Double Update: Yep, ready up a new album 'cause a New PV just dropped 10 minutes ago. Welcome again to Yum Yum Yummy: Tis a title. Visuals are astonishing as usual. The little chibi Yuuma is full of life. Now, Stack has done it, my interest in a character grows bigger than usual. Damm, two PV in within a week? This has got to be one of the best evening I've had.2 points

I believe they're going to fall down the ranks harder than marisa since lunch. We have unexpected buffs and nerfs at times, ex- Meiling climb the ranks, Cirno falls (No more Stronk jokes), Byakuren never going up a rank. (I feel bad for her). Hoshiguma, although I never really got her, I hope she's as strong as they say. (I really don't want Yuugi to fall neither Raiko) I also hope the cast of Pc-98 shortly arrive since I honestly want to see old familiar faces mainly Mima and Kongara. Yeah, they look astonishing. I shall wait for Yuugi as well with Parsee no matter the time. Decades? Bring it on Ninja.2 points

Welcome! Never too late to join the party. The Yukari fight in Chapter 1 really is a quite an awakening to reality if you haven't got used to the mechanics. When I first got into that battle, I was lucky to have Lily White part of my team, so I could make use of the Wood breaks our beloved Herald of Spring provides and Yukari's elemental weakness to Wood. However, it is indeed quite a good point where to start learning some of the mechanics and all you have mentioned. I've heard a lot of people saying that that difference from Normal to Hard and then Lunatic feels quite great. However, this is how I remember the things about each difficulty besides the increase in HP and barriers to break: Normal: enemies do not use any of their abilities Hard: enemies use their defensive abilities Lunatic: enemies use their defensive, offensive and debuff abilities Indeed, besides a relatively low number of character outfits, casual "oh, do you remember when...[insert reference to mainline game]" and the whole Fantasy Rebirth mechanic, there seems to be little fanservice in this game. At least for now... The art style is also quite nice, and I like how consistent it is for every character. The fact they also collaborated with other fan artists and introduced their art in the game through the story card is quite neat too. One thing that surprised me a little, knowing how fanon can be, is how they decided to depict Eiki Shiki. She has been recently added to Global, and since I like the character, I wanted to get her (which I got, luck enough, in my first x10 prayer). Even if her art makes Eiki look rather average in height, and her battle chibi seems to be a little smaller than that of other characters (LOL), her personality was a pleasant surprise. The game has gone quite a bit with the preachy personality, but, at least in my opinion, her lines also show care and wish for the character to be a good person. Which is quite refreshing from the casual "always angry small girl Eiki who will send you to hell for the pettiest of reasons" fanon got us so used to. The player-insert part has been done interestingly. I might say this due to not having any prior experience with games where you have self-inserts or isekai, but this one is a little different. First and mainly, there is the part your character is already established to be a girl. Usually, at least from what I know, such games usually let the player pick the gender of the protagonist or make them male, therefore all the jazz and stereotypical "harem" stuff when you have a cast filled with other girls/women/whatever. Then, there is the whole Fantasy Rebirth thing, where, if you go by how some call it - "marry the 2hus", you basically have girl-girl relations. It is funny though how the creators tried giving the protag a bit of personality in the fact that, according to the biggest part of the Lost Word community, she might have a crush on Sakuya based on some of the interactions until now. This comment I have once seen in regards to MC's interactions with the girls in the series always makes me laugh:2 points

We did not get Raiko yet in Global, but I really wanna get her. She, Mayumi and Tenkyuu are the last 2hus I need for completing my top 10 list. Also, do you say she fell in rank? Like she was good, and then got a nerf? Or there was no modification, just that her, being a general pool unit, will be weak no matter what? I still cannot help but laugh how Eika, Mayumi, Wriggle and Eternity are General Pool units, and all of them are in the S and S+ tier, and share room with some of the FES and SFES units.1 point

Holding this off till last minute (this time intentionally). The show must go on! situation report (feat. Merami Pop & Yui Katsuragi[?]) - Broken Dreams The vocalists sound like they're competing with their different melodies toward the end, and this works really well with the arrangement's dark metal. Not something I'd expect for a PC-98 theme, but it works really well. Artifex - Hakurei ~ Eastern Wind (Remastered) Technically, this is the first song in Touhou for a proper curtain fire level. There's the ominous build up into leisurely melody, followed by a rapid series of close-together notes before dropping suddenly back to the opening build up; there may not be much to it materially, but all together it makes for a perfect introduction. Himi no Yuri - Attack! Attack!! Attack!!! I'll always have less to say about pieces I had to post, since I've necessarily said something already in the description. It was completely coincidence that I had a Eurobeat piece prepared for today; be sure to check out busker's feature in the post above.1 point

