a few. Yes, I know that the whole "sleeping on the job" thing became kinda canon with PMISS, Soku and CDS, but at least the canon trait isn't as bad as the fanon makes it look like. I am thankful that the Meiling abuse meme didn't become canon, because dear God, some people in this community go to gruesome extents with this, ranging from "Meiling gets knifed by Sakuya for doing something wrong" to "Meiling gets all her body parts ripped off for just existing". Thinking about all of this, I have realised something: all those negative fanon traits were made up just because she is Chinese. The Japanese and the Chinese aren't too friendly towards eachother, to say the least, and since during the early 2000's the Fandom was almost entirely made out from the Japanese, they were very quick to treat her like some moronic Chinese stereotype. People gave the Chinese Girl the whole "useless" label because they see all Chinese products as "low quality". And to top it all of, after a poll that was made to decide if she should be called "Hong Meiling" or "Kurenai Misuzu" (her Japanese name), some random guy came in out of nowhere and said "Hey, why don't we just call her China?", and everyone agreed. And so, during the late 2000's and early 2010's, there isn't a single Touhou fan who didn't call her "China". Nowadays, most people call her by her real name, and seem to respect her more than during the so-called "golden era" of the fandom, but people still recognise her only for her sleeping habits. Just try to find a Meiling-related post on the subreddit (or most other communities) that doesn't reference that either in the post itself or in the comments. While yes, the fandom is behind most of Meiling disrespect, but there is one more individual I do have to talk about. That person is none other than Mr. Touhou himself, ZUN. Think about it. In most entries of the series after EoSD, ZUN treated Hong Meiling like a joke: In the interview in BAiJR between Aya and Meiling, the first reference to her sleeping on the job was made. Other than that, we found out that she is the gardener of the mansion, which is nice. One year later, PMiSS made the sleeping gag canon. We did get some neat characterisation about her. Hisoutensoku is when things start to get messy. Here, Meiling's campaign where she defeated the evil Taisui Xinjung and his assasins was revealed to be all just some dumb dream. At least we got more characterisation for her, so that's also nice. But there is more: The Inaba manga had a scene where Meiling was shown as incompetent when she had to check the invitations of some mere bunnies and the Eitnei crew (might have percieved the manga in a wrong way, tho). They already passed the gate before she even managed to finish with the invitations. It's still unknown if the manga is canon or not. In WaHH, Remilia and Sakuya started to violently tease her (to be fair, it was because Remilia and Sakuya drank something that made them behave like Oni, but still) And finally, to end this, we have the shitshow that is CDS. Why is it so bad, you may ask? Well, for one she openly admitted in the first chapter that she sleeps on the job almost every day, then she had an arguement with Sakuya when the maid got suspected for "poisoning" Patchoulli, then it was revealed that Patchy was actually possesed by an evil vengeful spirit that wanted to create havoc in Gensokyo, said spirit later possesing Meiling, as well as putting her into a coma, and for the grand finale, she gets almost strangled to death by Flandre herself because of that vengeful spirit that was inside Meiling at the time. I heard that other characters got this kind of treatment as well, like Reisen and Kanako. I think it's pretty clear that ZUN doesn't respect her at all, at least to me. So all of this makes me wonder: why does ZUN treat Hong Meiling like this? Did he intend from the very beginning for her to be a joke character? Does he have a grudge against Meiling? Who knows. One thing I do know is that her future is looking grim, and I actually dread the next time she appears in a another entry in the series, because she will most likely be treated like a joke yet again. I mean, writing an essay for 2 hours straight isn't going to change the situation at all, so what can I do to actually change this? Well, nothing. I think it might be too late for anything to be done, unfortunately. Hong Meiling had so much potential, yet all of that got thrown out of the window thanks to some memes that ZUN made canon for some unknown reason. Well, that was a weird way to spend my evening, but at least I finally managed to say what I had on my mind.

