Touhou games for beginners?

Hello! I just recently joined the Moriya Shrine (Hello to everyone else reading my comment!) and have gotten into Touhou after finally founding a Touhou song that I listened to a bunch when I was younger :) I just started to play the games for the very first time, and I am... Not that good so far. I keep dying around Stage 3 - 4, and since there are so many Touhou games, I don't know which ones are good for beginners when they first try.

Any suggestions will be helpful. (And yes I do know that the fighting games exist, I'm just not playing them at the moment) I would love to practice my Touhou skills so that I can enjoy this series as it is :)

Welcome aboad! The easiest games to start with are 7 (Perfect Cherry Blossom), 8 (Imperishable Night) and 10 (Mountain of Faith). I'd recommend trying 7 and 8 and continue with the one you feel most comfortable with. Don't worry about dying often since it's very natural if you haven't played other danmaku games before, focus on improving your skills. Btw, with which game did you start out?

Hello! I started out with Ten Desires because it seemed very interesting with the character designs because they appealed to me.

I also recomend checking out Lotus Land Story, but better luck on running PC-98. That was my first touhou game ever, and the only one i managed to 1CC in Normal.