Also, I know that this is a bit off-topic, but I forgot how bad the drop rates are for units with seal crystals. I'm trying to get Yuuka with them (Since I spent like 300+ god crystals, and I got mostly dupes :c) and no luck.. Meanwhile I got Eiki with a standard 10 pull hehe Another thing is, while I don't like the power creep, I honestly do like the retro units, and I hope to see PC98 charas too (A few days ago I dreamt that Konngara was in TLW and I tried pulling for her xd), I mostly get them because I want them, rather than meta power thing.1 point

Wait, did characters on JP other than Meiling actually get buffs? As for the units, this is what the (unofficial) JP tier list looks like: As you can se, some of these units are new ones. And to make it even more interesting, Eternity Larva, Mayumi, Wriggle and Eika are general pool units, and they still manage to score up to S+ tier. Afterwards, another interesting detail is how FES units can reach the second to be tier, like with PCB Alice, or SS with EoSD Reimu and PCB Yukari. The rest of the FES units, be them the reskins or normal 2hus, still score high. As of 29th of April, none of the reskins scores lower than A tier, while some of the regular FES units even reach C tier (Byakuren, Kanako - both of their "classic" versions are in S tier). Reimu and Marisa already have PC-98 sprites used in story cutscenes, and some of the promotional materials for the game in Japan feature the two. It might not take long until PC-98 characters might actually be a thing. Since we had a Blue Reimu, a Red Sanae would have been obvious. Now the two can complement each other and switch between Player 1 and Player 2 ;) Good question. Now I really wonder that too. But since Hifuu seems to be going towards the SDM now in creating them alts, I can imagine PCB might be next. And therefore a new Myon. The one for Ran really looks nice. It gives me even more Tamamo no Mae vibe. As for waiting, hope it will be worth. Eventually, all the 2hus might get their own Fantasy Rebirth, and I personally like this thing for the new outfit. I have the one for Youmu, and it's really beautiful (even if it reminds me of her special outfit from Junjo Arumeria). Otherwise, I am quite curious what outfits Akyuu (already confirmed on the JP server) and Eiki will get eventually.1 point

I'm not sure if all the new characters that are in the jp version remain strong. When Parsee and Yamame were introduced, they were some of the best in their class. Overtime, Parsee as an attacker was overshadowed by ultra festival characters like Flandre. Her stats and evaluation were lowered too compared to the festival attackers who were buffed more. I can't wait to see the UM cast as well and I believe they will try to include some of the PC-98 characters at some point. I can see the old Reimu, Marisa, Alice amd Yuuka being made playable. I can't believe there is a red Sanae! I also can't believe blue reimu is in higher rarity and is probably the highest ranked character now. The idea of Epic festivals seems too much for me. Are Marisa and Youmu going to get more alts or will some current ones shift in rarity I wonder? The fantasy rebirth outfits for Ran and Chen look great! Same goes for the recent Flan and Remila ones we got too. No matter how many years it takes, I'll patiently wait for Parsee to receive her fantasy rebirth event.1 point

