Ken Hisuag Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 (edited) I don't know if this will become a larger thread, but I wanted to share this video and didn't think it would fit elsewhere. Spoiler Edited May 23, 2020 by Ken Hisuag awkward grammar TTT

buskerdog Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Some videos which I've known about for ages, actually. Ran back into them and remembered that this thread would be a good place for them. Spoiler
Ken Hisuag Posted September 29, 2020 Author Posted September 29, 2020 Just remembered that this video exists. Spoiler TTT
Ken Hisuag Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 In a similar vain, but with focus on individual parts (and in a far more condensed presentation): Spoiler I appreciate having a breakdown; I often try to differentiate the layers from each other by ear, but it can be difficult to discern the finer parts. Nekoko Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 I find it kinda funny that Septette for the Dead Princess sounds (kinda) the same as Virus by Beethoven, it's as if being a vampire in Gensokoyo is caused by a virus, maybe?

buskerdog Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Idk how applicable this is to ZUN's music, but I'm sure it must be relevant to many doujin circle songs. I dug this up recently to show it to a friend, and realised that I never posted it here. 1
Ken Hisuag Posted November 4, 2023 Author Posted November 4, 2023 The day will eventually come where I say something more original on this thread rather than just posting the analysis of someone else; but today is not that day. What especially engaged me with this video wasn't just hearing a professional musician say things I've been thinking for years, but also the variety of comments referencing the contrast between the older styles and the newer styles. Ken Hisuag Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Again, not technically a progression of the topic, but a potentially helpful resource in its consideration: This video denotes the instrumentation in play, helping the view appreciate the layering that goes into a Touhou composition, as well as identifying where each sound really comes from.