  2. Damn, I haven't replied to this thread either?? Bruh Anyways, this will be a long list, so prepare xd 1. Sonic the Hedgehog This is one of the first games I ever played, so of course I'm going to love it. I was a Sonic fan since I was 5 years old, so I have been a Sonic fan for 10+ years now. My first ever Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 1, and since then, I was hooked xd I'm actually mostly a fan of the older Sonic games, from the Classic era to the Dreamcast era, probably because of how much nostalgia I have from playing those games. I used to play tons of Sonic rom hacks too, which is what inspired me to become a programmer!! 2. Yume Nikki While technically not a series because it's only 1 game, Yume Nikki is a very weird experience, but in a very good way. I first played the game back in 2018, but I got too scared and dropped it (oops), but I picked it up again in 2019 and the rest is history. Yume Nikki did kind of get me through 7th grade, I remember it was May/June, I used to listen to Yume Nikki's music (which were just like what, 10 second loops?) and some Yume Nikki remixes while walking around my schoolyard, it was really relaxing and it's so nostalgic thinking about that now... I especially remember listening to this specific video of the ending theme, the image in that video makes me so nostalgic that it hurts... I recommend Yume Nikki to everyone who likes weird and atmospheric games, it's truly an experience! There are also many Yume Nikki fangames, and I played some of them (From the top of my head: Yume 2kki, .flow, Me, Answered Prayers, Uneven Dream). I will be talking about Yume 2kki for a bit as well, since it's the most popular fangame, and it holds somewhat of a special place in my heart. I first played Yume 2kki in July of 2019, so around 2 months after finishing Yume Nikki. A cool (or not cool) thing about 2kki is that it's made by several people who are all collabing on the game, so it doesn't really have a concrete style. The music in that game is great as well, so many ambient and catchy tracks to choose from! The game is MASSIVE, it took me several weeks to finish it, but it's (somewhat) fun to explore. Also also also.. Considering that it's a collaborative game... I managed to get my drawings in it!!! Another drawing should be added to the game soon as well, however, that drawing was the first ever drawing that I made for this game, so it's quite old (from 2020), but it still looks good! If you decide to play Yume Nikki and the fangames, I recommend to NOT go to the Yume Nikki Online project website, since it's quite buggy imo, so just directly download the game. 3. Celeste Another game that's not really a series but shhhhh Celeste is a really wholesome platforming game that's about Madeline, a woman who climbs both a physical and a metaphorical mountain. The game is hard, but once you get used to the controls, you can glide through the stages really well. The artstyle is amazing as well! I beat the game several times, and I beat Farewell, the 9th chapter which is also the harderst chapter in the game. I also relate to Madeline as well at some parts of the game, and I won't lie when I say that I cried at some dialogue. 4. Portal Finally! A series! Portal is such an amazing game, that it's insane. The gameplay is REALLY fun, the plot (at least in Portal 2) is great and hilarious, I love the characters, I love everything about it. I wanted to play Portal ever since I was a small kid, but it was only this year that I got to play it, and I do not regret it one bit. Portal 2 especially, I did not want that game to end. I love Wheatley, I love GLaDOS, I love Atlas and P-Body... All the characters are so awesome!!! I wish we had combustible lemons... 5. Half-Life Half-Life is rotting my brain and I do not regret it one bit!! Jk, but it's still an amazing game with an amazing plot and characters. The plot actually makes me feel dread when I think about it deeply, and aarghhh there's so much about it that I love!!! Half-Life is also the reason I will be pursuing game art in an university after high school, because looking at Half-Life 2's concept art made me want to cry from how pretty it is xddd Gordon Freeman is a badass, although I do feel poor for the dude, imagine going to work one day only for the world to turn upside down... 6. Doctor Who And now, for a show! I started watching DW in 2020, when the 'rona started, and...........i still haven't finished it heheh But it's a really good series, made me cry, laugh, get angry, it's pretty good! My favorite Doctor is 10, played by David Tennant, and I'm glad that David is also playing the 14th Doctor, but I will always know him as 10, sorry David! xd I have a Tardis shirt and I bought a DW coaster on a con that I went to recently, great show if you like Scifi stuff! Ofc, my interests will change over time, so I'll be sure to edit this post if I remember something!