Now that I've watched this, and I have many things to talk about that I can't let pass (since Lost Word is literally the only game I play on my phone and I was so hyped for it when it came out). So I have some opinions and experiences on the game that I would like to share and that they agree with yours. I'm gonna go by points. (geez this is gonna look more as a review...) 1) Story >"you go through a long cut-scene explaining the story, then touch 1-2 buttons to order attacks, win battle, watch another cutscene then repeat." >"long series of cutscenes with little battles" You summarized very well what's the story for me now. The idea of the multiverse sounds cool and interesting, but it's very poor, annoying and boring in the gameplay. I know it's a free and a mobile game, so I get the animations and the cutscenes can't be the big deal; yet it's just the same artwork of the characters all the time (with their awkward postures...), a pair of bullet animations and long, long and long textboxs. The complexity of the story ends being pretty confusing (or I'm just stupid to understand it pretty well). The characters spits you a lot of information that, at the end, it's boring to read; so many people-including myself- only skip the custscenes. The other point is that the progress of the story is deficient. I don't know the context in JP version, but the Chapter of the tiny Yuyuko and the Black Youmu has been extended unnecessarily (waiting for the next chapter...), which adds more complexity to the story that no one asked for. If the story is already deep; not adding a proper continuity to it will make the player to feel indifferent about it as well as turning the plot into an inconsistent one. 2) Characters >"the creators have gone the following route(s) in order to not fully exhaust the cast..." >"My biggest gripe is that they decided going for them as individual units instead of having them as skins. And skins in the game are already useless." >"It is also impressive how quick they managed to exhaust such a large cast. " I completely agree with you. They rushed the characters very quickly and now they've gotten this problem: "What do we add now?" I always say a joke toward these alt versions: "When you ran out of ideas: [alt version]". They give us new characters that are basically the same character but with a recolouring, lolified or with a ""new/old"" design. That's it. The biggest issue is that these units shadow the actual characters. As you've said, instead of buffing some lame characters like Kanako or Byakuren, they decide to buff them into top tier S+ or EX by giving us a new character based on them. These could have perfectly worked as items or outfits that change their appearances into those new designs, recolours, etc. but giving them more power. The point of LW is playing with a variety of characters, not getting into your team all the S+/EX tiers whose members are practically composed of these new alt versions. (How many Marisas we've got... For god sake...) 3) The JP and Global versions This is very related to the prior point. While JP version has got the problem of having rushed all the characters up to the point of covering the entire cast-that now they have to depend on these alt versions- the Global version has also done very wrong at rushing so quickly to match the JP features. Like, we get tons of new stuff in every update in short amounts of times; we've even got characters that were also realeased in JP version at the same time-- lol what??? Global version will end soon as JP version did; until a point where they will probably have to stop releasing content and wait first for what JP version does; since JP version will have run out of it by that moment. 4) The gameplay and RPG mechanics; difficulty >"you can just whale some money into it, get a meta character or card or whatever, and basically get yourself a "Press to win" button. " >"it just turns into a farming simulator with Touhou characters, made even more so by recently added auto-farm feature. Just leave your phone in a corner." >"You build a team, and can just put them auto-play the stages for you, without you having to do anything. It just turns into an auto-farm grind-fest, which after a while makes you feel it does not bring any achievement, and is just repetitive." I can't stop sharing your thoughts about the game. First of all, I remember how a friend that started playing LW, in a matter of a week or two; the guy had already reached level 100 (and I was like in level 75 by just playing f2p since the release date). What did my friend do? The Press to win technique you mentioned. He just put money into it, and BOOM; he was the Alpha among the server. I'm not really complaining, he can perfectly do that; it's okay; yet I just want to proove that your first statement is hella right xDD. Well, the gameplay is as brief as you wrote: put your phone in the corner, and put the autofarm while you're doing other thing. The game is quite boring and repetitive, I literally play LW for just 5 or 10 minutes per day for the daily missions and gifts. The feeling of success really fades when you reach high level in some of your units. Sure, I admit the game can have a strategy part, but most of the time it's just put your 3 girlies at level 100 to battle everything. The only challengues are things like Scarlet Tower or MOON EX. And that's where the difficulty part enters. I feel the game is kinda unbalanced: some battles are quite easy and others are ridiculously hard. There's no middle point; and for the hard fights, you really have to grind and spend many time getting the good cards and characters; trying-trying again the battle. I don't also get why you're forced to do the events first in normal mode; that helps to force the player to skip the story as well as begin to put auto-play mode. 5) The Gacha set-up >"if you don't add new characters that are stronger and stronger, for challenges that become higher and higher to justify the acquisition of these new units, nobody will play your game." >"t just feels like crap to hoard a lot of resources, then try your luck and get nothing useful out of your totally-not-gambling activity." I feel like you... The exaggerated ways of powering-up the characters makes the game to have TONS of confusing items over a simple RPG gameplay; which is linked to the previous gameplay part: grinding, grinding and a constant autofarm = boring gameplay. But, overall, I don't complain too much about the gacha set-up, I think the game doesn't force you to be a Pay To Win; I'm free to play, and I can say that I can get by in the harder battles; although the challengues such as S.Tower, might pressure you to pay for some things. But the game really rewards you with many blue cubes and items; and the game is now doing the same but with the pink cubes (which were quite scarce to get). The prayer rates and costs can be sensed as unfair, and sometimes I've been Sunny Milk'd (tricked) by them; still, you can get many powerful characters from banners, daily prayers or the 300 SC recent one. Even so, because of that rushing-attitude that the game has adopted, we get many many banners and accumulate so much; which pressure the player to play more hours or to pay for items, so they can collect all of the touhou girlies. 6) The good stuff This is simple, for being a free game, Touhou LW really offers a great quality in terms of artworks, effects, animations, music, etc. And, as I pointed in the point 5), the game awards you many times; all along with a Staff that keep in touch with the fans and hear their petitions and suggestions in the Discord Server; making some raffles. Basically, the game is useful for promoting artists and music groups, while it also acts pretty close to the players-I remember when we were awarded with 100 cubes just because an error with some facebook accounts-. 7) My evolution of the experience >"But again, you somehow get back to it, no matter how much you may end up despising it." >" I do not have yet another Touhou fan-game to play and fill the gap. Lost Word fills most of the requirements for a game, and I do not know what else to play and have a bit of fun with. " I'm in the same situation. At the beginning, I was so hyped; I was looking forward to LW release. It was almost summer, so I spent my vacations playing LW and enjoying the story, the gameplay and such. But, then, things got repetitive and lesser fulfilling; reaching a line where I skipped events, dialogues, stories, battles, and so on; all because of the reasons you and me have exposed in our posts. The last achievement that I was really proud of was beating Red Marisa on Lunatic; that truly was an example of a good battle based on strategy. The rest of my gameplay? Doing daily tasks and rushing events; while I care less about the main and Hifuu stories. Again, we can't ask too much for a mobile game that is free; I've been critic with LW but, at the end, it's the only thing that fills the gap of Touhou mobile game. I stated something to a friend during the first months of release: "Give whatever thing that has Touhou on it to Touhou fans and they will put it as a relic; no matter what". The lack of good touhou content on the West makes us to enjoy and overestimate products that could have been done better; such as Lost Word. Maybe, Lost Word could have bet for a simpler, solid and constant story, linked to better missions and keeping the same fight system but with wearable items that boosts stats rather than Story Cards, Limit Breaking, Upgrading, Enhancing, Awaking and Reborning; everything to max and you're done with your character. The game could have been more similar to a Kirby one called Team Clash Deluxe, which was a free game for 3Ds (not RPG); featuring missions, boss battles, armours, weapons... It's just the only game that came up to my mind, hehe. Anyways, thank you for writing this; it was useful for clearing myself regarding to Lost Word.1 point

tbh Lost Word just an FGO for Touhou, but sightly worse, creating alternative character, make some "boring" gameplay, and somehow forced player to use real money for win the battle. But, there's a difference between Adaptacion franchise gacha game, and Normal gacha game: Lost Word must keep their franchise known as Touhou, Nextninja cannot make an OC character because it would make Touhou lore break (Except ZUN decide to adding some Characters based on Lost Word on his manga/game). So they decide to make an alternative character, even they alternative story doesn't related to real Touhou game, they still need to keep touhou vibe alive. Imagine if all Touhou characters already relased in Lost Word, what should they do next? making more story event exiting? i doubt one exiting event story can bring players an hype Or creating a new gacha system called Equipment to increase maks stats? just like other gacha game? (Guardian Tales) it only make the game looks more greedy. Gacha game like LW is not just an Fangame, they need to be more creative so the game will last longer, you dont want this game ended like Touhou Cannonball right? that had been shut down on Sep 2020 They need to still alive using Touhou Franchise, when you click gacha banner, you want all those roll currency that you been keep months worth to spend right? you expect an new or freshy character every 2 weeks right? imagine LW never relase alternative character, and their done relase every character on Touhou today, what if you already have all of them year later, you dont want to roll anymore right? you only roll and expect on Dupe, because it can increase stats sightly. then you get bored and decide to sell the account an Normal gacha game (Arknights, Priconne, GBF (that's a name of the game that you just found on discord), kancolle, etc), they all freely to setup their franchise, lore, characters, new gacha mechanism as they want. They can create some new characters every 2 weeks, no matter it's Alternative version or not. They also can make an new lore for the new charaters freely, because it's their own franchise. Even if you already collect all the characters on game, you still need push foward to collecting gacha currency for upcoming characters, because that's what Game Developers do, making their player still play the game by keeping them an new Update, such as new characters Normal gacha game also advertise their game more efficieny, for example making an "name game" Cafe Theme in Akihabara, big banner on Videotorn. Lost Word probaly can't do that, even if they so, it ended up promoting Touhou, not Lost Word (said by the some touhou fans) for conclusion, Lost Word can't be compared by an normal Gacha game since it's Adaptation game based on Touhou. They still need to keep the Touhou assest on their game, and have an Limit Choise to keep the touhou lore stable1 point