  3. Without having watched the show yet, I can only imagine the thing having gone one way. Since it was during Kaoru's arc, it means it was her time to shine as the girlfriend of Jun'ichi (basically her timeline/route in the game). Why she punched him? Probably just to avoid him having any possible idea, like a "don't you even dare, Junichi" sort of thing. Character showcase: Tachibana Miya General information (curtesy to the Amagami wiki): Miya Tachibana (橘 美也 Tachibana Miya) is a secondary character of Amagami SS. She is a student of class 1-B and the younger sister of Junichi Tachibana. Appearance: Miya has black hair and black eyes. She has slight resemblance to her brother. In school, she wears their standard school uniform. Her Kibito High School Uniform consists of a black jacket, black sailor collar, white collared shirt, black neck ribbon, black pleated skirt, and black knee-highs. Personality: She is a playful girl, and tends to call her brother "Nii-Nii" which sometimes annoys Junichi secretly. She tends to be jealous when her brother is with another girls, with the exceptions of Sae, Ai and Rihoko, who are her close friends. She was always seen walking home with Sae and Ai. She also has a habit of teasing Sae when it comes to Sae's breast. Her favorite food are meat buns. She is shown to care a lot about her brother as seen in episode 26 where it is implied that she is concerned as to why her brother does not have a girlfriend Age: - 15 (Amagami SS) - 16 (Amagami SS+ plus) Some trivia from the same article: Miya's arc is the OVA of the series. Miya is the only support characters to have her arc in both anime seasons. In the game and the OVA, Miya bites Junichi Tachibana's neck, telling him "its a playful bite [jp: amagami] - an expression of love!". This is the only reference to the title in both the source material and the anime. Out from all the 6 main heroines, Miya only dislike Haruka Morishima at first. Her extra ending in the game: "Miya/Imouto End" happens if you raise certain flags with her and if you fail to get with any girls. On Christmas, she finds a kitten. Junichi goes with her to find her mommy cat. He saves the mom cat from being run over. Miya and Junichi see the kitten and mom cat playfully bite each other (amagami!). Tachibana explains "amagami" is a form of affection. Miya bites Junichi to show how much she loves her 'nii-nii'. There is probably more art of Miya than for a lot of the girls in the series, so that means she does not escape the lewd depictions. To make it even worse, let's just say she is also depicted in incest, so I am not even sure what to be concerned of - the fact she is 15-16, or the very fact her brother is involved in this. For the sake of decency, it seems like it does not happen very often though, or at least Danbooru preferred to only present less than 5 such images in the 20 pages long board. Next time, we are going from very young to very old (compared to pretty much everyone else in the series), and re going to cover Takahashi Maya.

  4. I'm better now, though still recovering, and with no less urgency in keeping up with things. I determined to feature Sonic Frontiers before the year ended, despite its late soundtrack release, and can now present my findings. This is an unexpectedly massive soundtrack; not content with area and activity themes, the composers arranged unique tracks for every "Cyber Space" challenge, and up to seven different "movements" for each island theme. Each main boss has a unique vocal track to accompany its fight, each miniboss type has a special theme, and then there's the cutscenes and special events! Styles range from reflective orchestral, intensive metal, and a variety of electronic genres, with an occasional one-off jazz piece thrown in. While I certainly enjoyed the wide selection, at some point I began to wonder if they hadn't overdone it a bit. The main area theme variations didn't tend to vary as much as I'd expect, usually peaking at about movement three. Cyber Space tracks were fun, but very few of them stand out as more than concept pieces. Overall, while I appreciate the effort gone to, I think they may have stretched themselves thinner than necessary, sacrificing memorability for quantity. That being said, quality was maintained, and the tracks that do manage to stand out do so powerfully. As usual, I struggled to appreciate the vocal tracks; while I'm Here is undoubtedly the focus track, I was surprised to find the more story-centric Dear Father at the end of the album; I'll include it here as a mark of my differing focus in regards to the comparison.

  6. I listen to many kinds of music, and I'm sure some people on this site do too. Whatever kind of music you listen to, whether it's pop, electronic, traditional folk music from other country, a pavane, breakcore,... there are songs that make you feel emotional, songs that I don't know if anybody noticed but songs that don't necessarily have to be sad it can but like, not always, only the melody can even make you feel the weight of emotions. And I like music like that, from whatever kind of genres, as long as it sounds... nice. And sometimes those melodies, in some kind of way, with their magic, make you cry, it made me cry, make you feel like.. crying. I don't know why but it might be because of the emotions poured into those melodies. Emotions in the melodies. At the moment, there are two songs on my mind that resemble that, there are alot more but currently I'm thinking about these two I really like the part when the violin played in the 1st song and the screaming in the 2nd song, so much emotions.
